  1. When you access the listing directly from GSAK you go to the page as defined under Options. When you access the map from Memory Map you go to the page defined in Export->Memory Map->Link This is where you need to remove the &decrypt=y.
  2. This time last year someone found 45 trigs and still didn't get a yellow box. We have not even found that many Oh well it seems our chance of glory has just faded into obscurity! The great thing about not having found many is that you have plenty near you that need finding. Many less serious triggers will have found most of the trigs in their patch. By less serious, I mean people that don't travel the country every weekend in search of all 7000+ trigs.
  3. Didn't realise it happened with all caches. It's the &decrypt=y that's causing the problem. If this worked before (I don't use it) then something must have changed on GC.com. It's nothing to do with MM. I would take it out of your export for now.
  4. What is the Linked File for the cache in question?
  5. This time last year someone found 45 trigs and still didn't get a yellow box.
  6. If you look at the properties for the cache icon in MM, what does the Linked File show?
  7. That was exactly my point, although it was supposed to be light hearted.
  8. Very nice.....but no GPRS. I'm beginning to think there is no perfect solution yet, however much you pay. I wish the person who set that cache I did yesterday that was 65' out from the posted coords had one of these.
  9. I dropped mine a few times at first, then put it on a lanyard so it can't hit the ground. I don't think it would survive a 150m drop though.
  10. We used it yesterday for the first time. It worked beautifully. Thanks.
  11. Being a gadget junkie who walks a lot I have both of the above and can say that combining the two is the ultimate combination if money is no object as you say. Just Google "HTC TyTN II" to find out more. It's about the same price the CSx was when it came out. The Garmin GPSMAP60 CSx is perfect for most caching as it's robust, waterproof, accurate, holds a great signal and runs all day on a set of batteries. Expandable memory, unlimited POI and long descriptions are great for geocaching too. The HTC TyTN II will do everything the CSx does and all the other bits you're after, like run Memory Map, run TomTom (CSx will give basic sat nav providing you purchase a routing map), wireless, plays mp3s (and movies) and runs Cachemate to manage listings (or other applications, or browser for HTML listings). It will recharge from car lighter socket (so will the CSx), though this is pretty irrelevant as rechargeable batteries are cheap. Just get a battery extender. So what's the drawback? PPC / PDA solutions are not waterproof or rugged. Some cachers use Otterboxes to combat this deficiency. Personally I would not use it as my primary geocaching device, but it complements perfectly.
  12. I've had 3 Palm's for geocaching. The first (Sony Clie) smashed in action, second (M515) stopped working very quickly, third (M505) still working. All were cheap and second hand, mainly eBay. I upgraded to the TyTN II PPC / phone a few weeks ago. I did consider the Colorado - for about 1 millisecond. I've always run Cachemate, but keep a large HTML extract from GSAK as a backup.
  13. The opening shot is of the HTC TyTN II - which I believe IS already the ultimate caching device. It will be interesting to see if the Garmin product is waterproof and more ruggid, as this is where they can get the edge on HTC.
  14. In the UK Memory Map has a satellite image overlay. I don't know if it does in the US. This will run on most GPS enabled PDAs and phones.
  15. That's exactly what happened to me here. In over 5 years of regular GPSr assisted walking I have never once been let down by the technology. I totally agree with HH's comments.
  16. Many thanks. Couldn't find it on a search.
  17. Congratulations to The Flying Boots ...........................for passing 700 in a major leap this weekend. And your first Wherigo. Watch out though, we're right on your heels and we have a secret weapon.
  18. How come http://img.geocaching.com/stats/tb.aspx?gu...05-47efad0d5087 doesn't work, when it does for all of my other trackables (apart from one)? And yes, it is a valid guid as this works. It should do something like this.
  19. Although USB is much more convenient it won't speed up the data transfer as you still have a serial device.
  20. Awww! I can't think of anything worse. You have my sympathy. Get it sorted and you'll soon be back out there.
  21. We'll try and meet up for Only a Hill, as we've done Crook's Peak (and a fine cache it was too). Many people are heading over here to do Wye Valley Ghost Train for a big milestone though, as it's something a bit special.
  22. This is one of my favourite walks and a classic, though Pen y Fan will be very busy in the school holidays. Sugar Loaf and the Skirrid will also be busy. The Black Mountains (north of Crickhowell) are wonderful and very quiet. High Tea will guide you round an excellent 13m walk, taking in a few other caches along the way. There are few caches I wouldn't recommend, but some must-do caches include: Alien Encounter I t2520 Tommy Jones The Cat's Back Lord Hereford's Knob The Lonely Shepherd A Canadian Memory Grwyne Fawr Many tell great tales. Hopefully you'll get to do some of ours too. Have a great time.
  23. Many thanks for that will have a good read before I part with my cash PPC Geocaching Introduction first draft.
  24. If you don't have one of these then I recommend you do some research. You won't regret it. It is legal.
