  1. I just upgraded to this gps and I am in love. I spent quite a bit of time just playing with it to familiarize myself with the way it works. Just give it some time it is a great machine. If you can spare the bucks it is a huge advantage to add the US Streets and maps software. I did this and the possibilities are endless.
  2. Just cannot see how this could be a good idea.
  3. My first gps was a magellan 100. Although it was the most inexpensive and has no maps its ground zero accuracy still beats my very high tech new garmin HCX. I love the features of my new garmin but I still bring along the old magellan for ground zero accuracy.

    Edit logs

I would just email the person who made the log. It would be most likely an honest mistake and they can edit it themselves.
  5. Not to but my head in where it does not belong but come on if someone wants to live in a silly little world where they pretend to find more caches than they do who cares. It is not hurting me and if the cache owner does not like the extra logs he deletes them. The number of people who do not pad their count and enjoy seeing others count far outweighs the few who live in a fantasy cache find world. By eliminating cache counts all we are doing is protecting the few cache padders from their own ego. I actually feel sorry for them. I enjoy watching my friends both in my home state and around the US and see their success. Do not take that away just because some people abuse there own find count. I am not computer literate accept in every day use but would it not be to difficult to just set up the cache pages to only accept one smiley per account.
  6. Could you link this cache please. My husband and I have been debating the merits of placing a similar cache in honor of our Daughter whom we lost to prematurity, and I would like to see how a similar cache has been done. Fitting day for me to read this thread, it's her birthday as well as the anniversary of her death. Scrubs Sorry for your loss. GCPQ2H
  7. So what I want to know is now that you have rechecked coordinates with a GPS how accurate were your original computer based coordinates?
  8. Although I agree with you and I myself have a very specific sig item to trade, I am afraid that junk in cache is part of the nature of the beast. Some of the people may be just plain cheap but I believe that the majority of trashy traders are just clueless. One mans junk is another mans treasure. They dig through the kids bedroom closet and say OOOHHHH this will fit in a cache. So a barbie leg ends up as a trade. Sure to me it is junk but hey they got that barbie for Suzie on her fifth b-day. LOL.
  9. Did you check your spam folder. your e-mail may have thought it was junk.
  10. November 2 by smcpeaknkids (804 found) Wow, This was a tough one to get. I am in town from Phoenix AZ for a funeral and this one was only two miles from my aunt and uncles house so I thought easy grab in a cemetary at night. WRONG. We get there with some family we are visiting(mx6xplorers) and there are a group of about 8 people with flash lights in the cemetery. We figure "hey maybe they are cachers" WRONG again. They are ghost hunters and are very adamant about us leaving so we do not disturb the energy. We tell them we are from out of town and will only take about 7 min. They said that would not work for them we needed to come back in an hour because they came clear from Kansas City to do what they came to do. LOL we had people from Vermont, Phoenix and Branson but we did not feel like arguing with people who take there business with the paranormal this seriously especially since we had a van full of children. Needless to say we came back an hour and a half later and found the cache. T TB L TBS TFTC
  11. A very prolific cacher in my area owns a geocache in a cemetary. It is a puzzle cache in honor of his child that died of SIDS. It is a simple way for him to bring awareness to sids and to share with others his loss and to honor a memory. I have no problem with a cemetary cache done in taste.

  13. I collect sig items. My sig item is a wooden knickel that I designed. You can see the design on my profile page at gc.com.
  14. Cangratulations. After 20 months of caching we just hit 800. Cache on.
  15. I live out west of phoenix and I saw this request to late you are probably already out and about. BDharrisaz has some very inventive ones and I myself have some that are easy and some that are a little more challenging.
  16. It dooes take just a little time to figure out all its ins and outs but I love mine and would not trade it for anything. Increadibly accurate.
  17. I would have to go back and check for sure but I think my record is about 27 in one day. We went from sun up to sundown. It was a blast. other than that I have gotten 7 or 8 a couple of times.
  18. I am not sure I remember what rain looks like. []
  19. Ok I have been doing this for well over a year now but would be considered by many to still be a newbie. I have nearly 500 finds (who's counting? Its posted on the banner so I know) but about 4/5 of these were urban finds. I am a single dad and cannot get out of town to do the hikes at the drop of a pin but I can do a 5 mile curcuit and spend some quality time with my kids and even then we usually find some cool spots in town we did not know about. I can see how the game has changed and evolved but the old way is still there too. I say just play the game and quit trying complaining. I am truly sorry for the starter of this thread and the experience he had. I have had nothing but good luck with the cachers I have met.
  20. People try and make the game to complicated. If the kids were there let them log it. Try and log the date the team was there. They are not hurting anyone as I suppose they are still part of the larger team they are just adding thier name to an on line log. Let them play the game. It's all about the fun isn't it. Don't rain on the kids parade.
  21. I like keep track of milestones, mine and my friends. I also like to know when someone new to caching takes up the sport here locally, so I can welcome them personally. Other than that, I wouldn't miss them. My words exactly
