  1. Thought mine was doing well until I saw Horsey mad girl's bug... already made it from the UK to Oz, 10 k+ miles
  2. Is this the old style tag with all numbers and no letters? I get 172 hits for "Curious George" when I search trackables, though not all of these are dog tags. Might take a look to see if anything matches up. Very curious, indeed!
  3. Actually handled a bug today that requested that it be logged into each cache visited. But, I must agree that multiple pages of visits make my eyes glaze over, unless they are from my racing tortoise, who needs to log as many miles as possible between now and the end of November... so I might say that the decision to do this might be situation-specific.
  4. I also tend to take a proprietary interest in bugs that I help to move, even if I don't always set a watch on them. It is frustrating to see so many of them stolen or mishandled though. I do try to learn from those experiences though, and develop a better idea of where or where not to leave bugs; although there doesn't always seem to be any reason or rhyme to which caches are more vulnerable to predation.
  5. IP.Board has their own iPhone app, but apparently the version Groundspeak is currently using is not supported. Got this from them the other day: Invision Power Services Security Update: 27th December 2012 A critical security issue has been reported to us, and we are releasing a critical security update today to patch this issue. Instructions We are providing a patch for IP.Board versions 3.4, 3.3, 3.2, and 3.1. Version 3.1 is end of life for support but we are still providing the patch for the convenience of clients who have not yet upgraded. If you are running a version less than 3.1 you should upgrade to get this and other security enhancements. Please read the announcement for complete details. Invision Power Services · Unsubscribe This may just be revenue generation, but maybe it will encourage them to upgrade.
  6. One of the cachers in my area allows the FTF to rename the cache and just uses some generic place-holder name to start with.
  7. Not yet. It will be coming out the first part of the month. Any news on which month 8^) Bump
  8. There are also a few digital TB's out there that allow folks to load music, photos, etc. onto them, but they have some potential drawbacks as well as you have no control over what gets put on them.
  9. Delorme still has a download button on their site for cache register, but it takes you here instead.
  10. Read the "Jeeps on Ebay" thread and see if you still think this is a good idea.
  11. Sounds like I will not be upgrading to 6.0... good to know. Or see here for a work-around.
  12. Must not work on safari mobile, or else it defaults to it.
  13. Any chance of a forum upgrade to make it compatible with mobile apps?
  14. While I really like the wording on Groundspeak's version, I do regret that it is not fully scalable. By the time you shrink it down to a size that I find useful, the text is unreadable due primarily to the large relative size of the graphic. It also does not readily lend itself to a two-sided copy, as might be useful when laminating while trying to keep size to a minimum. I have been placing laminated mission statements inside 2 1/4" x 3 1/4" acrylic keychain photo frames then using the cable through the hole intended for the keychain to secure it to the TB. I'm still experimenting with the best ways to seal the frame.
  15. Makes you wonder if we might be setting up a situation where TB's are "kidnapped" from a cache and held for "ransom" on eBay.
  16. Back in the bad old days when the GPS signal was still scrambled and Magellans were the size of shoe boxes, averaging readings was standard operating procedure.
  17. Any further word on this? I'm looking at the same 3 for my iPhone. Emprum does seem to have the best customer support of the bunch, but I haven't seen many folks using them for caching. Do we really need the 5 k update or is this more important for lap timers traveling at 150 mph?
