  1. I would recommend the Peak as an easy hike for first time geocacher in Hong Kong (although it's not in north-east HK). There are different size caches around the peak loop that's fairy easy. If you want to make it more challenging physically, you can hike up the High West as well. As btonyb said, most of Hk geocacher hang out @ the facebook group, your question will definitely answer much faster and more informative! Hope you enjoy geocaching in HK!
  2. Hi yssk, If you are in HK on the 20th, you might want to join the meet and greet. Otherwise, you can send me email through geocaching.com and I can forward out ur message. Welcome to Hong Kong! wuster
  3. Hi Teahan_family_hk, I noticed that you are from Hong Kong, you might want to check out the Hong Kong geocaching group on Facebook if you haven't visited the FB page yet. Most active HK geocachers "hangout" there. We could share w/ u some experience geocaching in HK and might even help u out w/ ur school group if needed. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=12544100334 Happy Caching! wuster
  4. Ducatinat, there's a Hong Kong Geocaching Facebook Group, come check us out if you haven't joined us yet. Most of the HK geocachers hang out there.
  5. Hi Willis, and welcome to the non-lurking side of the forums You say you currently live in HK - where are you originally from? Thanks! oh... haha... actually, I am from Hong Kong, but have lived in the US for 20 years before returning a few years back.
  6. Hi, I am Willis, caching name is wuster. I am another one of those serious lurker, been caching and lurking on the forum since 2006, but only have 9 posts (including this one) to my credit. I am currently living in Hong Kong, used to live near the Lilypad where I first started this addiction... I have adopted 2 coins recently from very nice cachers in this forum, but one of those coin seems to have gone missing after only 1 month out in the wild. Happy Caching! wuster
  7. There are a fair number of geocaches in China; I have not had any problem using my GPSr in Southern China and haven't heard anyone else having problem. Just use your best judgement and not to use it around sensitive area like military base/chemical plant and such. Happy Caching in China!
  8. My new GC is at an airport travelbug hotel awaiting for takeoff. Can't wait to see it travel across the ocean!
  9. Adoption completed! Many thanks!! Looking to track its travel and making its way to HK!
  10. I would love to adopt a coin. I used to have 2 back in 2007, but they got lost in the wild and was never seen again... thanks!
  11. Welcome to Hong Kong! For the more touristy cache, I would recommend those caches on top of the Peak and around Tsim Sha Tsui area, they are the easier, more popular tourist caches which will give you good view of Urban Hong Kong. The caches around the Big Buddha on Lantau Island are also good too. Those area are pretty "easy" to get to as HK has one of the better public transportation system. We have a Hong Kong Geocaching group on Facebook. You might want to come check us out, maybe others on the group can give you more idea of which caches to do. wuster
  12. Received my coins a few days ago. They are great!!! Thanks!
  13. I will have a 6 hours layover (transfer) at the Narita airport sometime next month. Does anyone know if I can get out of the airport during that time? If so, how close are the caches to the airport? Are they within walking distance? Do I need to take some sort of transportation to get there from the airport? thanks, Wuster
  14. Can anyone make a State/Country geocoin? Is there any spoken/unspoken rule about that? thanks! Wuster
