  1. My guess would be you have nearly unlimited jokers on here, me included of course, if not in a deck. Glad to hear it won't be based on mere quantity, especially with gas going up nearly 40 cents in the last week or two. No silly, FOUR named Ace and ONE named Joker. There are only four aces in a deck! Of course there is the possibility that we will have "deuces" (2's) wild. Just how many available "Jokers" are out there, anyways? John
  2. I'm looking for a bike mount for a Garmin GPS V. Thanks. Bob Williams
  3. Yes, thank you very much. Very nice articles. Is this magazine available online for free?
  4. So, quit goofing around reading forum comments and get out there.... Read where there are supposed to be over 500 in my county but a great many of them have been destroyed, mostly by farmers and developers. That's right! I have already weeded out all the bad ones for your hunting pleasure!
  5. Yeah, AZ, are there any in AZ you HAVEN'T found or searched for....? That's right! I have already weeded out all the bad ones for your hunting pleasure!
  6. Received the pathtag in great condition. Thanks. Now, to recover from the contest and learn how to use the pin finder.... Thanks again.
  7. good idea. there are pics showing all the areas and we know they are there? you're bound to win.
  8. There is a benchmark on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign that is in a "well" with a manholelike cover over it and a small cache in an altoids container with magnets attached to the inside of the lid. works very nicely.
  9. Got online at a public library computer to see how the contest pans out. I really think Azcachemeister should quit goofing around and find a few bench marks. Don't know how he has that much time. geez.
  10. This is a correction from my last finding log. I listed AI3481 twice and should have listed the one below. That's what I get for trying to do more than one thing at a time. Happy Hunting everyone. I'm at a library computer for a few weeks and they frown on downloading pics. So, I'll just watch how this comes out. Good luck everyone. AB7254, REG
  11. This will be the end of the contest for me. Due to a serious family illness I have to go several hundred miles and won't even have access to a computer I can put digital pictures on. So, things will just fall where they may from now on. It has been fun even after gas prices went crazy. Enjoyed getting really into what is a new hobby for me. Thanks to 2oldfarts for sponsoring the contest and Happy Hunting to all of you, as John says. LC0587, REG LC0398, REG LC0406, REG LC0617, REG AI3481, REG AI3481, REG
  12. Almost all of my benchmark photos for the contest have been in portrait mode. That seems to work very well. At least John hasn't said since my very first entries that there has been a readability problem and that wasn't because of the portrait mode.

  14. AF8987, REG Pretty lousy benchmark hunting day today but I did find out where a lot of benchmarks aren't and won 4 tickets to a White Sox game partly because I was benchmarking. Can't have everything, I guess.

  17. They're not getting my probing device. Or, maybe they're doing this because I lost two recently and left them near the bench marks...too dangerous?? I think this is the key phrase in the announcement. I would agree with Artman that there won't be any outward sysem changes at this time. Dang! Are they going to take away the screwdrive that I use for a probe? And my pocket knife?
  18. No way I can compete with some of you folk. Gas is just too darn high these days and there just isn't enough daylight. But, have a few to add to the bunch. LC0863, DNF***** LC0855, REG LC0827, REG MF0872, REG MF0874, REG MF0876, REG MF0745, REG MF0867, REG

  20. Not a real productive day. Ended up finding several I couldn't use and being beaten by the very high weeds. Should have done more searching while it was still winter. LC1792, REG LC0404, REG LC0403, REG LC0604, REG LC1673, REG

The cords were very close and the description was right on but I just couldn't get the numbers to pop up. So, I leave it to the discretion of the judges to decide and fully understand if it doesn't qualify.
  22. Didn't mean there are vortacs as bench marks in the Upper Peninsula. Just some interesting looking bench marks. Uh, I'm a 4 hours drive north of Chicago....so quite a bit aways unfortunately.
  23. well, you can always check out the one in Alaska. There are also some neat ones in the Upper Peninsula should you be wandering up that way.... Uh, I'm a 4 hours drive north of Chicago....so quite a bit aways unfortunately.
  24. Yeah, there are a couple I'm going to try to get permission to check out. How close are you to Ohio? There are a couple vortacs there and a couple in Illinois. That is a cool find!! We've got nothing like that here. Although we did manage to find our oldest BM date today..... 1926. Tried for another 1872 but it started raining and well, the description was sketchy at best. We are hoping for better weather as we think we know the general location. Now to just talk to some of the locals and see if we can't get permission to take a look.
