  1. Welcome to geocaching, hope you have great journey full of excitement and enjoyment.... Not sure why you would want to download .LOC files? .GPX files are the files you want for geocaching...You are a premium Member, so I would suggest/recommend that you use another program for manipulating files (.GPX)...I use GSAK (geocaching Swiss army knife) for all my file "sends" to my 60CSx GPS. GSAK is a supper program for caching and fun to use. GSAK for the laptop Cachemate for the PDA Good luck and stay safe
  2. Check my profile page....I can download hints, type of container, and type of cache....good luck and stay safe.....I use a 60CSx
  3. To make it easier try this....If you think you are serious about caching....Become a premium member, buy GSAK (Geocaching Swiss army Knife), and then "send" all your cache sites....You have a great GPS receiver, but you need other programs to get the most enjoyment from caching. Check my profile page for additional information that you may need. Who knows where your journey will take you. Good luck and stay safe...
  4. For less or about $100, you can buy Delorme Street Atlas 2009 with GPS receiver for your laptop, which you can download geocaches to this program, super program...I have been using it for 14 years....For geocaching.....garmin Map 60CSx...Try not to think "cheap", if you do, it will cost you more down the road and you wont be a happy cacher....Good luck and stay safe
  5. CacheMate and GSAK are good starters with all the peripheral stuff...works great for me.....good luck and stay safe.
  6. you can use the garmin 60CSx with a Palm PDA for "paperless" caching..or.I have all the "stuff" to be paperless", but I was able setup my GSAK to give me the most important PDA info.....1) What kind of cache, traditional, Multi, etc,....2) what kind of container3) and the hint....I can download this info when sending to my GPSr via GSAK....This info is on my 60CSx, so I really don't need to look on my PDA for information about the cache, unless I need more info...I find that the cache page on a PDA is uncomfortable to use due to all the info in one place, and scrolling. With one quick look I can see what I need, Happy hunting
  7. My recommendations only...your choice 1st choice Garmin .....Map 60CSx 2nd choice......eTrex legend Cx Remember....You get what you pay for..... A "cheap" Receiver may cost you more down the road when you want to upgrade. Happy hunting and stay safe..........
  8. I resemble those remarks. Except for the baby seal thing. Clubbing takes too long. Shaaa I KNOWWWW..... And they like, NEVER pay their tab. Who hates "ammo" cans the most.....
  9. Nominate a committee to vote on your selections...I don't think the membership should be involved at all...we could care less and don't know all members that may be interested. It sounds like a "click" thing to me.
  10. Garmin Map 60CSx....price does not matter...............Merry Christmas and Good Luck...
  11. I woluld keep the eTrex Legend for a back up, it may come in handy....Merry Christmas and good luck.
  12. A Garmin Map 60CSx will solve all problems. It is a great GPSr. Happy Holidays and a Merry Christmas.
  13. I have my Garmin Map 60CSx, my IPhone & PDA combo, GSAK, Cachemate, Premium Membership, Laptop, small carrying case with all items I need for on the road caching, Four (4) Travel Bugs-2 in Canada, 1 in France and 1 in the USA, Small digital camera I use for caching only, Small flashlight that I carry in my pocket, black and red pens that I carry on a lanyard around my neck, A small spiral note book for logging finds and logging hides, A belt clip for my GPSr, A photograph's vest for wearing during caching (it has so many pockets), so I can't, at this time, think of any thing else I need for caching, except for someone to push me out the door with my GPSr loaded with caches for a "cache run" to that place were caches are just every where to be found. Happy caching and Happy Holidays. I hope what you want will be under the Christmas Tree. WT73
  14. You made the correct buy on a GPSr...now read the manual, read the manual, etc. Also play with all the buttons to see what they do....It is a great receiver, one that you wont regret ever buying. Happy caching and have fun with the 60CSx, and stay safe.
  15. Aw heck, for yourself, get a garmin map 60csx (your worth it)and GFI....Get a cheap GPSr for the others, but still GFI....Stay safe and Happy hunting...oh yea, good luck...Merry Christmas to all your family
  16. It is just a recommendation, but if you want full benefits....become a Premium Member, then buy GSAK and CacheMate....GSAK for your computer and Cachemate for your PDA....That is my recommendation, with these programs you will have a great caching journey with just turns and curves, but no bumps. Stay safe and happy hunting. Check my "Profile Page" for information that maybe of use to you...
  17. I have logged all the caches in my Local Area, so I must make "cache runs", so if you view my "Profile Page" (near the end)....You will get an Idea of what I do in preparation for the "run"...Happy caching and stay safe.
  18. Why would "nerds" like us want to get on a public forum like this and spouse what we would like to change about a very excellent, well thought out, extremely easy to use program. This Ground Speak program is abut the best thing that has happened to me in a very long time, and it is just a lot of enjoyment. No don't change a thing, don't even think about changing anything. If changes are needed, then GS will make those changes. There must be a topic somewhere that you can vent you likes and dislikes about Groundspeak. Go there and vent, but leave the changes to GS, I'm sure they have heard your rantings. Or, you could take up an other "hobby" etc.....So Go fishing or somthing.....
  19. I carry a golf extending pole that reaches out to about 20-25...it is used to retrieve golf balls in the water. I have used it several times caching. Just another tool....Happy caching
  20. Wow, just get a Garmin Map 60CSx and all your problems will be a thing of the past....I'm just amazed every time I use the 60CSx....It has got to be the best GPSr going............Happy hunting
  21. "I have a very limited budget and have found both the garmin etrex H and the garmin venture, both say they are not recommended for geocaching, however I only want it to do the basics, like letting me type in coordinates and then I can follow the trail"..That is what you say now, but things and times change and you will end up with a cheap GPSr, PA, etc...Just pay 10-15% more and go 1st class. Oh, I would recommend the Garmin Map 60CSx....Happy Hunting.
