  1. The "Virts" that I have found (logged) were very nice and interesting caches....I just prefer caches that have a log to sign & date. Stay safe and hide a few "traditional" cache containers with log only and once in while put a container out for the kids with "goodies"....
  2. Wow what a gang of misguided cachers, a cacher can hide an "Ammo Box" or larger container almost any where, Woods, Urban , downtown....It is all skill in the camoflough and placement of the box......It is only 528 feet separation between cache placements. Your reviewer will help you that guidance. Keep your mind open and enjoy all types of caches. As for me I just like the "traditional" with log.....stay safe and hide those caches for other cachers to log.
  3. alkaline batteries discharge only when using. rechargeable batteries start discharging immeditly and can drop dead anytime without warning...Alkaline will give you you a warning when need replacing.I have used both, but prefer the alkaline....simple, no recharging time and they last about 18hours, which is a lot of caching. I carry pockets full of alkaline batteries. I will never have my GPSr run out of battery power. stay Safe.
  4. Size/type of container???That is what the description page is for after the container is identified as a Micro, small, or regular....stay safe.
  5. Just the "GPSMap 60CSX....It is the best for Geocaching and car navigation...for the price...remember you get what you pay for...Stay Safe
  6. It's a tiny cache, about the size of the tip of your pinky that typically only holds a small, rolled up log, as referred by dclark21....In my area we call this cache container a "Pica" ..... Lots of fun to locate. A "nano" is a small container similar to the container that is inside a "bison tube"....."Pica's" and "nanos", I feel, should always be described in the Cache description because they are smaller then a "Micro" container. Stay safe and keep a sharp eye out for those tiny containers.
  7. Excellent choice and buy ....The 60CSX is a great GPSr, just get to know it and what it can do....with a premium membership and GSAK, you will have just about all you need for the geocaching experience. Stay safe.
  8. excellent choice....just follow the manual...stay safe.
  9. A "smiley is a smiley"...no matter the size. Just enjoy caching and get some "numbers". GFI....
  10. GPS Map60CSX...It is timeless...good luck and just cache as much as you can.
  11. Buy alkaline off the shelf and check the battery life....for your GPSr, Alkalines are #1 in my book. Stay safe.
  12. Just keep on keeping on...all you need is experience....Success and failure will always be there for you and all of us. Stay safe. also remember, the cache container may not be where your GPSr is indicating, so look around the area from 10-30 feet. You are experiencing two different GPSrs readings....yours and the hiders. good luck and stay safe.
  13. "7 Dust" in a sock with knot....then dust over your shoes, socks, and pants. I would not dust on skin. "7 dust" will sure kill those ticks, etc....Stay safe

  15. Your 60CSX can be used as a modified PDA...Check my profile page. Stay safe.

  17. On most geocaching questions, you can "google" the question and get a very good answer. Google is a super program....Happy caching.
  18. You will find a solution....I bought a teloscopic pole used for fishing golf balls from the water. It works great on these types of cache....and fits almost any where...Happy caching and stay safe.
  19. Yes to all the below...........garmin Map 60CSx will give you all that you need, except cache information on a PDA, however, check my profile page and you can use your 60csx as a "modified" PDA with just the info you need to find a cache.... When buying "anything" don't think "cheap".....It is not what you need, it is what you want....don't know what you mean by "don't want "bells & whistles"? A GPS unit is just that...no bells and no whistles. GSAK for the PC...Cachemate for the PDA....good Luck *********** I am very new to Geocaching. I would love some simple advice on a GPS unit. I would like to go with Garmin, purely because of the relationship with Geocaching. Can anyone advise me whether the eTrex H will be sufficient - to simply direct me to the location of the cache? I am not interested in any bells and whistles right now, just want to get started. Also, if i go for a basic unit, do I need GSAK software to download the cache co-ordinates? Do I simply use it whilst connected via USB/Serial and download to the GPS unit form the Geocaching website? Would appreciate any advise on any of the above points. Cheers
  20. "Send" to 60csx as .gpx files (geocaches) via GSAK..stay safe.
  21. A painted ammo box to blend in with the rocks.....very effective... Stay safe
