  1. Dude. Not helping. Not helping is exactly what this thread is doing. This has turned into a huge p*ssing contest and I would like to ask, WHERE ARE THE MODERATORS? Is this really what they want the great forums to be? Some of you worry about a picture posted on a worldwide site but you'll bash a man YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW on a worldwide site! The people that have no problem with the picture have just as much rights to it staying as those that want it gone. PERIOD! It's a wash. The reason this thread is so long is because the same handful of people keep posting because they like to see themselves talk. Someone else requested this thread be closed and so do I. What has been said has been said. The picture will NOT be deleted so its time to MOVE ON!
  2. #1 on my geowishlist is a reliable geomobile that gets better than 16MPG #2 on my geowishlist is an attractive human female (or two) with questionable morals to ride shotgun in said geomobile. I think both items are self-explanatory. OMG I think I peed myself after reading #2.....LMBO!!!!
  3. GOOD GRAVY! Why has this thread gone as far as it has?! Oh wait, I know...free speech and all that jazz. First of all, those of us that cache in Western North Carolina know of the bad blood, feelings, what-have-you, between Ozguff and Atrus. This is another ridiculous attempt to ruffle feathers. Of course Ozguff got some negatives toward Atrus because...ssshhh....the man in the picture is of...ssshhh...color and GASP, he is the president too. Open any paper, magazine or watch any late night comedy show and I'm sure you will see some of the same "comedic expression" concerning the very same man. So people get over it! It's comedy. Objectionable is why it was brought up in the first place. There have been worse things I've come across caching but I certainly wouldn't call someone on it. I think the option to post a pic was a fun way to mix it up and makes reading the logs alot more fun since most have become quite lazy. TFTC! Ozguff knows how I feel about him and Atrus. I consider both to be friends. Ozguff has been kind enough to maintain caches for me and has shown me friendship during a hard personal time. Atrus and his wife have been so helpful during my divorce that I will feel indebted to them forever. I just wish the nit-picking would stop. I was told about this thread by another caching friend and wanted to voice an opinion from someone that knows both parties. I see nothing good about a thread like this and would request it be closed. All that can be said or helpful has been said. Anything else is just for spite and hurtfulness. (and some of you are concerned about a picture of a someone that doesn't even know you personally) If it wasn't a post you would make, how bad is it REALLY? Ya know, in the GRAND SCHEME OF THINGS! If you are worried about racism or objectiveness try remembering this is a game! If your not having fun then find another playground. If you wanna call someone out, look at your own posts to people you don't even know. Some of you are just mean to be mean. You might as well be a racist of Italians. BTW, Atrus is 100% Italian. 4. Yep, this one would instantly go to my ignore (if I could tell in advance). I wonder how some of the owners would feel if their caches ended up on bookmarks? I've heard more than one person suggest just this to me... I wouldn't, but I wouldn't stop someone else from doing it either...just saying! Sweetie if you wanna put mine on a bookmark you just go right ahead. I could care less if you ignore my caches. This game is to be enjoyed by ALL KINDS of people. Use COMMON SENSE and you won't get hurt. Personally I like caches like this. I'm certainly not gonna go sticking screw drivers into anything anyway. If a tool is required to open a cache of mine its stated on the page. If you don't read that then its pretty well know that all you need is your hand to open the container. Also the difficulty rating goes up if special equipment is required. As far as families caching. I cache with my 10yr and even she knows not to approach this kinda cache. If she thinks its something unsafe she asks me. Even if we've found and hidden that kind of hide. Finding ammo cans and LnLs can get pretty boring. A different kinda container is refeshing. This kind of thread is really kinda silly. We have caches that require repelling down a mtn, crawling around in snake and spider infested drain pipes. Don't bump someone's style of hide that is WITHIN guidelines because you are too scared to do it. Problem with the guidelines is that people misconstrue them as hard core rules. Just because someone MIGHT try to open a electrical box that will be locked anyway if its dangerous is not a reason to do away with them all. So let us all respect the fact that some have the right to ignore (or bookmark) certain caches and others have the right to hide them.
  5. OK I so wanna do the car one! How do I do that?
  6. I haven't had any cachers complain about my electrical box type hides here is one The site The container The cache with magnets in center top and bottom This cache has been received well in the area. Not sure what all the fuss is. Common sense goes a long way.
  7. It has been awhile since I've purchased a set of lock-n-locks but wanna say $30 seems a wee bit high. But trying to chase down a deal can end up costing more in gas and effort sometimes. I've found some pretty good deals on line and web surfing can be easier when getting a deal. As far as some of the comments about LNLs not holding up. I'm in the mtns where temps get below freezing and the LNLs do very well. WE have found the knock offs do not seal as well. The following site I have used to buy altoid like tins in bulk. http://www.sks-bottle.com/340c/fin7b.html If you went in with a group you'd do really well. I also have bought their plastic screw top jars as well. I paint both and they do pretty well. My most EXPENSIVE cache container I did cost $50 a month, LOL It was the end of my now archived The Whoo Hoo Cache. It was a storage building filled with boxes that cachers had to sort through to find the gumball machine hidden in the back covered with a stack of boxes. Cachers could if they wanted for an extra treat put 2 quarters in and get a container that had some gum and a GC related prize, patch, pin, etc. It stayed active a little over a year. I'm currently thinking up another multi that will tap my resources and give me a warm and fuzzy feeling. lol http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...bf-7a2ebfade470
  8. The only one I'd "excuse" is the log wet since that is my responsibility.
  9. So you are saying someone can't get over 100 caches in a day with someone else signing the logs else where for you. I know it can be done. You just need to plan your day out. Not at all just find it curious and know of some that do it the way I said. If you can get 100 caches in one day. More power to you.
  10. I think its a wonderful and thoughtful idea! Your friends are lucky to have you as well as your geocaching community! I give you a virtual lollipop for your kindness!
  11. The rules are simple enough WRITE IN THE LOGBOOK. Its the only way to prove you were physically there. There is enough group caching that has people signing for their buddies when they are across town doing the same thing. Ever wonder why some can only get 20 caches in a day and others get over 100. Interesting, guess they ate their Wheaties. Some rules just need to stay put no matter how many variations there are to the game. If a person takes the time and expense to put a cache out for YOU to find then SIGN the dang log and at the very LEAST type 3 more letters T...FTC. Its sad to think you need to go checking behind adults. I've hidden 101 caches that at completion the cacher gets a custom made trackable geocoin. (Not available any other way) I've thought about the possibility of people just logging on line without physically visiting the cache. I also have a life and can't go behind everybody to see if they actually signed it. Also what is interesting is when one goes missing there seems to be alot of on-line logs then its "gone" usually then reported by a local (who I know signs). So unfortuanately there is then no record and no one can get "busted". Its a tough choice but as owner its YOUR cache and if YOU want to police the on-line logs against the physical logs that is YOUR choice! I agree with it and would do the same. Mainly as a point! The lazy cachers can feel free to press the groovy little ignore button on my hides if they don't like it! If all played with intergity we wouldn't have a thread like this! I liked the posting a disclaimer like thing near their log too, if they are persistant enough to keep logging it. When it comes down to it, how much time and energy do you wanna spend on this person. If they can live with the lie then just spread the word about them to your buddies to warn them and wash your hands of them. Cache On!
  12. I'm new to the forums and just started posting some replys. I plan to lurk more though. WHEW! them there posts can get wild.
  13. DUDE I'm STILL Laughing!!! That is SOOO like me to do!
  14. Funny I come across this topic when I'm totally bummed about not getting to cache. This weekend my husband is having a kidney stone attack.....::pause for moans:: yes bless his little heart @#%#^$ I was PLANNING on caching all day today then going to the national CITO event in my area tomorrow but noooooooooooo gotta take him to get it blasted. I do love him....lol There has also been work to get in the way, kid issues, headache, college paper due. I will have to say KNOCK ON WOOD I haven't had transportation issues yet. My numbers are so low given how long I've cached. Its getting embarrassing. At least I have more hides then most of my buddies. :-p Hope the bike is back on the trail soon!
  15. Dude if you manage that I wanna know cause I'm so coming to Michigan and doing it! SWEET!
  16. My thoughts exactly! If there are any first time hiders reading this post I say to you: Just hide it! I waited until I had 100 finds before hiding my first. I had a pretty good feel for the way things were done in my area but still managed to flub up on the first by "guideline" standards. (Even after reading them a gazillion times, they are pretty loose) The 2nd was put on NCGO's greatest hits list. So I say to all that desire the groovy first timer pride that is cache ownership, take your altoid containers and tupperware and find the lamest spot because dog gone it I love ya! You just gave me an opportunity for another smiley! Remember the only one you have to answer to is the reviewer. (and/or the property owner if you forgot to ask, lol) The cache snobs can go climb a mountain. :-p There will always be someone trying to knock ya down or mess with you in any aspect of life. Even in the GAME you have grown to love! CACHE ON! Laineybug :-p
