  1. After one week at 3 feet down it is still waterproof. I didn't really doubt it anyways. It will take a few weeks to get everything ready, if it leaks by thel i'll just put it on land. Joe Smith
  2. I have a hydro cache almost ready to place. I put the cache underwater about a week ago with just a sheet of paper to test for dampness. It is a 30 cal ammo can under about 3 feet of water, and secured to a stump with a hook. This weekend i plan to check on it to see if it passed the test. I have been conditioning the seal with petrol jelly for a few weeks, and treated everything with rustolium paint. I think it will hold up very well, but just in case the log boook is a bunch of notecards that I have laminated. The cache needs to be signed with a small sharpie. No matter now wet it gets the log should be okay. I will also ask the all trades be waterproof. It is in fresh water, and it is so murky you can't even see it at one foot down. I don't think it will be muggled. There are no real currents to strain the container, and it is suspended upside down, so if it leaks we can only expect an inch or so inside. If this thread is still around I will let you know how it works. Joe Smith
  3. That happened long, long ago. Jamie *sigh* yeah, that's about right
  4. That's okay, I'm already owned by the credit card companies and the credit union. Joe Smith
  5. K-9, It is WONDERFUL that you have good taste in radio. Most people your age wouldn't be caught dead listening to NPR. this American Life is one of the best shows I have ever found. Joe Smith
  6. Might have been an honest mistake. I have thousands of pictures like that right next to my caching pics. Whoops I doubt it because he took the time to name it "bg" (I googled, it's called a "Harness ball gag") Does he not know they have sites that will host for free? or that it is technically hosted for free from the site? Edit: I took out the link, the site may be considered porn. But the people in OT can't figgure out what porn is, and what should be censored. If you want to see it, just google. And for the record, whatever consenting adults want to do in private is no conscern to me. Hope they have fun. This pic does not belong on geocaching.com I might send an email and ask that it be removed. Because this person is new, they may not know that anyone can see the pictures that are posted. Joe Smith
  7. Not only am i having the lockup problem, i can't get my compass to stay calabrated. When i switch it on it does not register any movement (as indicated by the speed sensor) I had great reception at all times, and the second i switched off the compass it fixed itself. Any thoughts?
  8. I thought it was just me It did this to me all day today, and a few times last week. Taking out the batteries solved that problem. Where can i download the old beta software again. I didn't have any problems with it. Joe Smith
  9. it's called mnenhy, or something like that I did a google for "firefox rot13 extension" It's not on the normal extension list What it does Where you can get it
  10. While i don't keep a firearm on me, we have plenty at the house. Never had to shoot anyone but we have had some scary times here. i slept in the barn with a shotgun for weeks after we got death threats. i have a pocket knife in my pocket at all times. Quite often when i get a little tense about whatever situation i am in my hand goes straight for that knife. I have only pulled it out once, not when caching but for a "friendly" dog. if it was friendly I never want to see a mean dog. (No, I didn't use it but it made me feel better) The way i see it is you need to take care of your family. If that means running away, shooting someone, taking a blow with the log, or fighting for your life DO IT. When in a situation like that all bets are off. If you face legal action for protecting your family then you really have to wonder about our legal system. Now if you read this and think that i enjoy fighting, or shooting, or violence you are dead wrong. i took an oath of peace two years ago and I stick to that. But you can be peaceful and still take care of yourself and your family. People who know me realize that i am a very gentle man. However nobody that i know has ever seen me in a fight. Growing up i got picked on allot. I learned how to defend myself, and i didn't forget. Do what it takes, follow through with the police when it's all over and pray that this man gets the help he needs. Even if that includes a jail cell.
  11. I went back to a site I found in my early days. It is right beside the "fountain of youth", a small doorway and a spring (It didn't work). Sitting on top of the fountain was a shoebox wrapped in a few plastic bags. i thought it was porn, no luck. Turns out it's a personal "cache" for this horny teenager's girlfriend. It had love letters, pictures, and a cd he made for her. Touching stuff. I left a note wishing them well, and told them about geocaching and hiding the caches a little better.
  12. I just downloaded this encoder / decoder thing for Firefox So now I can do rot13, base 64, UU encode, morse code, kenny, 1337, and a few others. oKBSZXBseWluZyB0byBUb2RheSdzIENhY2hlciBObyBMb25nZXIgUHVibGlzaGVk Fun stuff
  13. Okay, I was wrong The point is it is still hard to keep up. But I do think we should have a nude cacher locationless here. I have the pictures, just too shy to post them online Joe Smith
  14. Something to think about I enjoy locationless caches. I actually enjoy having a static database, fourteen pages gives you many you can find wthout having to sort through to many pages. On Terracaching where they allow new virtual caches they have about 6-12 placed EVERY DAY It's hard to keep up on it. Makes it kinda depressing too.
  15. After I donated once they just kept hounding me. I don't know by blood type but I guess they want allot of it. Plus my veins are the size of a garden hose. That bag filled up quick! Then I got a tattoo, and that was six months. They stopped calling I may do it again, but only if I get an oatmeal rasin cookie. They tried to get me with a chocolate chip, just won't cut it. Joe Smith
  16. I hope you guys or kidding and this is some kind of inside joke. because I saw TC before the password and it was a stupid little cartoon. Funny, but stupid. Joe Smith
  17. No I do it when I change the batteries, other than that it's good
  18. You will notice that many of the people who replied use the 60cs. there is a reason for that, garmin came through with a unit that has what the people want. It has an amazing screen, good maps, large memory, GREAT antenna, and all the other bells and whistles to boot. You really can't go wrong with that unit. For the belt clip, just get in the habit of tightening it every now and then. i keep it on my hip al the time and it's still tight. Joe Smith
  19. I got the gpsgeek case, it's nice but I still can't get used to having it in there. so now i'm getting scratches on the screen. Oh well
  20. Sorry what were you interested in? I'm waiting for a final email from the person who wants the topo. If they don't get back to be it could stil be yours. Joe Smith
