Number Of First To Finds In One Day
The Flying Boots replied to FunLovingGeocacher's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
Only 2 for us and one of those we weren't trying for as we'd already had a FTF earlier that same week with a cache set by Sid and Bob. We thought we'd wait and give someone else a chance at a FTF but by the end of the weekend it still hadn't been found and we just couldn't resist doing at at the end of a days caching as it was so local and in such a lovely area. -
The World Has Gone Mad!

You're ok as long as I have been upside down as to eat whilst doing it gives me indigestion -

Our favourite walking/geocaching food is Peanut Butter and Jam sandwiches so Boots may not be so daft after all -

Secret Society Or Public Domain
The Flying Boots replied to Donmoore's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
We've told everyone we know what we do and have had very mixed reactions from people thinking wer're a bit crazy to people thinking "what great fun". As yet no-one we know has dashed out and bought a gps to start doing it as well. It's a pity as we're short on local caches close to home now. We need more placers Our brother in-law got as far as looking up GC.com to find the details on one of our cache placed only spitting distance from where he lives. We wouldn't tell him it's exact location but have offered to loan him the GPS to find it himself but he's never taken us up on our offer. -
Waymark Managers Group:> Uk Trigpoints Managers

We've just started with TrigpointUK and we're sticking with that. It's much more user friendly than Waymarking.com and is well linked in with GeocachingUK. -
What Do You Look Like Out Caching?
The Flying Boots replied to The Blorenges's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
Virtuals make us do silly things -
Have just uploaded two pictures of a travel bug to its page then whilst viewing all my Gallery pictures I noticed these two had the upload date as being 1/1/1999. Checked my computer date and that is correct as being 9/6/2006. Very curious thing to happen. Has anyone else noticed a similar problem? Was this caused by yesterdays geocacing.com maintainance??

I use Yahoo mail too. Zip the files and no problems

Gps On A Mountain Bike
The Flying Boots replied to The Odd Socks's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
If you have a bike bought in the 90's, modern handlebars are much wider - you could upgrade your bars and gain an extra 4 inches of space. My bike is a road bike so I used dropped bars not straight -

I bought a handlebar mount for my Garmin 60 and then found I didn't have enough room on the handlebars for it because of Bike bag fixings, light fittings and brake cables etc etc -
I jot down notes on the pda (or paper) to remind myself when I get home. It gets confusing when we've done a lot of swapping and tb collecting as to what went where and came from where. So I also write down at the same time a bit about the walk, scenery, cache or anything just to jog my memory later at home.

Thanks for that info. Have now put it on the watched list for when it goes live again. -
Quest For The Ring Of Power
The Flying Boots replied to lordelph's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
Loved the video But where is the "Quest for the ring of Power". I've done a search but have found no matches -
I've discovered that my Garmin 60 will do this for me. I can type in either the grid reference or co-ordinate on a waymark page then go into preferences and change to whatever I want to view it as and the waymark will have been changed auomatically.

Its just put together all the things we liked to to before but in one lump. Excercise Walking The countryside visiting new places solving problems treasure hunting having more use for the Garmin than just a gadget to get us down from the mountains in bad weather surfing the internet (now for more caches rather than any thing else) Mr F.B's love of any gadgets (PDA's for example) meeting new people more purpose for our walks
-
Just been through our list and couldn't make any decisions as they all have different aspects which were fun to do. Our first few were exciting as they were the first. Some we loved for the walks and the views. Some we enjoyed solving the clues and puzzles. We liked all of them, easily pleased I guess.

Who Introduced Who?
The Flying Boots replied to purple_pineapple's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
www.yahoo.com was our introduction whilst generally surfing around for other things. -
We are new to this game only been at it a few months and 72 caches with 7 placed and we agree with the above quote. The forum is just like life in general and especially life where you get a wide cross section of people together who all have their differing ways of doing things, ideas opinions etc. We all have to live together in this world and we just accept that everyone has differing ideas and ways and that's what makes life interesting. It would be boring if we were all the same and wanted the same things out of life.

WOW!!!! Having read this thread yesterday and then putting 3 cahes up for review in one go this morning as they all revolve around a circular walk I was not expecting them to be "live" for days. Two hours later they were up and running. Many thanks Lactodorum
