  1. There is one in Natchez Trace state park off of I-40
  2. Welcome to the hobby or obsession as it were. Iwould encourage you to attend one of the Mid. Tenn. Geocacher meetings, where you can meet some of the people that you might see out on the trails.
  3. Welcome to the game, now get out there and play
  4. Add whatever you want to a cache, within reason. But remember that the items you might think as valuable may be just more juk to the next person finding the cache.
  5. Maybe it's only waterproof if it is accidently put in water. I have a older Garmin II+ that took a dunk in the Gulf of Mexico when the boat it was on almost sank. After getting the boat to shore and pumping out most of the water I inquired about my unit. the guy in the boat fished around in the water and came up with it. after approximately 45 minutes of being submerged it worked fine.
  6. This really only counts for summer caching, but my favorite is 2 T-shirts that were given to me as a gifts. one has Sheriff Dept. on the back the other has Federal Agent on the back. If I'm asked I say it's only a shirt but not that many people ask.
  7. Messy is in the eye of the beholder. I have room to sit and drive and most of the stuff I think I might need is mostly within reach. Now if someone wants to ride with me in my truck the stuff needs to be put in different places. but it's not messy
  8. I used offroute.com for my purchase of my garmin 76s and was very satisfied with the price and the delivery time. I did find the same unit ten dollars cheaper at another site but Offroute made a contribution to the geocaching site and saved me around 90 dollars by not going to the local retail store.
  9. I was looking to upgrade my GPS that I had bought 5 years ago and Garmin had a link from. there site to Geocaching.com Since then I have bought 2 gpsr. I think it might be a plot to make us buy more expensive playtoys. I'm lost but making good time
  10. I have to agree with Garminator. Don't give up on the Legend yet. I have used one on the majority of my finds with no problems at all. As Brian said the accuracy of the units can be variable in the hiding and finding, so I have learned that once it you are within 15-30 feet put the unit in your pocket and start just hunting the old fashion way. The old fashion way gets easier if you read last logs and if it comes to it the hint.
  11. I recently got a 76s and I love it. Lots of memory and capable of accepting an ouside antenna. Worth a look in my opinion.
  12. I too was looking to upgrade to possibly a V or the 76s. So I borrowed a buddies V to play with it, specfically the autorouting. When I first started it gave me a route that was reasonable since the shortest highway was new and had not made it to the maps yet, but when I got off this highway onto a road that was on the maps and about 3 miles from the house which I was going to, it still maintained I go back to it's original route and travel 17 miles to make the 3 mile journey. Based on that I put my order in for the 76s and I'll watch the screen for routing.
  13. If you keep calling yourself a newbie even after a 100 finds you may still be forgiven for stupid mistakes. Not that I would ever make one. I'm lost but making good time
  14. Can anyone tell me how often the stats at insidecorner.com update? It seems to be a few days at least behind the actual number of finds.
  15. While there is no time that a cache should be in one place, I would say leave it for a while. If the spot was good enough for you to have chosen it in the first place, people will eventually come to it.
  16. I'm not sure I understand the reasoning behind pulling his cache if your's was taken. If he's not interested in it anymore then you can just adopt it. Short of that, now there are 2 less caches in the area for people to find instead of one.
  17. I have a Legend only a few months old with cig light adapter, holder, pc cable-$250 also fairly close to you (200mi)

  19. I imagine that since you placed it on a weekend that whomever is responsible for approving the caches is out hunting theirselves. I would advise give it a day or two and it will show up.
