  2. I have an older laptop. i picked up for 100 bucks. It works great for me.I use ozi-explorer and ttqv maps.If i dropped a new dell on the ground do you think they would fix it for free?thats why i bought an old one...not many resources but i only have a few small programs and all my maps are on cd.Anyone use that gsak program...is it like expert gps?
  3. I was wondering why there are very few canucks in the chat room?Is there another place ppl go?Maybe there just arent enough of us? If anyone would like to trade topo,s on cd let me know..i have ttqv maps of ontario from thunder bay down to parry sound...send me an e-mail if interested

  7. Im using ozi-explorer for my mapping and have touratech digital maps.I used waypoints from my gps to calibrate the map.when i imported my wp's and tracks, they were inaccurate and shifted to one side....I only used three points to calibrate the map...The maps are all in nad27canada....my gps is always wgs84...do i need them both to be the same datum or do i need more calibration points?...perhaps both and more?Or maybe this is very common and thats as close as its gonna get?lol...please share some info if you are good with this sort of thing....thx.....Happy New Year to everyone ....I almost forgot.....ive been trying to find a chat room to help get answers quicker and have some good conversation....can you guys give me some links to find one.....thx...Romeo
  8. I think the biggest and most important is to verify what datum is being used, for what you are using it for.If you have a map and want to compare co-ords or even calibrate it...Always use the same units as the map. Of course geocaching is hard to mess up because its all the same.wgs84.just be sure not to leave your gps in one datum then try caching with a different datum......its very easy to have inaccuracies t o begin with so make sure the pilot can at least put down the landing gear.
  9. just wanted to know if ne1 has had this problem. If so did u send it to garmin or???I hear they will most likely fix it for free May the angels fly with us down the beaten path!
  10. Ive used many programs and i find ozi and touratech are the best.Although touratech is expensive you dont have to scan or calibrate maps....u buy them.It also has the capability to use maps from other programs....it can also replay tracks that u made showing speed and distance.as the arrow moves u can adjust the speed......very cool....i got ozi for free through a friend. When i have money im definately buying touratech...less hassle if you are a person limited to play time May the angels fly with us down the beaten path!
  11. Right on. Thanx guys! Ill see ya there.guess i have to dwnld mirc aagain. May the angels fly with us down the beaten path!
  12. I can almost garantee we will have cell gps combos on the market by fall of 2003.Its inevitable.Imagine a satelite phone,GPS capable, internet palm pilot with a touch screen,2way radio like a rino, hell lets throw in a music radio with an mp3 player.yeah baby!!To bad it would cost5000 bucks. If they could make it affordable, like 1000 bucks it would be the gadget of the mellenium.there garmin millenium or magellin, lowrance.maybe a couple of huge companys could put there heads together and blow peoples minds! Its the same with home electromics.you could have a big screen thats a computer, stereo,TV,dvd, vcr. If its built like a computer you could upgrade or trade in any component for a better one. Some people are anti-combo mind you.I would buy one if it were upgradable May the angels fly with us down the beaten path!
  13. Just wondering if there is a chat room for geocachers on the net somewhere. If not shouldnt we have one?The polls are great but a live chat would be so much faster to interact with each other and get answers to troubling questions. Is this a good idea?Maybe theres one on this site and im just blind! May the angels fly with us down the beaten path!
  14. I looked on kazaa for ttqv software, but wasnt successfull. x-mas is comin.maybe ill get the legit version of ontario May the angels fly with us down the beaten path!
