  1. Ok lets see if this question can be put another way..... I am in a wheelchair so how do I get ONLY THOSE CACHES that allow wheelchair access ? Its no good having to sort them out from 100's of ordinary ones that come up when you put in a postcode. Thats not what I want. I need ONLY THOSE CACHES that are wheelchair accessible. How do I do that ? (By the way I am asking this question on behalf of another geocacher, I am fully mobile)
  2. Hi Fiona, you havent been at the bottle again have you, I know its Christmas time and all that but.......... ps My icons are fine.
  3. But they did not realise their equipment was faulty until the reached the outskirts of Manchester. BBC News I respect Ambulance crews, they do a magnificent job. But I hope I dont rely on this crew to take me to Hospital in an emergency, or any of my family. What a disgraceful episode. I assume they have enough brains to realise after the first 10 miles that they havent reached their destination. I am talking about the driver not the chaps in the back of the Ambulance. Can the driver not read road signs ? Amazing stupidity ! He will be sacked of course...wont he ? Hmmmmmmmm
  4. Another person admitting VAT and import duty fraud in public, when they have no idea who is reading the forum. If you have paid for it, it isn't a gift! This isn't the first time this has happened on the forum either, despite the fact that you really don't know if anyone who works for HM Revenue and Customs is a geocacher. T It is not fraud , it is simply ticking a box to accept a gift, a gift can be paid for or not, just because its paid for does not mean its not a gift. Have you never accepted a gift from someone and given one in return. Is that not paying for a gift by return. So if i give you a gift of £20 and you give me a gift of a Garmin, what does that make it ? Sorry but you are just running scared of Big Brother.
  5. Something to bear in mind though, is that anything with a value over £18 entering the country from outside the EU is subject to VAT on the full amount. Then the post office make an admin charge as well to cover their costs of paying the tax and reclaimng it from you. But NOT if you get them to tick the 'GIFT' box (top right hand corner) of the customs sticker. I do this all the time. And so do the Stateside chaps that send things to me. Except one Canadian who didnt, and I had to pay the duty. All you have to do is ask them to tick the 'Gift' box before they post it. If they wont, then buy from another source. There is plenty out there.
  6. Hi, I bought a Garmin Etrex Legend from the States and it was easy to put the MapSource 1, 2 & 3 in to it. If you need Map Source 1, 2, & 3 then I have a spare set. Email me and we can sort something out.
  7. Yeah, I mean, just how dangerous CAN a blanket be? Thanks Rutson, Just what I needed a good laugh.............................brilliant !
  8. This is where commonsense kicks in........................
  9. If I understand it correctly, No knives or inflammables or food should be placed in caches. If I were to find one I would remove it and find out who owns it and send it back to them. Explaining the reasons for the return. Unfortunately we live in an age where the lawsuits are prevalent, God forbid that a child got hold of one of these knives and injured themselves, or used the matches and got burned, or to start a fire which could lead to the death of animals, woodland, people But then we come up against the fact that Parents should be looking after their children when going caching. How many children go caching on their own ? There are so many possibilities, so I say 'prevention is better than the cure'. Its just commonsense.
  10. Thank you all for your help, I am now able to use Autoroute for Geocaching. Just a simple multiplication and Hey Presto all is revealed. The other half of Red Squadron (Ann) will be pleased.
  11. Hi All, I wonder if someone could tell me how I convert the Decimal output that I get when I go to Autoroute, into the WGS84 format that is used by my Garmin. I have been to numerous conversion sites on the web but my inputs dont relate to the outputs. I am clearly doing something wrong. But what? This is what I do.......................... I input N52 34 414 and then E 000 33 985 I use the format 52 34 41.4 and I get 52.681667 00 33 98.5 and I get 0.823611 This puts my cache about 14 miles away from its location. I would like to use Autoroute for mapping purposes, so is there an easy conversion ?
  12. Well I already built mine.............but its sunk !!!!!!!
  13. All is ok now, I have just made a REPLY to the original post and it went through ok. Thanks for your concerns. It must have been a glitch on my part because i also had a problem with receiving my Emails, that is also cleared up now.
  14. I left a reply to your query in a new posting because I had a glitch that would not let me post here. It seems that all is ok now.
  15. Nope, I was logged in, I checked that option.
  16. I was just wondering why it is that I am not able to reply to a question set by a Premium member (The Birders). They asked whether or not to allow certain items of an inflammable nature into a cache. I clicked on the REPLY button but it wouldnt allow me to post. Is it simply that I am not a premium member and they are ? Anyway in reply to their question, I think that it is wrong to put lighters (unless empty) or any other combustable items into caches. There has to be a line drawn somewhere or it will get uncontrollable. Caches can get inordinately HOT laying under bushes and logs and we all know what can happen to a heated coke can or bottle of drink.......it can explode. Imagine what would happen if a lighter full of lighter fuel was to heat up inside a plastic container, just as YOU or one of your family were to pick it up. So come on folks, lets have a little more commonsense about what we put in the containers. 99.9% of us are being sensible about this, its just the other .1% that needs educating.
  17. <They've got over 20 caches and frankly they're all rubbish> Forgot to mention this in my last post...........Take note One mans rubbish is another mans treasure
  18. I think in future you should choose your words more carefully. It would have been just as good to have put in the question "Can I put a number of caches into an ignore list ? " You dont need to identify who or what, it just isnt needed. This way it wont upset a cacher thats gone to a lot of time and trouble setting out his caches. I, along with some others no doubt wont do certain caches because of whatever reasons. But there is no need for me to air my views about them specifically on this forum. Just my 2p worth !!!!
  19. I have a glass of shandy on Sunday with my lunch, and thats all.
  20. You can have a look at this web page. Its probably has all the answers you need. Just click on the following link. http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/Pub0009...ticle.asp?ID=41
  21. We dont know Billy Twigger but our thoughts are with him. Hope he pulls through and returns to good health.
  22. Because you have 1 or more questions, I believe it falls into the Multi category.
  23. I fully endorse the actions taken to foil the antics of Spammers and others. A few more seconds taken on the emails to ensure it is secure is a small price to pay. Believe me, in a short while we will all be glad its in place. I just wish that eBay had this in place when i had my account stolen, along with over 882 positive feedbacks which I have now lost. It took me four years to get that feedback. So please dont complain because it takes a few more seconds to email or whatever.
  24. Backtrack ? Looks like I will have to read the manual again. Mine is a Garmin Etrex Legend, has it got backtrack ?
