  1. ok, that works. So it seems that my hoster is not allowing me to use their URL to post pics. Thats the only explanation I have. I will have a look at using Photobucket and see if i have any better luck.
  2. All I have done is to copy your URL just to see if I can upload a pic.
  3. That might be right. I've put it in my phtobucket for now, just to show it. Thanks for showing my Spitfire pic, I will persevere with another upload. I should get it right by 2012
  4. You can't upload a photo directly from your home PC, you need to host the picture somewhere else. For example photobucket. There are many others. Create your account, then upload your photo's from your home machine. On the host account you can then copy the image link. Then, on GC.com when replying to a post click on the "insert image" icon (looks like a tree), and follow the steps. Sorry if that sounded a bit simpleton. Regards. Paul Hi Paul, you seem to know what you are talking about so can you explain why my picture wont upload. This is my URL.......... http://fire.prohosting.com/johnziss/jo/fluffside2.jpg When i click on the upload image icon it says that my URL is wrong. Any idea what I am doing wrong ?
  5. Nice idea, but this Groundspeak wont accept my URL of my Spitfire MkII
  6. But what happens if you end up at the cache point and someone's sitting on the cache writing in the log book. Ignore/carry on, and come back. Or strike up a conversation and sit waiting. I actually can't imagine it being a problem, but maybe I should carry a "I'm not a muggle" flag just in case. Excellent hobby, glad I found it. Do what I did, just say "are you caching ?" A look of relief comes on their faces when they realise you know what they are doing, as only another cacher will know. Its not a big deal old chap........
  7. I use a Garmin Etrex Legend and it works well in most conditions although under tree cover it is not so good.
  8. I dont think they will ever change the 'MILE HIGH CLUB' to metric.........
  9. Compared to some cachers we are standing still......we have only found 43 since last february. But then, we only seek a cache when we feel like it. Which isnt often. We like it that way.
  10. OMG !!!!!!!! You mean Caching is not real ? (Quick nurse, the screens)
  11. Well I suppose its probably because the owners havent had the time to check it out. Remember its the school holidays and some are away or just too busy. These are just excusesthough, and the proper thing to do is to check periodically. Any sensible owner would check their cache if it was placed anywhere near a river or stream. But of course, there are exceptions to every rule.
  12. As for us, we are on the starting blocks, I can hear the 'On your marks, get ready, but no 'Go' The cache container is all ready, we have a spot marked out, so I say lets get this Big Quest rolling. Tell me Bambography, is there much more to sort out before the off ?
  13. OK, I'm going to bite the bullet and send a letter to the local council.........fingers crossed. I dont suppose there is already a Geocacher that works in the Council Offices that you could approach first ?
  14. Well, on the other hand, one could say the Premium Members are subsidising your caching if you reread it! Ok, Educate me.....As one who does no more than 1 cache per month, then I am at a disadvantage when it comes to the intricacies (sp) of Geocaching.. If the Premium Membership is removed, what do you have left ? In my opinion, what you have left is what the majority of us Geocachers have, (which in your opinion, are the bare bones,) in my opinion a great deal of information available without being a Premium Member. So where does the bit about you are subsidising me come into it.? If anything I would say that without the vast majority of non members then you would not have that many Geocachers to meet or organise events etc etc. I am quite willing to be educated in all this so any constructive criticism is welcomed. But I still stick by what I say unless proven to be wrong.
  15. Sorry, couldn't resist. I agreee with you. Well I dont agree.....I certainly dont agree with our freedom of searching for caches being jeopordised by the minority of Premium Members like yourselves. Sure I agree that if we are to use ALL the priviliges afforded to Premium Members that we should pay....but we dont use them so we need not pay. Let me put it another way, would you like it if you had to pay the same road tax as a truck (in excess of £1000 pounds per year) after all, you use the same roads as that truck. I think you would soon find some way of avoiding that tax. So please......dont tar everyone with the same brush.
  16. I use a Garmin Etrex Legend and all I do is to click on the send icon on the waypoints page and it sends the data to my Legend. I use just the one cable from PC to GPS. Regards.....John
  17. And finally the largest country in the world Russia has just 44 caches. Theres probably more than that in Wigan or Chorley! Not surprised really, about Russia. I dont think I would want to be furtively hiding a plastic type box in a hole in a tree. Or even pointing a gps thingy at the sky whilst muttering strange incantations. Can you imagine what would be the reaction to someone looking left and right whilst poking around under a seat right in the middle of Red Square. Hmmmmmmmm.
  18. I have a Tom Tom 510 and I would also like to know how to do it. Someone was supposed to tell me how to do it, but I have lost the contact. I will be watching this thread with interest.
  19. Well, as long as the cache co-ords are listed somewhere in the listing then I dont see any problems with it. BUT it would be better for all concerned if the co-ords for a traditional cache were in the same format for all listings. I can see Haggis Hunters point on this, and in my opinion he has a valid concern.
  20. We got one in our garden, and it has brought some very interesting people in for coffee and a chat, and some Americans too.
