Groundspeak took a decision a few years ago, that provided a User Name is not offensive in any sort of way, nor is a attack aimed at anyone. They would generally allow most user names, even if it was the name of a business. As your aware, Groundspeak decided that the name is close enough to being offensive, that the name was deemed inappropriate, and the example your referring to, was the initials of the first 2 words and "UK", not the full name you have posted. Deci   -

At the risk of being boring, controversial and off topic I can't help wondering we are not allowed to mention pub names in cache titles (too commercial) whilst this cacher can advertise his business (and I checked there is a business with this name in the cacher's area of SWales) with every cache he finds or logs?? :( -

My own cache MicroMonsal was active from 2002-2004. This is the view from the cache.

No longer quite as good as it was, someone has stuck a Church Micro onto the bottom of Phecda :-( Oh well it was only a matter of time and they have been there since 2004 ....and I well remember the care with which you planned and set the series!! I also remember a great week's holiday on the Llangollen Canal that culminated in this series - we winded just north of it - and a great event at a pub in the village. (Which I have tried to locate both in my cache history and another cache history and can't - so if anyone remembers it............ sometime in August 2006 I feel.

The Plough series by aARKS on the Llangollen Canal near Wrenbury. Only a short series, 7+bonus, but designed to be a more or less accurate picture of the eponymous constellation.

From the first post in the original thread: Posted 19 May 2006 - 07:32 PM Welcome to the Groundspeak Arms, come in, take your coat off - put your feet up! I'm going to ask a question, whoever answers correctly can post the next question and so on... Rule 1 - No googling! Rule 2 - Try and keep your question at the level someone in a pub quiz might be able to answer... Hmmmmmm! -
I feel if it were a hamlet there would be no church!

For me, John, the sad thing is that such subterfuge may be necessary. In its "infancy" I believe GS was happy for virts to exist - especially in areas where land managers refused cache permission, such as National Parks in the US. It was a way the sport would be spread - and therefore become more commercially viable. Then there appeared to be concern about the quality of virts at every street corner and reviewers were told to apply the "Wow" factor - quite unquantifiable. (And it is a pity they are not required to apply it to pooh bin nanos etc.) This, married to the advent of Waymarking tolled the death knell for the virt. The worst thing for me is that a greandfathered in virt of such age and popularity, taking people to a quiet (?) square in East London with a very significant history, can not have its future assured because of the no adoption policy. Shame on Groundspeak.
