  1. They are very nice, great camo job done on them.
  2. Thanks for the replies and advice everyone and the resource link Graculus.
  3. If I were to buy a 't' version, say a Garmin Oregon 550t, are the maps included the discoverer maps or are they inferior? Would I be better off buying a standard version and getting the talkie toaster maps seperately? Also is it worth paying the extra and getting the version with a camera (500 or 550) or is the camera just a gimmick and better off using the iphone. Just want to make sure I purchase the right version. Thanks
  4. My point exactly, why can't we have a separate regions for Northern Ireland and Repiblic of Ireland. If going to Europe would I search by seperate regions/ countries or Europe as a whole? How can defining what country I was born in be political, it's your heritage you are not born with political views.
  5. Nationality is about what country you were born in and politics or political parties play no part in it. Groundspeak have chosen to delete the country of my birth from the geocaching world.
  6. That is your opinion which you are entitled to but it is an issue for other people. I am not talking politics I don't even vote for me it's about nationality.
  7. I'm from Scotland, and I don't appreciate one bit having the Union Flag shown next to my finds. But I don't waste time bleating about it on here, because politics has nothing to do with geocaching. Well you found time to come bleat anyway didn't you. Politics would soon be in it if they put an England flag next to your finds. It would be a different story then.
  8. Hi, So far I have been using my iphone for caching and whilst this has done the job, there have been times when it struggled for a decent signal and has been a bit bouncy. I am also now creating caches so I require something more accurate and reliable. I have been doing some research and quite like the Montana 650 and Oregon 550 for their paperless abilities. My question is if I buy either of these would I still need to buy the Garmin Northern Ireland Discoverer maps or would the maps that come with either be good enough? Thanks Gary
  9. I have to agree with Amberel on this one by putting an Ireland flag on caches found in Northern Ireland you are playing with politics and changing peoples sovereignty. This will always be a big issue for those people in Northern Ireland who considered themselve part of the UK, even more so now with the 'flag' issue recently in Belfast. I am pretty sure members from Scotland or Wales would no appreciate having the England flag next to their finds on home soil. Why not make Northern Ireland a seperated entity and use the Northern Ireland flag (not UK) for any finds found there?
  10. Did you ask the JCB driver if he signed the log book
  11. I went up the hill last night and retrieved my caches. I then went quite a bit further up the hill, search for good quiet spots to place the caches where the puzzles could be solved without muggle attention. Re-submitted my cache today and just got a reply stating one of the stages is still 450 feet away from an unknown cache...ahhhhh. The point of me placing the caches was to give something back to the caching community but I am considering just pulling them. If I don't know where the unknown cache is, how many trips up the hill do I need to make before I am out of range.
  12. Looks like it's another couple of trips up the Hill for me. One to recover the caches I have placed and to try and find new locations higher up the hill. Then email these to the reviewer, hoping they are far enough away from the unknown cache. Then up the hill again to place them. At least it is a lesson learnt, I will get the co-ords and check with reviewer before placing the physical caches and adding the stage co-ords into any of the puzzles.
  13. Not in NH Tall John but that Snoopy series looks great. Pretty new to Geocaching and have been trying to solve the local puzzle caches for a while now but with no luck as yet. Feeling a bit stupid at lack of success lol. Think will be a while before I list any more caches but will email reviewer with co-ords before I do so as it is a bit frustrating putting all that work in, then having to start again.
  14. Hi, I recently listed a multi cache for review. I spent a lot of time checking for the right locations to place them especially as the first cache has a puzzle that could take a bit of time so needs to be out of muggle view. The co-ordinates of the second stage are built into the puzzle at stage 1 and I made sure I was not near any other caches before submitting the cache for review. It has now come back saying I am too close to an unknown cache and I have to move my caches. This means I now need to find new locations and then change the puzzle at stage one so it picks up the new co-ordinates at stage two. The problem is these new locations could still be too close to unknown caches in the area and I would need to start all over again. Does this mean I need to solve all unknown caches in the area before listing any further caches to be sure I don't have to start all over again?
  15. Thanks for the replys. The caches will be in a line from the car park so will have to be passed on the way down the hill again. I will take the advice and leave more than one 'tool' in each cache just incase more than one person doing it at a time. There will be less than a mile from start to finish and each stage will contain a number as well as a tool, these numbers will be the code for the lock on the final cache. Suppose it will be a bit of trial and error and the logs will let me know what I am doing right/wrong but it is the type of cache I would enjoy doing so hopefully others will
  16. Hi, I am pretty new to the hobby but think I am experienced enough to start giving back and place some of my own caches. I have the plans for a multi and already found the sites to put each stage plus ideas to mix it up but I am unsure of the correct multi cache etiquette. What I would like to do is have an item at each stage that is required to progress the next stage. My question is; is it reasonable to have a multi like this that requires the cacher to retrace their steps and replace items after completing the cache? I don't want to annoy anyone but also want to make each stage as interesting as I can and something different for any cacher, who attempt it. Opinions and advice appreciated. Gary
  17. Was it Rick Ashley 'Never Gonna Give You Up'...? Remember it was huge back in the day, not sure if before or after Kylie though.
  18. Hi Roy, Thanks for the info about the event. You can count me and my two mini cachers in. Will be good to pick up some tips from more experienced people and am sure kids will enjoy it. Gary
  19. I am new to geocaching and a couple of the caches I have found have not contained a pen/pencil. I am still marking them as found even though I cannot sign the log book but I do add items to the cache. Learnt the lesson that in future always bring a pen with me and a couple of spares to replace in those cache's missing them.
  20. Thanks Slowdownracer, this link worked for me:- www.oakcodes.com/unnum.html Activated and ready to travel
  21. I just tried this link (Try here: http://www.geocachin...deRetrieve.aspx) and it doesn't work, just brings up this message:- The manufacturer of this Trackable has requested that activation codes be retrieved from their web site. Please click here to retrieve activation code. Then when you click the link, webpage doesn't load. Also tried the oakcoins/activate with three different browsers on two seperate laptops and an iphone. None of them loaded the activate link for me. Confused
  22. Hi, I have been trying all day to activate a Welsh Flag my daughter picked but getting the same problem with the Oakcoins website. Will be watching this thread with interest. The item could be getting returned.
  23. Hmmm pretty sure I didn't wake in up Ireland this morning unless my bed moved 50 miles South during the night lol. Thanks for the reply, at least I know how to get the premium membership now Regards Gary
  24. Hi, First of all would just like to introduce myself. I am Gary from Belfast and very new to geocaching. Just started with my 2 kids and they love it also. I have a query and I hope someone can steer me in the right direction. I am trying to upgrade to premium membership but when I look for Northern Ireland in the drop down state/province box it is not there. It has plenty of options for England/Scotland and Wales but I am unable to complete the purchase as where I live doesn't seem to exist Has anyone else come across this? Regards Gary
