  1. Just guessing here (we use another brand of GPSr).... Possibly the "Send to GPS" function will not interact with the GPX file already loaded, each being a single and separate download. I understand that with Garmin units, deletion is done either as ALL or NONE regarding the GPX file. Adding something to that existing GPX file (to me) runs counter to the "all or none" concept. Solution? Set up an a weekly auto-run PQ for your home area, or multiples if you reside in a cache-dense area. It's not a cure for adding a single cache, but that cache (new data) would be included. We do have older Garmins for back-up but with those units, deleting/adding singles is easy. I'm beginning to come to that conclusion ("send to GPS" will not update an older pocket query) which does make sense. I'll do a new PQ. Thanks Gitchee Gummee!
  2. I just wanted to update the single cache quickly and was wondering if anyone knew how to do it. The GC number is: GC1XDFK.
  3. If the owner posted new coordinates by using the "Update Coordinates" log, the new coordinates should be visible at the top of the page, replacing the old coordinates. I would think that "send to gps" should give you the new coordinates. What's the GC number? B. The GC number is: GC1XDFK. From what I can tell the coords are updated in the listing. I saw that someone else (timpat) has run into this situation as well. It just seems like the original entry can't be updated. Sorry to everyone about the multiple replies. I'm just figuring the message process out.
  4. There is a local cache which I tried to find, but it had been muggled. The cache owner moved the cache, posted new coords and changed the hint. When I "send to my GPS" again, I can only see the old coords, old hint and old logs. I am pretty sure I originally downloaded this cache onto my GPS with via a pocket query. Is there anyway I can get the updated coords and new logs onto my GPS?
  5. You're right! That has been the plan all along. I guess in all the excitement I must have missed that. By "that", of course, I mean the second sentence in the opening post. Gotta learn to pay attention. Looks like 77 miles to the cache location. Plus another 52 more miles from the cache to Fort Albany.
  6. If GZ is so remote that maintenance visits can only be done every 10 years, then I think the cache should be more substantial than a former food container.... And good luck, cachers, everyone will be watching your progress! Food smell can get on other things beside former food containers. Even if you got an ammo can, the smell can get on it via the tip of your fingers. Okay, valid points - unfortunately the next visitor will probably have food smell on their hands and "taint" a cache. Do you recommend any repellent to keep animals away (without making the cache reek!)? Using Google Earth I estimated the total distance on the water to be approx. 203 miles (327km). As of 4:18pm EST on 6/5 they had gone 110 miles and had 93 miles to go.
  7. According to Google Earth they have about 125 miles to go.
  8. thanks Sol seaker! It looks like that did the trick.
  9. I recently switched from a free membership to a premium membership and I had entered already numerous caches into my Garmin Etrex 20 under the free membership. When I view a cache description or hint it still says that I need to upgrade to a premium membership to see the information. Does anyone know how to get the GPS to switch to the premium level? Thanks for any help!
