I received my new unit today firmware 2.50 same as previous unit and satellite reception is fine. When I lose signal it is regained automatically no problem. My unit was defective. The problem was not a firmware issue.

Is this problem present on all units or only some?

I'm having the same problem. I RMAed it back to the place where I bought it thinking it was defective. If the new unit I receive has the same problem, boy will I be pissed! I called garmin but they did not mention that this is a known issue. They simply said to return it to where I got it...
