  1. As far as I am conserned this clown should be blocked from the dang site! He is the type that ruins things for all of us and it sure seems that he is a bit arrogant. This guys name should be given and he should be avoided. That is just my opinion. I have nothing but contempt for this clown. I feel for you
  2. Actually, does it matter? I am a newbie and feel every trip out is an adventure. I have a lot of interests and this is only one of them and I am finding it a great way to get out is the open spaces. One of the best things I am getting from it is seeing new trails I have missed in the past. I hunted for a cache Sunday but did not find it but I did find a Porcupine dened up under a stump and we had a small chat. I left him as I found him. I found a marsh that is marked a Loon nesting area, of which there are few in Michigan. In doing so I found two marshes I can kayak and take some pictures in the spring. I have found small parks in my area that I did not know exsisted. I have found something to do when I have been normally suffering from Cabin fever. Now I can get out of the cabin. I can get out in nature and relax. I prefer doing things alone and can not imagine going on organized hunts. I refuse to compete in anything as it takes the fun away for me. Who cares who is best? I don't. I am not in it to be best. I am in it to relax. Another of my hobbies is Metal Detecting. Sat while Caching I found an old Ghost Town that I never new exsisted. Now I have another potential detecting site. No there is no shame in being a newbie, I have been one all my life and am proud of the fact that I enjoy so many hobbies. When it gets hot and the trees get their leaves and the bugs get hungry, I will be diving or metal detecting or kayaking but come fall, I will be caching. It is a wonderful new hobbie I am enjoying.
  3. I want to thank everyone for the quick help. I had seen it before but was having a brainout. I am entitled as I am old! Thanks again
  4. Where is the link to download the Google Earth addition. I can not seem to find it. Is it in a Cache somewhere? Royal
  5. I have a new Palm TX. I have Cachmate and understand that it is very easy to go to Geocaching and download a gpx file and put it on my palm and all kinds of magic happens and the information is on my Palm,. Ain't happening. I have Cachemate on my Palm and am now stuck. I have downloaded a gpx file and yelled at my computer and all the other things that make computers do what you want but still it sets on my desktop. I have entered the information to the Palm manually but I would really like to know how to do it the magic way. Do I have to download another little program to make the magic happen. I could sure use a little help Royal
  6. I am very new to Geocaching too. I started a couple weeks ago and have found every one I hunted for, about 16 I guess, except one. I have found that with my gps, garmin GPS lll, I can get pretty close but not right on top of it. I walk it in slowly and then just put it in my pocket. Then I stand in one place and ask myself, "Where would I hid it?" Then I look for something that does not look right, bark along a tree trunk or just something that draws the eye. Sometimes my GPS has me fifteen or twenty feet away and it is not always my GPS that is off. I think it also is the GPS that the person hiding the cache that might be different and also if the person hiding the cashe lets the GPS settle down before marking it. I don't expect the gps to find it for me but use it to get me in the area and then the fun begins. Take time to learn your unit too. It will come to you and it is a ball. I don't know how much I will do in the summer as I have lots of summer interests but it sure is the thing in the winter on nice days. Good luck
  7. and I love it. I have only failed to find one that I hunted for. I bought a Palm TX PDA and hope to use it in this hobby. I have figured out that I can save Geocache pages and this saves me printing but is there any other PDA software out there that you folks can recommend that would be handy for me to purchase? Any handy map program? I have been using a computer for 12 years and been on line all that time but this is my first PDA and I don't know what is available out there. Thanks- Royal
