  1. Currently, we are showing the most recent 20 logs. If you are finding 12 caches per day then you correctly would only see about 2 days worth when we display 20 logs. However, if we display the last 30 days then you could have 300+ logs. That makes for a much larger request to the servers which results in a slower response and takes longer to load the data. Several people have mentioned wanting to see their recent logs for the last 30 days. Assuming you are looking at only your own logs, can someone help me to understand what you are trying to achieve? How often are you scrolling through all of those logs? What are you trying to find? (i.e. updating logs, remembering recent adventures, checking your work - didn't forget anything?) Do you prefer all of the data in a very long (slowly loaded) list or a shorter list that allows paging or requesting more data as needed? I personally am using exactly these logs as the MAIN purpose of my dashboard. I'm keeping track of my finds and trackables (that I addionally save in an EXCEL spreadsheet with all the info incl. TB code, where found, where left and such) and I also want to check for other logs on my visited caches. I for instance just logged a few DNFs as well as NMs and it's very convenient to simply go to the dashboard and keep an eye onto these caches then. Same with tours together with friends. Sometimes I like to see these logs as I'm interested in there view of what happened. And that's way different from seeing ALL the friends' logs How often? Several times a day. And I never ever experienced any delays while loading, at least not in the last years! What I prefer? Pretty much exactly what we had in the old view. I wouldn't mind getting the GC code in addition! For planning tours I'm only using the code and it's easier that way to find the done ones later and remove them from my planning sheet. Tiny font, no "unneeded" extra icons, links to both cache and log. Other reasons for ME to use the dashboard: Access my profile via the Stat Bar (and I'm talking about the old profile with my PERSONAL statistics done by GSAK/FSG. Access my Lists (and guess what, I also like THAT old version more than the new one. No need to extra click some icons to get access to all possible actions and you can't even create a new list from there Only positive new feature is showing the number of found caches within a list. Access MY geocaches or MY trackables Superrare: "Find another player" Never: Recently viewed caches, Search options, Premium features, Lists and User routes (via right side menu), Drafts (never ever use them!)
  2. I know this is a view that will divide opinion, but I disagree. You have a huge profile page, with loads of badges/souvenirs/images from the GSAK stats generator - all of which take time to load and eat up bandwidth. If I want to look at your profile I'm usually doing it for a specific purpose and it's unlikely anyone is going there to look at your GSAK achievements page so I would prefer it to be under the "About" tab where I won't have to wait for it to load unless I'm specifically interested in seeing it. My own profile page has a bit of info on it, which I'm sure nobody is really interested in so it's fine by me if that's stuck away on the About tab. I would simply suggest to make that user configurable. Means that _I_ can chose what _I_ want to see as default profile tab. This would give everyone the choice and everyone would be happy then!
  3. The current iteration of the dashboard does not add much in terms of additional functionality. However, the goal of this current version was to create a base that new features could be added to. We are working on plans for additional features that will bring a lot of additional value to the page. We are continuing to evaluate the styling based on feedback from users. While some people are not in love with the new design there are a lot of people who we have heard from that really like it (and this includes existing geocachers). Recently Viewed: We are looking into options for allowing certain sections, like Recently Viewed, to be collapsible. Recent Logs: As I mentioned earlier, we will be updating this feed to toggle only your logs. Dashboard: I don't miss anything on the old dashboard, I only miss things on every single new page you came up with in the last time ;-) That's why I'm still using the old pages. I'm trying the new ones once a day but up to now they are still unusable for MY needs! But at least I'm still trying Today I haven't seen a single of MY finds in the recent logs area even if I've found 12 caches yesterday. So I'm urgently waiting for the moment I can finally turn off the other logs. But I fear I then still best case can see the logs of the last 2 days vs. the 30 in the old version. Please allows us to able to get the same options for the recents as we have with the old version. Would be more than appreciated! Style again: I guess the feedback is that different as people use different devices. On a computer with a big screen the new pages are simply still wasting sooo much space, but on a tablet or mobiel it might work better. So I would still suggest different styles for desktop and mobile pages! More comments will follow after the next changes
  4. If this would just stick forever... Ok, seriously now: I still don't see a single part within the new dashboard that would work better for me up to now. I only see less info in addition with simply more that I'm not interested in at all. Sorry to say that. I also don't care at all about a specfic mobile view as I always prefer the standard desktop view and always set desktop view within my browser on the mobile phones and tablets. Just hate this waste of space and kiddie-ish bonbon style. Might be I'm just too old that for. But I prefer information vs. "style" Now to some further comments to the new dashboard: My statistics are shown within my personal profile, that's why I'm using GSAK/FindStatGen and I know many people using this or similar stuff. So I wouldn't use the Statistics link to the left at all. Roughly the same with Souvenirs. Even if I collected quite some of them they aren't important for me so the placement is way too prominent for my personal like. Recently Viewed: Still way too prominent. As I recently viewed the recently viewed caches I'm most of the time no longer interested in these and they just waste space. I would prefer an option to complete disable this part. Recent Logs: Not interest at all in seeing the logs from my friends. The old style simply was close to be perfect for me. The only "issue" I had with the old style was the order of the logs. Not all of them really have been shown in the order of entering them (I think Discover and NM/NA-Logs seemed to be in a special order). But everything there was way better than the actual view with just 2 days. Now I need to check for these logs in 2 different places: Geocaches->Logs and Trackables->Trackables Log. I simply would like to stay with the old style! What also is missing in the new list is the link to the cache itself. Now I need to click for the log and then click the cache. Why not 2 links? Cachename linked to the cache and "Found/Didn't Find/etc" linked to the log? Consistency: At Recently Viewed you show D/T/S and at Recent Logs you don't.
  5. When looking at your Profile, the only Bookmark Lists shown in the Lists tab are the ones you've chosen to be "public". That is what other cachers will be able to see when your profile is viewed. To see all of your lists, whether private/shared/public, then you need to go to the Lists section on the Dashboard - or go directly to your lists page. Thanks that for. Just wondered a bit as I never ever used that tab and thought it might be an issue I think that having the dashboard and profile pages more mobile-friendly will help address the app users that want more functionality. For example, app users have clamored for souvenirs and statistics (among other functionaliy) in the app. They can now be pointed to a mobile-friendly webpage. We can't you have 2 completely different sets of pages like many other sites have? I don't care at all what a mobile user wants to see (or HOW they want to see it. I way more care about how it looks and feels on a standard wide screen display. And the new look THERE simply is weird, space wasting and there are still some old features/infos missing. Interesting. Can't say that ever occurred for me. (Perhaps it would on my cell phone app (?), but I never visit other people's profiles while using the cell app, only when I'm on my pc browser at home, right next to the wifi modem). Yep, I've also encountered issues with other cachers' custom content delaying the page load. It could take quite a while before I could click on something else on their profile, and usually that 'something else' was the 'Geocaches' tab. I would simply prefer to be able to chose what I would like to see as the default tab. If I watch a profile I mainly don't care about the Geocaches tab, but the old profile tab. And I know that it takes ages from time to time, but as this exactly is what I'm looking for AND expecting I don't care at all. I have time, I'm not on the run
  6. There still are people - including me - who don't care about being stalked but don't have a use for stalking others (i.e. being flooded with their logs). But if there will be filtering in future, this really wouldn't be a problem anymore. You're missing a way more important issue! It's not about MY logs to be seen by others... It's about OTHER logs that I'm now required to see INSTEAD of my log! The actual new dashboard shows me a huge block with recent views of what I don't need or care at all. And it just shows 3 recent logs, no more space for more on the first screen (and it's a big screen, for others it might be even worse!). I so often use the option to see MY logs from the last 30 days and now I can only see logs from the last 2 days? Are you serious, Groundspeak? And even with the latest changes, waste of space is still so f***ing bad. I'm not that blind yet and I still like the old style way more than this "fancy" new one.
  7. What still would be missed by me are some more details at recent logs like GC code, date and the trackable logs. And the option to chose specific logs is completely gone
  8. Yep! You are understanding it correctly. We are not removing anyone's custom content, just changing the location. So at least please make that the default page IF it contains specific content! As you were able to find out how many are using that area you should be able to use that info while rendering the page, too. Email: I would also like to still have it in the future! Bye, Christian
  9. Hi! I don't really find anything on the new dashboard of profile that works BETTER now to be honest. Dashboard: Top menu missing with "Lists" and all the other quick links. Now I need to scroll down even on my large 1920*1200 display. Hello "cacher" part: This now has less info than before using WAY more space on the screen with a huge and completely unneeded gray tile on top of the avatar. And instead of the "View profile" button I'd simply like to get back the stats bar. It was showing some quick info! Different menu items on the left, all grey on white and the single topics too close in style to the menu items itself. Trackable inventory is missing, just exists as a further link! Recently viewed way too prominent, way too big, way too many. And waste of space anyways. Once cache now needs double the space than before. I can't suit 30" display on my desk And I don't need to see these caches. I didn't mind having them on the old dashboard as they didn't need too much space but now!? Recent logs: I'm not a stalker so I don't want to see these friend logs at all. They don't help me especially as quite some of my geocaching friends live so far away from me that I hardly ever will visit one of these caches. I only want to see MY logs and with at least all the info that has been on the old dashboard. I would even add more info and not remove some. I would like to directly see the GC code, too And I still also want to see the trackable logs as this was what I was using most on the dashboard. In total there's not a single reason why I would prefer the new version as the old one works way better for me! Profile: The new profile is wasting so much space for nothing! My wide screen will just be used for about 40% of its width. The remains is either white or contains adds (Ok, understand, that these will pay the site, too). The interesting info is been showed in the lower 40% of my 1920*1200 screen. That makes it even worse for people with a lower resolution. Worst of all is that my PROFILE first seemed to be gone and now I've found it as "About". This what I want to see if I access my profile and not the Geocaches. Lists: Favorites will be shown but just 2 of my bookmark lists are in there. Where are all the others? (btw: same issue on the old page, as I've seen) Again: I don't like the new version as it again is a backdraw for my needs and usage model. Bye, Christian
  10. Thanks a lot, working now. We just wondered as the publish date was Dec, 5th, a week ago!
  11. Hi! There's a new cache that can't be found via the search on the homepage: https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC6XEYB_ratselei-durch-bad-kostritz It CAN be found on the map. But if you enter just the GC-Code on the homepage (new search) it simply says that this code is invalid. You also can't find it in the app. Please fix that Thanks, Christian
  12. Wow. The button "Map These Geocaches" is not obvious enough? We're not in the 4-H Club here, aren't we? Hans Edit: typo Given that the search tool, as I clearly mentioned in another post is something I do not use, no. that is not obvious enough. I stopped using the search tool when it became what it is today and will not start now. GSAK is far superior in every way. Oh wow, you do have each and every cache in GSAK? Tell me how to do that Besides that you're quite right. But viewing the caches on a map might be missing in GSAK. This works pretty fine within the website
  13. That's been identified as a fault with the map service provider, so GS have no control over it not the ability to fix it. True, but GS did know that when they changed to the new provider. Even if so, they had no other choice...
  14. That's a bit too extreme Seriously! There were quite some speed issues long time ago and these have been fixed. Responsiveness is completely fine since then and this was later than 2011... Challenges: New ones came and went as of the request of the users! Challenge caches: Back again as a result of the users requests! More/bigger PQs: As a result of user requests! Map changes: Many changes have been made over the years. Some to the like of the users, some others might have made some people unhappy. That's true. But saying Groundspeak is only doing what THEY want simply isn't true! One might not exactly like the new style of the icons. I personally am fine with most of them. I don't like the webcam/virtual icons so much as they are hard to distinguish but the others are pretty ok for me. Can't tell about color blind issues. Might really be one. And if so there should be some fix. I just wonder that there were no such complaints yet for the mobile app...
  15. How often do you leave a browser tab with the cache map open for hours or even days? Every single day of my life Seriously: The map page is my default page in the browser so it always opens automatically. This works both at home AND at work And yes, it is STILL freezing. The new map design for some reason made it slightly better I would say. It allows me to work longer but after some time the browser still get unresponsive.
  16. Hi! Sorry, one more possible bug: I simply zoomed in and out pretty quick (higher zoom levels) and got tiles with the old icon style in between new ones. Deleting the browser cache didn't help! Bye, Christian
  17. No, you can't make me! I'm not seeing this. In fact, right now the performance seems better than I've been seeing lately. It used to be that the icons would slowly load and half of them would be unclickable, but now they seem to be showing up faster and I haven't found any unresponsive icons yet. I'm using W10 x64 together with the most actual Firefox and even the newest version of the map freezes! It seems to take a bit longer now but after some time I receive a message reg. an unresponsive script and that's it! You can't even close the tab that easily then. Issue is described in a different post weeks ago already and it's still there
  18. You just proved by this that you didn't understood that concept It's completely fine to do pm caches together with basic members. And there are some nice explanations on how they can also log these caches then. So everything's fine with the actual map in that respect!
  19. Hi! I tried to open the new map with my 2nd account (Basic) and this one had no home location been set yet. A pop up window opens and asks me to set my home location. It also shows me an appropriate city but doesn't let me set it. Neither "Go" nor "Set location" will be accepted. And I also can't click "Not now". The pop up simply remains and I can't get further that way. After manually setting the location in the account settings the map started working! Bye, Christian
  20. Hi! I've found a bug while filtering cache types on the new map. You can easily reproduce it! 1. Just zoom in to a place with some caches like HQ area until you see the full icons and not just colored dots. 2. To make it easy, deselect all types but the blue ones 3. Then deselect mysts and WIGs 4. Now click on the blue dot to completely deselect all the blue icons. 5. Select the blue ones again by clicking a 2nd time to the blue dot. Instead of having the filter still active ALL the blue cache types now show up again even if the myst icon still shows being deselected. Bye, Christian
  21. Are you sure you have read what I was asking for!? I do know how much it consumed, I simply wondered if there's a good reason it was SO MUCH. 500MB a day, come on! If it's map data this should last for a whole country (ok, a small one...). Data for the caches itself shouldn't be that much. At least as long as someone just is doing a handful of caches! At the moment the only reason I could think about might be the usage of new maps. As far as I understood the map will be cached and if these change completely they for sure have been reloaded then. Depending on the size of the map tiles this might work then with this amount of data. Still think it's pretty much, but it at least should stop then and go down to some 50MB a day or such...
  22. Hi! Just a question: Over here in one of the German FB groups some people came up with the question regarding data consumption while using the apps. It looks like it easily could eat up ~500MB and more a day. Is there any info regarding this topic and/or things that could be done to reduce data consumption? Like offline maps or such? Thanks, Christian
  23. Hi! I tried to use the "Search now" option on the main page today. I clicked "Search Now" and I was shown the results for the multi search in my area. These results were perfectly fine (besides that already found ones also have been shown). But if I want to map them, it first loaded the correct map (Munich in my case) and the swithed to Altanta, GA to show me a completely different set of multis. Like I was using the "PQ" of someone else now. Bye, Christian
  24. Yes. Yes. I once claimed FTF after actually doing it as intended. There was a puzzle cache that was based on finding 10 other caches in a series and using information gleaned from them. But the puzzle had a bug, so it turned out you could solve it without visiting the other caches. My buddy went right for it and claimed FTF. Although I'd also solved it, I grabbed the last 2 in the series before I went to find the final the next day. Then I gave my buddy grief in my log about short circuiting the cache. And the CO gave us both credit for FTF in the description! Of course, another day and our two roles might have been reversed... I would ONLY accept the one as FTF who logs the cache first. No matter why that person was able to do so! Tough luck if the co is doing a bad job with his puzzle or if with the hide itself. First is first and everyone coming later can't be first, too
