  1. Just started using NavCache w/ Cachemate, and I do not know some of the terms/ abbriviations. HEPE: DPOD: HPOD: I think theirs a few others, but I appearently left my Palm in the car. It's too cold to go out to get it now. Thanks
  2. I'm fairly new to caching in general. I have a palm zire72, and have recently bought a bluetooth GPS unit to use w/ it. I have Cachemate, which works fine. I use CMconverter to download the info from geocaching.com right into the program on the palm. What I like about Cachemate is that you also have the plugin to help navigate towards your cache. I'm also have Geoniche, and am trying to decide which one I like better. I believe Cachemate is a little better well suited, and less costly. Cachemate also has room to grow, since it can use plug ins. The question is, will the author, or anyone else take advantage of this. I wish that I could export the coordinates to my mapping software. There is a mapping software that will except coordinates from cachmate, but I am not up to getting a new software, and replace the one I have now. That's my 2Cents.
  3. I've recently bought a Altina Bluetooth GPSR. It works well w/ my mapping software, following routes, and giving warnings on when to turn. But I have had difficulty w/ the accuracy when looking for Geocaches. I believe that it's more due to the software however, then the cache. I have been using Geomate, w/ it's plugin to navigate when looking for caches. I'm going to test out Geoniche, and see how well that does. Appearently, from what I understand, GeoNiche will approximate your location, and Geomate has yet to add in this feature.
  4. My suggestion is to get a Paml Zire 72- You could get one off of Overstock.com. That's where I got mine, and I've been slowly adding on to it. It cost me under 200 clams, then the add ons, such as a hard case which I needed for work purposes. I work w/ students w/ severe behavioral problems, which often require restraints. I lost my first palm doing this. Anywho, I then got a 1 Gig expansion card, which holds a ton of music, pics, and also programs. And I just recently aquired a bluetooth GPS reciever, which brought me to the realm of Geocaching w/ it. I've also managed to get my hands on some very nice programs to use in conjunction. I think all I need now is a small keyboard, and my Zire will replace my need for the PC by about 90!! Technology is great. Anyways, I hope this helps. My zire is my ultimate carry along entertainment center, and it's hard to find me w/ out it.
