A właśnie, jak to się stało, że wpisów fizycznych było znacznie więcej niż online? Czy to za sprawą kont teamowych, czy było też wiele osób 'z zewnątrz', które wpisały się do logbooka, ale nigdy nie utworzyły konta na geocaching.com? Moim zdaniem napinać się nie ma co (zwłaszcza że napinaniem się tu nic nie osiągnie) ale warto mieć na uwadze, nie tyle nawet samo MEGA, co fakt, że Polska może być atrakcyjnym miejscem do keszowania dla turystów z zagranicy.

Od czasu do czasu przewija się nieśmiało temat MEGA w Polsce. Spider coś wspominał, że wierzy, że niedługo się zdarzy. Na grupie FB też padł taki temat, ale szybko umarł śmiercią naturalną. Z tego co widzę to w Polsce odbyły się już 2 MEGA: w Zabrzu i w Górznie, ale one były jakieś "dziwne": żadne z nich nie osiągnęło nawet połowy regulaminowo wymaganych 500 uczestników. Więc pierwsze pytanie, jak one w ogóle się odbyły? Czy Groundspeak zrobił wyjątek dla Polski, jako kraju, w którym geocaching zasadniczo dopiero kiełkuje? Czy fakt tak niskiej jak na MEGA frekwencji może sprawić, że kolejny potencjalny MEGA będzie traktowany surowiej niż to ma miejsce w krajach sąsiednich?

Nie ma potrzeby, aby kesze 'zawodowe' były opublikowane w którymkolwiek portalu geocachingowym, ale jeśli tak się stanie, i uczestnicy otrzymają informację, że będą je mogli potem zalogować online, to na pewno jest to dodatkowa zachęta, aby się z geocachingiem bliżej zapoznać. Moim zdaniem jeśli nad czymś trzeba ubolewać, to nad faktem, że większość keszy to mikro, co może stwarzać fałszywe wrażenie, że ukrywanie takich keszy jest czymś normalnym, a nie wyjątkiem stosowanym tylko wtedy, gdy naprawdę nie ma jak ukryć czegoś większego. A to się potem czkawką może odbić, jak ci nowi będą zakładać kesze, i oczywiście mikro, bo po co większe skoro tak jest łatwiej i taniej...

Zapewne by było to lepsze. Taka jest idea Lab Cachy, tyle że niestety za prędko na udostępnienie ich na 'zwykłych' eventach nie ma co liczyć. Natomiast wiele osób dzięki takim inicjatywom dowie się, że w ogóle coś takiego jak geocaching istnieje. I będą zakładali kesze, których ktoś będzie szukał. Bo co dadzą nawet najlepiej zrobione kesze, jeśli zaraz po publikacji odwiedzą je łowcy FTF'ów a potem będzie jedno znalezienie na pół roku?

Niech ktoś mnie wyprowadzi z błędu, ale jeśli event został opublikowany, to znaczy że jest regulaminowy? Jeśli recenzent ma jakieś wątpliwości, to z reguły 'marudzi' dopóki one nie zostaną wyjaśnione. A wyjaśnienie nie musi być publiczne. Koledzy się starają popularyzować geocaching, a niektórzy marudzą, że FTFa nie zdobyli, a przecież im się należał.

A ja tam nigdy nie rozumiałem tych FTFów... pewnie źle bym się czuł w średniowieczu, z jego obsesją na FTFa po ślubie Dzisiaj sobie zrobiłem multi z 11 etapami, w miejscówce w którą naprawdopodobniej więcej nie wrócę. Robiłem go w ogóle się nie przejmując czy znajdę finał czy nie - bo pokazywała ciekawe miejsca w mieście, gdzie było mało keszy i zero waymarków. I jestem bardzo zadowolony I tego wszystkim życzę

Uprzejmą prośbę należałoby skierować do Groundspeaka o całkowite 'wywalenie' trackabli z API, zarówno logowania, jak i zwracania liczby 'odkryć'. Rozwiąże to problem masowego logowania (gdy będzie się dało tylko indywidualnie, przez stronę) oraz 'nabijania' statystyk do 'badży'. Tyle że pewnie przy okazji liczba jakichkolwiek logów, łącznie z przenosinami, 10x spadnie. Bo porównując, jak chętnie są przenoszone Geokrety oraz jak bardzo ludziom zależy na samy TB (np TB ma prośbę o dołączanie zdjęć, a na 100 logów w galerii jest może jedno) a ilu chodzi tylko i wyłącznie o nabijanie numerków.

You are so wrong on that point. Bad balanced challenge caches affect the whole community in numerous very negative ways. Virtual discovering on everything found on private groups is the one example. Constant quarrels about logging own caches published on sockpuppet accounts are another. Grid challenges are even worse, because D/T rating is already very broken and setting arbitrary values only for grids make it even more broken. And those are just a few examples.

If it was a traditional, then the damage is limited, because most cachers don't read traditional listings, therefore won't stumble upon the TB-prison-clause It's best to educate the users they should ignore such 'restrictions'.

How could the challenges be virtual? How could they be bound to the listing coordinates like EarthCaches do?

Jak to nie są? Ja niedawno kilka założyłem, i to w Polsce... Tylko że teraz nazywa się to Waymarking, ten sam operator (Groundspeak) tylko przez kategorie z własnymi regułami i społecznościowym systemem recenzentów. Dzięki czemu nie ma tam rzeczy typu 'słóp koło mojej potstawufki' (a takie się trafiają na OC.pl, dzięki czemu zresztą i tam wirtuale zamknięto). A kategorie można ignorować więc jak kogoś np na mapie denerwują McDonaldy czy budki telefoniczne, to może to sobie odfiltrować i zająć się oglądaniem rzeźb, fontann czy kapliczek przydrożnych... Są też tam kategorie dla ciekawostek geologicznych, które jednak nie są 'dość edukacyjne' by móc zostać zaprezentowane jako Earthcache. The problem is, by many challenges you can never be 100% sure how to understand the requirements. We don't speak about challenges of type 'find 500 earthcaches' or 'find 200 large caches' because it's quite obvious who fulfills or who not. We speak about caches like those that Cezanne has given. Make 300km doing 20 multis. OK, I'd probably qualify. The longest multi I've made had maybe 5 km, but I've made much more on the way there and back. My usual free day hike is from 20 to 40 km. But hey, the owner says, he thought only about the distance between the stages. So what, he haven't written that. And that information is not given in GPX. And it's not written it's the shortest way between stages. I've made the longer one so I qualify. You delete my log, I'll appeal. Or the challenge like find one cache each day for 300 days, or find 200 caches a day. OK, no problem, I'm back from my 5-day trip, I log all caches on one day, or on every trip I log one cache for yeasterday and for the tomorrow. My log on the site is the same as log in logbook. Hey, actually nowhere is written they need to be the same, or that I need to log in logbook with date. You delete my log, I'll appeal. It's not forbidden to log own caches. Even if most cachers don't do that for statistics, they are inclined to do that for challenges, especially for those most stupid, like 'find all caches for all alphabet letters, including those the most exotic'. Owner dislike it and deletes log => appeal. So if you say the situations where the cacher can't be 100% sure if he qualify or not are very rare, you haven't seen many challenge listings.

Probably not. Because it's quite far away. Try to publish something like that in the middle of big geocaching area, and you'll get problems very quickly. If not appeals, than forum flame wars.

Nothing new. There are already areas completely occupied by mystery clusters. When multis at least require some effort to make, mysteries can be produced in batch. And many of them are the mysteries of the kind, where you need to know an aswer to solve them (in other words, no logical thinking or research will bring you ever closer, you need either to guess or to ask someone else). I wouldn't mind making extra distance requirement for ALL mysteries including challenges, because of that. Sometimes it seems that mysteries are made only to draw some picture, sometimes they are simply made to proove people they won't be able to guess the solution alone. And most of them have nothing to do with geocaching (so by solving them, you learn nothing about geocaching or about the area where they are placed).

While the idea above is nice, that are exactly those kind of challenges that makes the most problems for Groundspeak. First of all, the challenge is already not allowed because it is based on the information that is not available on Groundspeak site. There's only an attribute, that cache is longer than 10km, with no information about the length of multi. While such information might be placed in listing, it's not the rule, and that information may be absolutely arbitrary. Many multis have hidden waypoints, so the owner would have to 'believe' that the finder has measured it well. If I make a multi, I can make the sideway to other caches, turning 5 km multi into 10 km one. There are no rules how far the final can be from start coordinates, so you can imagine someone makes multi that have 1 stage in, say, Vienna, and the final is near Berlin. So you can claim such challenge as completed with single multi without hike, and 29 no-matter-which. If the owner will show dislike by deleting the log, the appeal to Groundspeak would most likely result, which is exactly what Groundspeak wants to prevent. I find it good to make challange, that require to make at least 30 multis with attribute 'hike more that 10km', however, the problem is, you can put that attribute even on 1-stage 100-m multi, and there's no way to force CO not to do that.

Only the fact that you have absolutely no influence on 'property configured network'. From the point of view of people who have no other choice the money given to Groundspeak would be money wasted for no benefit. Why pay for something you can't use? If you use ZenMate, all your traffic goes through the third party. Many people have issues with that.
