  1. Pipedreamer... I didn't see Courtney say "Hey, what's the latest look out on the trail" She wanted to know what was going to benefit her most. I bought a pair of Nevadoes from Academy Sports. They were inexpensive and the best shoe they had for women. My feet are really small or I would have bought the same boot that I got for my husband (Coleman waterproof)...However, the smallest they had was a 7 in mens and it just wasn't small enough. Find something that fits, is comfortable and that will do good in the terrain you will primarily be in. Comfort is most important. (Edit note: I don't like shoes. If I could walk around barefoot or with sandals on all the time I would. But the overgrowth and ground here just doesn't work that well with GeoCaching.) 3. I got a MAP330 by Magellan for 219 dollars plus a 30 dollar mail in rebate and Free MapSend Streets software. I bought it at Academy Sports. Great price, great value and a great GPS. Holly Selden
  4. Hmmm, well, I think it could be a combination of both. I had considered it a sport because of the physical activities involved. (Hiking, climbing)...but a game in the respect that it's for fun and not competitive. Holly Selden
  5. I realize we've only been around a short time, but I've looked at several locationless caches. Some of them look really interesting. I see several good points to locationless caches. A.) It gives a chance to learn something and perhaps see something new. B.) Still gives us a chance to clean up the area. C.) It provides some fun and a "thrill of the hunt" for some that perhaps can't go into the woods or hike up a mountain. If you don't like them, don't do them. I didn't even realize until the last 24 hours that your found/placed amounted to anything, really. For us it's all about something fun to do with our kids and with each other. It definately breaks the monotany of "Going to the park". We have something interesting to do. It's fun, the kids are all over it, we get outside and get fresh air and we see new places. Doing a little research to find a locationless cache sure seems like a chance at a learning experience to me. Holly Selden Triple M Cachers
  6. The minute I stumbled upon the website I was looking for some info on something else and found GeoCaching.com....Read a bit and that was it...I couldn't wait to get my GPS and get started. Holly Selden TripleMCachers
  7. That is an absolutely beautiful quilt! Thanks Deb and Seth! for getting it to Jeremy. Although we are new to this site, it has been extremely helpful in getting us started in this wonderful world of GeoCaching. It's nice to see how kind and giving the people around here are. That took a lot of work and came out so wonderfully. Good work guys Holly Selden

  9. Not sure about the e-trex, but did you have the backlight on? Holly Selden
  10. LOL!!! Funny enough, I was noticing the stencil-painted caches a few days ago and thought, "Hey, that would make a great tattoo!" *falls over laughing* Holly
  11. Go to the cache page. Up in the top right hand corner, you will see "Log this cache"... Holly

  13. We picked some that would be relatively easy for the kiddos. We had a blast!! The mosquitoes were in full swing...we ignored them and got lots of pictures. Quote from Madison: "Hey, this Geocaching thing is REALLY cool!" I think we are hooked! Holly Selden
  14. My kids are Morgan, Madison and Max...we usually call them the Three Munchkinteers or MnMnM's... Since this is a family endeavour, I left my standard screen name/pen name/handle at the door. Holly Selden

  16. Can anyone give me some information on EasyGPS. What I'm trying to figure out is A.)Is this something I want to use with the Magellan 330? B.)What advantages does it have? Basically, we are really new to the world of GPS (But not to computers). I have manually put in the waypoints of the caches we will be searching for tomorrow. Not sure if EasyGPS would benifit us or not. Thanks! Holly Selden
  17. Did your new Magellan come with a user's manual? I just bought a MAP330 (also by Magellan) and they have their support site back online where you can download manuals. I learned a lot today just by playing around with mine...walking to the store, looking up how to do things with it. Magellan Web Site Go to support there and chose from your model. From what I hear, you may want to make sure your software is current as well. Holly Selden

  19. Phantom, I actually spoke to them. The tech support guy was really helpful earlier today when my MAP330 (the second unit) wasn't working. The third one was the charm Holly

  21. Well, the first one we got had already been opened, was missing the wrist strap and gave us the message "There are currently no maps on this unit, initiating map upload"...then it just froze...couldn't turn it off or anything. The second one, during initilization froze up. It may have been because it was software revision 1.01.... Called tech support who advised I take that one back to Academy as well. So we went off again, this time, we took our batteries...it was the LAST one they had and I took it outside and initialized it right there. This one works well and has the most recent software on it. If it had given me any trouble, I would simply have gone to the Meridian Gold. I'm thinking we may end up getting a second one before long. I see this becoming a necessity. LOL *jumps in the piroque* Holly
  22. Thanks Scarlett!!!! I will call and get a name to send along with the explination. Great idea! Holly
  23. We bought a Magellan MAP330 today and it came with both a CD offer and a $30 mail in rebate offer. Here's the problem...They BOTH require the original UPC from the box. Unfortunately, one goes to New York and one goes to California. So now I need to decide if I want 30 dollars back or if I want the Mapsend Streets software.
  24. No boat here...so it may be a bit before we get to any of the hydros...Unless we borrow my dad's boat. We may take him along on an expidition. Holly
  25. After three returns, we finally got a WORKING MAP330 from Magellan. We will start tomorrow. I have 3 waypoints entered and we're all set! Watch out world, here we come! The Seldens
