  1. I have a geocoin that was placed in Newcastle. Someone took it and carried it round the caches that they visited...the coin is destined for the Champagne region of France. They kept hold of the coin for a good few months logging it at various caches. I asked them to release the coin into the wild to continue on its journey to France (approx 500 miles away)....so they took it to Finland and placed it there (1500 miles away from its destination!) Why would they do this apart from to annoy me!! Is my Geocoin page not clear on my intentions for the coin!! Ha ha ha Annoying?? Yes! Julie x
  2. Yeah it sounds like the same problem. When we are walking it is fine, as soon as we come to a stop, the location arrow on the screen will wander around. As if we are walking around in circles. The marker at the top of the screen that tells you the distance to the waypoint will vary from 0m to 20m and I think weve also seen upto 27m, then itll drop back down to around 5m. I thought these GPS things were accurate down to a few feet!
  3. We have recently bought a Garmin GPSMap 62S, we installed the free map that we got with it, which is the 1:50,000. But when we turn it on and walk to a cache, once we stop walking the GPS will vary our location by as much as 20m making it appear on the map that we are walking round in various patterns. Even when it has established a good GPS signal or in an open field. Is this normal? If it is, then my GPS on my Samsung S4 Mini is far more accurate than my £250 GPS! Apart from installing the maps, the GPS is straight out the box. Am I missing something or do I have a dodgy system? Many Thanks C7
  4. Hi, Newbie and technophobe from Newcastle!! Well after getting well and truly hooked on GC'ing we went and bought a Garmin GPS 62S. We have a few teething problems that I cant find an answer for and hoping the gurus can help!! Problem 1: When I zoom in to the 5m scale, my map disappears and I get a white screen with what I can only describe as a corrupt image (like the old loading screen of colours on an Amiga or Spectrum computer! The position arrow and scale are normal! (Forgot to say, the map is Discoverer 1:50,000 Full country that I got free, so if there is a better FREE download Im all ears!!) Question 1: Is there a quick way to add Caches to my GPS other than clicking on the right hand side of each one and clicking write to GPS. I tried downloading all the selected files (on the left of the cache screen) but my computer says they are an unknown format and I cant find the files or where I drag them to on the GPS. Yes I am a technophobe and therefore useless with anything more modern than a typewriter! Thanks!
