  1. ok, time to cross my fingers... Mine is comming tomorrow.
  2. WOW, nice bug, dunno what happened, I was able to post a new topic without the message! Ok, here we go again... I cannot read German but I can read the pictures... http://www.naviboard.de/vb/showthread.php?t=21730 (or Google translation here) While this does not mean the CSx is not doing well, it simply mean that we don't have to worry about the HCx, that's it!
  3. You could share it with us. Those with the same unit will be able to check if it happens for them also. Garmin is pretty slow to answer and more important, they often deny at 1st any problem. Again 2 days ago I called for another question and asked at the same time for any news about the WAAS problem and the personne was not aware of any problem. I politly told him to ask coworkers around because I knew a few was aware of the problem.
  4. I would say yes, the little "x" mean it got the high sensitive SiRF III chip and it makes a big difference. Those who owned both will better answer you.
  5. Local TV program presented that activity about 3 years ago. Didn't care of it for a year then reminded it and searched for it. Then I joined here and start reading only because we were waiting for twins. They are 2 years old now so I think it's about time for me to start Geocaching so I just bought a unit yesterday and I should get it tomorrow. Meanwhile I had time to found a cache without a GPSr last summer! :-)
  6. Also discussed at http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=168754 I also asked if it would be possible to insert satellite map view into an eTrex, possibly not or I would have read about it I guess.
  7. No.. Garmin is currently shipping... It's simply not the same business like iPhone where they had a million ready at launch. There was no fixed release date and production scale is not the same.
  8. Absolutly true... Ok, time's up here, calling a moderator to move it...
  9. True Robert, in fact I asked here 1st because obviously we are all talking about GPSr and being able to know what people own could be helpful to ask a user about his GPSr, at least bring up a discussion. Since all the Geocaching activity turn around a GPSr it would be a great addon. Since people seems to like the idea, I forwarded it to Jeremy. I could have also went in the GC Web site forum and add a link to here.
  10. On another forum, just 3 weeks ago they added the age. So we had to go in our profile because there was a new field to be filled, we enter our birthday and now when we read messages a quick look on the left let us know the age of the person. That was of course optional. So here maybe the age is not what we are looking for but adding a field in the profile (for everyone) where we can write the GPSr we own would be a great addon. Maybe a roll menu for selection so that we won't see 60csx or 60CsX or 60 CSX but that mean the list will have to be up to date. I will try to look if IPB as such an addon option. Anyone know if v2 will keep using IPB? edit: There are a lot at http://www.invisionize.com/
  11. Would it be a good idea to have the option to list on the left the GPSr everyone own? I've seen some forums that let's us list the cellular model we had and/or we use. vBulletin was used but it may be possible with IPB also. <--- just here
  12. If price is not an issue and you don't want to upgrade in 6 months rhen I would immediatly go for the new H series. Reception is greatly improved.
  13. The question should be asked to support@gamin.com, they will tell us if the new series was designed to be compatible with new high capacity card. Now that 2GB is common and 4GB is soon to be they should have had this in mind but the eTrex series is also a lower end segment so they could have decided to keep that for higher end.
  14. Legend or Vista HCx 60Cx or CSx Those unit don't talk but beeps. Higher end mostly dedicated for car navigation talks. The nuvi talks but not sure all models do. Looks all current discussion, many are asking what GPS to get these days.
  15. WAAS problem is known from Garmin, they are working on it and a new firmware will be ready in the next few days weeks. I know Garmin is not extremly fast about firmware but they need to test it also. About the "something more serious" I doubt, I would be really surprised that this cannot be solved by a new firmware.
  16. I don't know if I may ask this here in this thread but at work we are using a BlackBerry with GPS capabilities. And what's great with it is a program called HelloWorldGPS that use the internet connection to show the Satellite view of Google Maps and I can scroll in a lot. So as I move the map move also (of course) and this is amazing. It look like the camera from the satellite is straight looking at me all the time! I guess I would be able to confuse someone on this unless he notice there is no car moving. :-) So my question is there a GPS where you can insert real world view like Satellite view of Google Maps?
  17. How does it cost to ship to Canada? I see no price for shipping to Canada, even if I specified the province. They list the Vista HCx at 240$, this gives 250$ after currency conversion. I beleive there is broker fees or maybe taxes when it comes here? The lowest I've seen for the same unit with a Canadian retailer is 299$ so I wonder if buying in US should be considered an option. Seems you went that way.
  18. Please see http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=168605 it is exactly the same question. Thanks.
  19. Chance are that a few people won't buy Garmin or will double check if a hack exist. They will know later if it was a smart move.
  20. I remember a year ago a post I wrote about the fact the the SiRFstarIII was now available in the LT flavor (less power hungry) and was curious if Garmin will use it but we never heard about it. Too bad, it was 50% less hungry.
  21. I'm curious if you'll get an answer. I asked once about TomTom and not so many user have them so haven't received many reply. But for questions about Garmin, no problem. The forum could almost be renamed Garmin GPS Units and Software.
