In 2 weeks we will visit Las Vegas and I was looking at what kind of cache I could find there. I see there are A LOT of Virtual there and yet after 65 finds around my town I never visited a virtual yet nor created one. Let's take for exemple THIS CACHE that is close the the hotel we will rest. The owner ask him to email the name of the area (on signs entering the area) and the date that the area was dedicated. But in the end it's not him who will enter the log, right? Am I wrong saying anyone can log a visit even if it's no true? Or the owner can delete a log if he don't receive the proof like he asked? Thanks for lighten me up on this.

You rapidly get used to the last 4 chars (2 alpha and 2 numbers) so no need to add a "-" which is a hypen or dash or minus sign. Once I will be able to enter 4 more chars I may go with adding %last4 or %drop2 (knowing this one is variable and can be 5 chars I will have to remove a char from %smart). Overall I'm really glad I took the time to learn how it was working and improve the cache listing on my GPSr. When on road, it is now possible to go paperless now that I know where are the traditionals one with low diff/terr levels right from my GPSr.

Ok.. boo to Garmin then. I read the manual to find out what is the max chars length of the waypoint name and it is not specified, same for the Notes field when Geocaching in Compass mode. I think I will write to Garmin saying I'm disapointed about those missing information. So with this new information I've set %smart name to be 5 in length for now and use in the Waypoint name: %smart-%typ1%con1%dif1%ter1 with max length of 10. So it's 5 + "-" + 4 chars. Unfortunatly the "-" is not showing. GPSBabel limit?

I'm playing with GSAK Send to GPS options and in my Waypoint name I have: %smart-%typ1%con1%dif1%ter1 where %smart is limited to 9 so the total of this string should be 14. When I upload, I don't even see the "-" and there is only 10 characters. What I'm doing wrong? GSAK v7.1.2.14 Thanks

THANKS! That was it! Never I thought of that. In fact I think I now know what happened. I found the unit on the floor earlier today and I beleive it has was droped by one of our twins. With your answer I took off the back panel to look at the memory card and it was a bit raised. Resited it and all is now fine. I think later I may add a little foam in the cavity they made in the back panel where the card is so next time chance are the card may stay in place. I emailed Garmin a few minutes after my message here (in case nobody was able to answer me) so instead of telling them to forget, I'll see what they will answer me.

I turned the unit on today and under the Find menu there was only 5 choices. Power off/on and still only 5 choices. Happened to anyone else? I may try a reset later but I will have to reload everything I guess?

Same here and I don't know why. It may be my router or something else, yet I haven't looked more into this because the 1st part works ok so I can update anyway. Anyone know if we need to open a port for the second part of WebUpdater?

GSAK counts 48 found (while I thougt I only had 47) and then when I select the FOUND filter by doucle-clicking it you can read 47 Shown (out of 840). Why that? Anyone else? Thanks Oh and by the way, can we add a 1st colomn showing number count? I took a look in the Display area in the option and I don't see.

Do you keep the Geocaching function working in the compass page? Maybe I will need a lesson on how to use it without the GC mode.

When we get the KML file of a TB, can we see a kind of animation going from stop 1 to X instead of only a static yellow line that sometimes look like a mess? I don't know all the tips & tricks of Google Earth. Thanks
