  1. As I have YET to even get a whiff of a Mount10bike coin, I am guessing that most of those have been grabbed up and hoarded into private collections...this isn't much help to the cache world (not that I'm bashing or even saying ANYTHING bad about the great Mount10bike...more of a bash to those who have hoarded those coins), maybe if there had been some strongly worded rules placed with those coins, they'd still be circulating. (I don't know as I don't even know if Mount10bike ever even placed any coins into the wild, or if he had rules or not)

I think it is rather shortsighted to bash those lucky enough to have a Moun10Bike coin in their collections without actually reading what Moun10Bike himself says about the coins in their respective profiles. In them it says they may be gifted, kept and/or moved around.

I may be out of line here, and I'm sorry if I am...but this bashing is totally uncalled for and not very productive to say the least!! It all comes back to this: BUY THE COIN IF YOU WANT, DON'T BUY IT IF YOU DON'T WANT...BUT WHY GET PERSONAL??? What I find even worse than the TT bashing is the fact that you'll attack anyone that supports TT...THAT SOUNDS LIKE A CRUSADE TO ME!!!

The only person who's gotten personal so far has been Tommy himself.

I'm not attacking you, just stating facts.

Read the part where it says I don't know as I don't know if Moun10bike ever placed any in the wild....you are correct...I DON'T know. I do know that there aren't any around for anyone to enjoy though...and I see them traded like HUGE prizes...I think this is something that TT is trying to avoid with his "rules"!! I thought the reason to place coins in the wild are for others to get the chance to SEE it and ENJOY it...as I've stated, I've yet to see one in person!!

AND...if those comments I keep reading AREN'T personal, what are they??? You guys are getting so far off topic it's comical!! This thread is SUPPOSED about selling a coin, so far, I've read more personal attacks about TT's character (and a few others who have stood up for him as well) than about the coin!! In response, I see TT answering all (until this last page) respectfully and kindly...why did it turn personal now...my guess is he's tired of explaining himself to those who don't want to hear his side. we've heard yours, now......

Let's talk about the COIN!!!!!!! I love mine...great job Tommy!!

    Fight on!!

  2. Fight on Tommy!!! Don't let those who try to bring you down win!! I may not have been around for long in this caching world, but I know that YOU are the reason I go out to find TBs!!

It's a shame that others bring up SMUT (no, I don't need a bookworm to tell me the def...I use smut as a kinder word than I am thinking of)about your intentions! HEY...if you don't like his rules, don't grab his TBs...but why would you attack someone doing such good for the community! Tommy is being FAR too modest about his contributions to help the cache community! You bring up those logs thinking that shows Tommy and Helen in a bad light?? He places those rules on his TBs in hopes that the TB will STAY IN CIRCULATION...with sooo many out there, he's only trying to minimize the amount that go missing. Since that is a bonus to all of us (the more in circulation, the more for us to enjoy), I would THINK that any intelligent cacher (and I'm guessing most of us are) would be HAPPY to oblige. I am more than happy to follow the rules set forth by TT!!

Knowing what I know about Tommy, (and the costs and time involved with his hides and TBs) I am proud to stand up for him ANY TIME!!! Why don't some of you that are busy "flapping your gums" at this guy go out and place some hides, parent some TBs and spend THOUSANDS of $$$ to help the cache world like TT and crew have?? If you bring this guy to stopping his cache activities, we'll have ALL lost!! Yes, there are many others out there who have hundreds of TBs out, yes there are many cachers out there with more caches than TT has placed...but I can think of NO ONE who dedicates sooo much time and money as Tommy, Helen and the crew. (I don't know as I don't even know if Mount10bike ever even placed any coins into the wild, or if he had rules or not). Guess what...I've personally held a few of the TT coins...and maybe 30 or more TBs as well!! Only having been caching for 10 months and living 2000+ miles from him, I think that's pretty darn good. Check my stats and you'll note that I HAVE moved 700+ TBs and moved/discovered nearly that many coins.

I have modeled my cache actions from Tommy's actions...I too answer (or at least try to answer) all cacher's logs which pertain to one of my hides or coins (I only have a few TBs out so far, but have 31 caches and 20 or so coins wandering around...some are unactivated). I too place rules on my coins (as do ALL of you, just not as strongly worded as TT maybe)...i.e...."This coin is NOT swag! It is intended to travel, so please KEEP IT MOVING..." sound about right???

I may be out of line here, and I'm sorry if I am...but this bashing is totally uncalled for and not very productive to say the least!! It all comes back to this: BUY THE COIN IF YOU WANT, DON'T BUY IT IF YOU DON'T WANT...BUT WHY GET PERSONAL??? What I find even worse than the TT bashing is the fact that you'll attack anyone that supports TT...THAT SOUNDS LIKE A CRUSADE TO ME!!!

edit to add: As for the arguement about making the money on the coin...I think MOST of us are guilty of that one...aren't we?? Only difference...Tommy is putting that BACK into the community!! I'm more than willing to pay the extra if it helps the community...I only wish I could buy MORE than 1!!!

Fight on Tommy...keep the joy coming for all!!

  3. While I do agree that the unactivated coins are great to find, I am a TB collector too, so I can see the bright side of sending out activated coins for that purpose!! As of now, I have 11 activated coins and 10 unactivated coins out. A few were FTF's for a few of my new caches, the rest were just placed while out caching!!

I plan to drop another 30 unactivated coins....then I'll think about loosing a few more activated ones (depending on the other coins' progress!!).

  4. I have only about 9 coins traveling right now, and 31 caches hidden...I write everyone that either visits my cache (thanks for coming out...) AND everyone that grabs (or even discovers) one of my coins (oh, I have a TB or two also) or TBs...within the day if possible. My message to those I contact for grabbing my coin...thanks for picking up my coin, (explain that it's on a mission), can't wait to see where it's gioing next (add any detail about it's recent travels etc)...and a big THANK-YOU at the end for moving my coin!

I then send a message of thanks when the coin is placed again safely!! If my coin/TB hasn't moved for a considerable length of time, (say a month) I write a quick reminder (AGAIN...politely) to that cacher asking the item to be moved as intended!! I think this way, you start a line of conversation with the person who has grabbed your coin/TB, making for more of a personal, friendly relation with that cacher...friends don't steal from friends...I hope!! One just never knows when that person might come across another of my travelers!!

  5. These little contests would be better if you were allowed maybe 1 or 2 submissions...it looks like one or two people are coming up with the majority of the ideas. It seems this happens in many of these contests!!

  6. I too have been leaving coins (not a lot, but slowly turning them loose) in caches for the next cacher to take and do with as they please!! All those out there that do this...KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!! It IS fun to find a coin (unactivated or activated) in a cache, and this has picked up a bit in our area!!

As the cacher, you need to be willing to take AND give back to the cache community!! I see my hiding of caches as a way to give back, as well, my coins could be a way too!! Now...I don't have much money to just GIVE these coins away, but I do try to leave a coin or two in caches that I enjoy, or think would bring someone else out to enjoy said cache.

Wouldn't it be great to see that this becomes the normal standard of caching...give back to those who have given to you??? As the cacher, I have been lucky to rack up a nice number of finds and coin icons...as the cache hider, I am giving back to those who spent time and money to help me acquire my stats! Now, as a coin owner, I am trying to give back to those that have been kind enough to place coins in the wild!! Big HAPPY circle (nothing vicious about that)!!

  7. If you plan to resell this coin, why would you even bother to buy it in the first place??? Maybe to profit from someone else's idea?? Maybe to make a point that, although you AGREED to the terms set forth by TT, you decided to just turn your back to said terms and do what you want because you disagree now?? A person's word is his character!! I would think that someone that would buy a coin knowing they were just going to turn around and sell it or trade it (against the wishes of the person who made this possible) has little moral standards and isn't very trustworthy!! (mho)

MUD??? Maybe not...but probably not high on a list of trustable characters either!!

Is this line of conversation even on the topic?? I thought the topic was the great TT coin, his desire to share it with others WILLING to buy it (yes, at whatever cost deemed) and your bashing him for that! Come on...bash some more...this is sooo entertaining!!!

Now, I'm late to list some of my B'Day gifts on the "E" site...I can make sooo much more for these items there than enjoy them as intended by the giver!!

  8. I stop watching this thread for a few days and it gets juicier!! You "whiners" are comical to watch...wonder where I put my popcorn!! The comments about the "scam" and the "price gouging" are fun to watch!

When it finally becomes illegal to profit from your own creation, TT will be in jail right beside me and most of the posters to this thread!! I, for one, see this "profiting" to be going to a good cause...and probably NOT a profit at all, more like a charitable contribution!! Your complaints sound like you are griping about his price even though most (if not all) of the proceeds are going to go right back into the cache community...tell me, when you GIVE to those bell ringers or any other CHARITY, do you complain when they turn around and put that money to good use?? (I know...apples to apples...)

Many of those arguing about the price seem to have bought one of these coins too!! A "bash the seller" and then "pass the product this way" mentality??? Seems like TT isn't the ONLY one that can have it both ways!!

Keep up the great work Tommy, Helen and the TT crew...I for one LOVE your dedication!! Strange how those who are benefiting from your gracious work gripe the most!!

edit to add.....At least with this coin, you know where the money is going...there are some coins out there that SAY they are funding a good cause...but where is the proof in that??? The proof lies in the actions of this cacher...Tommy IS contributing!!

  9. "I was a bit hesitant on ordering this coin when I saw the picture, but as I watched, I saw the new pic come up and decided to go for it...I'M GLAD I DID!!!! Rockin Roddy....your coin ROCKS!! I especially like the color of the Jeep and the water...wow, those really sparkle in the light!!"

    "Great job on this coin!!"

This message was sent to me by a cacher from California....glad that you liked the coin!!

  10. I've just released 8 Rockin Roddy's Cachestalkers coins into the wild with various missions...2 have already made it out to Las Vegas via a friend, another is on it's way to MA!! As I see these safely travel, I'll be encouraged to loose a few more!!

  11. Yes...the Team Rod & Tod's Cachestalkers Coin has my Jeep Liberty cachemobile with glowing headlights and a nice pearl effect green paint job for the Jeep itself!! Available at www.chqualitycoins.com!!

    email sent!

  12. It's cause they so beautiful...

    Mike

Beauty aside...making BIG bucks to host an event that costs MUCH less doesn't add up!! The coin is nice...I'll agree...but come on...It's NOT that beautiful!! Host an event because you love the sport or whatever...not to profit from others coming to the event (or from sales promoting the event). I didn't realize we were in this sport for a profit!!

I too wish you luck...but I hope others will pass as well since those paying that kind of price makes it hard for others to have ours made at a reasonable price.

  13. 4 Rockin' Roddy coins.

    Geo Boo

    Geo Luau 3

Glad to see these are making it out, I have heard back from a few who have ordered!!! Thanks for the support!!

ME...I got a bunch of bills and junk mail  ...but waiting patiently for a nice surprise (for our area, I obviously know it's coming)

  14. Just wanted to say that the icon has been worked out and submitted for this coin...should show soon!!! I released 5 of these coins to travel yesterday...wish them luck on their missions...AND... I plan to place a few unactivated coins out for FTF of my caches I'm working on (I already did actually place 1 unactivated...waiting for the cache to publish). I have plans to place another 50+ caches in the very near future, so I will place probably place 25-30 FTF coins in those!!

I have a better picture for this coin, if someone could help me in placing it on this forum , I'd be happy to email it to them (I'm a bit SSSSLLLOOOWWWW at these things) As well afellow cacher has bought one and will be posting a picture or two soon!!!

  15. I don't even know anyone at gc.com save Rusty our cache volunteer!! I moved one of the coins to the unknown location, it has since moved back to the cache I placed it in...all are in my cache (but not physically)

Must be aprob with my coins as I can move other coins and TBs around without problem!!
