Lots of people have problem with Windows. I cannot load any caches onto my Garmin using Windows. Try using Google Chrome or Firefox, that works fine for me.

And this starts the roundabout again about cachers with very few finds hiding caches. There is another thread on almost exactly the same topic where the cacher placed a cache the day after they registered on the site and only had 3 finds!

I agree with the others, why remove it? If you delete the post completely the CO will no longer be able to see it either. I do not own any caches but a friend that does says it is useful to see dnf patterns, do people fail to find the cache at any particular time of year etc.

My understanding is you cannot do it directly from the GPS, you have to connect it to a computer.
I use Garmin's Basecamp program to delete the caches from the unit that I no longer want on there.

We have taken a tb in the past that wanted to reach a certain person, rather than take it to his house it was requested to reach a particular cache close by. I would not be happy about taking a tb to a set of co-ordinates that were somebody's house. My front door, for example, is right next to my neighbours (quite literally). How would I know which was exactly the right one. Or a maisonette or a block of flats, you wouldn't know what floor to be on.

A bit frustrating to begin with as the download would go so far and then crash. Eventually worked out that I had to disable all my security/firewall on my computer before they would download properly

There are no awards as such but quite a few challenges with various qualifying criteria.

I would say "yes, 100%" The main reason we upgraded from the etrex10 to 20 was because of the complete lack of map on the 10.
That aside, when we went on holiday this year we stayed somewhere without internet access and we had no definite plans as to where we would go each day, so we had to load up all the caches before we went. The 20 easily loaded 3000 (we also have an sd card), with the 10 we would of managed 500 at best before the memory was used up.

Welcome! As others have said paying for the app is well worth it. We used it for the first couple of months and after finding about 100 caches we decided that geocaching was for us and bought a dedicated GPS mainly because we wanted to spend the day out and the phone battery just doesn't last that long.
As others have said hiding is great but much better to find a few more first, not compulsory, but we have all seen caches where hiders have been full of enthusiasm when they start and gone out and placed a cache only to find that it's not so much fun maintaining these things when is is -1 outside and pouring with rain.........

They only ever logged 12 caches, all in France and haven't logged in since July 2012. I think unfortunately the chance of ever seeing your trackable again is zero.

If a couple cannot get there £35,000 caravan back as it would go against the human rights of the travellers living in it, even though they are probably the ones that stole it, I think the chances of seeing your trackable again are slim.
Sometimes these things travel for years and sometimes they disappear from the first cache they are put in.......
The forums are full of people sad at the demise of their bugs and the advise is always the same, when you release any trackable assume you will never see it again and if you feel you can't accept that then keep them, use them as a way to track your geocaching journey.

There is no way to look at a map of the caches someone has found. If you are friends with that person you can see a list of the caches they have found but that is about it.

We use the Etrex20 for most of our caching adventures as the batteries last weeks, it doesn't matter if it gets dropped in a puddle and you don't get "no service available at this time...."
We do use our phones if we find ourselves in a new location with some time to spare to see if there are any nearby caches we could grab whilst we are waiting.

No, we paid about £25 last year and we have paid about £25 again this year. Did you have a voucher for money off or something last year?

In a nutshell
1. Switch on and wait for "home page" to come up
2. Move little joystick on the unit to "where to" and push the button on top of the joy stick
3. Select "geocaches"
4. If you are outdoors and there are suitable satellite signals it will bring up the closest caches to your location.
5. Use the joystick to choose the one you want.
6. Then "GO"
7. If you then want to view the geocaches data press "menu"
8. Select "view geocache"
Hope that helps, the manual really isn't up to much.

Hi, there are a few UK geocachers on these forums but you may have more success looking on fb where there are lots of local groups. Also check out events near you through "Hide and seek" on the main geocaching.com page.

The answer to your question is "yes" it would make them unavailable to regular members, however, if they go caching with premium members and help find the cache they can log using a back door method.
The main reason for making a cache premium is muggling. Anybody can create an account and find where a cache is hidden. Making it only available to premium members means that, unless it is found by accident, it is less likely to be located and trashed "for fun".

Hi, I think the only GPS you'll find new for £100 is the Etrex10 but that is very basic and doesn't have a map. We like the Etrex20 and use the free talkie toaster maps with it which are OS equivalent. You could always try ebay.

And don't try and download 1000 caches to the Etrex10 - it doesn't have a big enough memory. About 300 is the most it can handle comfortably.

Well you shouldn't feel mean, it's clear enough on the cache page! I have seen that happen a couple of times round here, a magic box with compartments and you have to find the right one - no log today but found the cache!! Is it worth putting in the other bison tubes "sorry, no log here, try again"? I've seen that work to good effect too.

Whether you log a find or not is up to you and your conscience! This sort of thing happens a lot mainly by those chasing numbers at all costs. We found a cache container in bits, no log, so we cleared up the mess and let the CO know and they disabled the cache until they could get out to fix it. A day later "found it" log. If that is how people want to play the game then so be it, it's not the way we play but each to their own!
