  1. I haven't checked the website yet, but I believe Jailhouse Rock is located at one of Memphis' wierd sites.
  2. I'm still hoping to make it to the event. Don't know for sure what the family schedule for the weekend is yet, though. If all goes to plan, I should be able to add another 10 to my list of found caches on Saturday.
  3. I was in a fraternity and experienced hazing (and dished a little out). I can assure you that Vaseline, condoms and dildos were not a part of the hazing process. We definitely didn't have a small box of ball bearings present at our hazing -- ummm..initiations.
  4. Hey, Primeaux! I'll probably pitch in for a nice sized handfull of them if this thing gets off the ground.
  5. Any of y'all with kids ever watch Milo & Otis. It a live-action movie about this dog & cat that leave the farm and go on an adventure... Anyway, it has one of those pervasive songs that just seems to stick with you forever after you've heard it. Kind of relates to caching too. The oft-repeated chorus is: Gonna take a walk outside today Gonna see what we can find today. Hope to see some of y'all at the gathering. Too bad Jackson's biggest tourist attraction is closed (according to Bartster).
  6. Maybe KA calls this chasing the arrow, obviously a term he coined and is trying to spread, but the traditional word for this phenomenon is the "drunken bee dance." Jamie 5 points to the old-timer for proper use of the term drunken bee dance w00t!
  7. It happens. May have nothing to do with your hunt. I hate when it happens to a cache after I have found it -- I'm sure that's happened... I don't blame the cachers if one of my caches happens to go missing. It happens. I, for one, appreciate the fact that you have a conscience. Thanks!
  8. Yep. And from what I can recall, she wasn't even knocked-up.
  9. Where's Adam been? Jamie Adam got married and disappeared...
  10. I think that maybe my favorite DNF was on the second day of hunting for Hello! This Is The Operator Speaking. My daughter and I had a great adventure that day.
  11. Thanks to everyone who gathered & shared their evening in a wing joint. Here's most of the crowd:
  12. Kids are welcomed. My three will be there...
  13. I'm with Gib! I'd be there and try to hit Just ducky while I'm there! You'll have to bring your cool new inflatable kayak this time... I know the route I'll take to that cache, and it doesn't involve wading across a leech-infested pond.
  14. The same thing happened to the UN-Original Cache. It was in an ammo can when I found it, but a couple of months later, people were mentioning a coffee can in their logs. Wacky stuff...
  15. Sounds cool. A weekend would probably be best for the largest crowd from rural areas. The largest crowd from the urbanized SW corner was on a Tuesday night (that's excluding the first picnic where numbers were skewed because Salvo's whole family was there ).
  16. Coordinates for the event will be N35° 02.740 W89° 47.730 I will enter the event page in the next couple of days.
  17. So you're saying that the cache owner and not just the bug owner can mark a bug as missing?
  18. In the beginning, long ago, when there were more ideas than caches, one proposal was a offset cache where distance and bearing would be stamped or otherwise marked on a stone (or other object) at the posted coordinates. I believe that I do agree that offset caches are merely one-hop multi's. That being the case, I also believe that there is no reason for offset caches to have their own classification.
  19. I found this on the beach near Ditto Landing on the Tennessee River. Didn't find the cache that day, though. Of course, there's The Pipeline* ...and a lonely barn in the Arkansas Delta
  20. Ahem!!! Fine, have it your way. I'll only count Canada as one state Free Quebec!
  21. You were gone? Nope didn't miss anything. My philosophy on events has always been, "If you place it, they will come", so I son't know why I've procrastinated so long on posting this one. Give me a few more days and it'll be on the site.
  22. I'll toss another vote for JamieZ in the bucket, but only if you get him to ride his bike to the interview. /edit: Uh. I just read Septic's post above (properly this time). Looks like the Jamie interview is already cooking.
  23. I think you'll be holding at 399, waiting for the perfect milestone cache and you'll be overcome by the cache-itch when someone places a new cache in the park down the street. You'll race out to be FTF and then start a thread taking bets on where #500 will be.
