  1. I use an old Palm IIIxe I got for $20 off craigslist, Cachemate ($8) and a Magellan Explorist 210.

What I do is get my current location off the GPS, enter those coords into the PDA and then call up the closest caches to those coords. Then I can check the details, recent logs etc. Yeah, it's a bit clunky going back and forth, but I got used to it.

  2. When I Export from GSAK to Cachemate, I uncheck the little box that includes the template for Took, Left, and T.B. That way I can write anything on those lines more easily . . . or it seems that way. ;)

Good idea! I'm going to try that. I'm still just starting out with these tools and haven't explored all the options yet. Thanks.

  3. Is there a way to write notes in the log page in Cachemate? I see a heading that says "Notes:" just above the items left, taken and TB fields, but I can't write there, only in the other fields. BUt if I export the log to Memo, I can then write in that field. Is this just the way the program works? It would be nice to be able to jot a few things down while logging the cache.

  4. I have a used HP Jornada 560 (I believe). The power cord was a little messed up when I got it, but it still works. I have 2 USB cradles and 1 serial cradle for it. It comes with the cover and the stylus.

I'd prefer a Palm of Handspring, but what are you asking for the HP?

  5. I just got started with geocaching and can immediately see the advantage to going paperless. But after upgrading my GPSr to a more current model, I don't really want to spend too much on a PDA. I've been combing eBay and craigslist for one. Does anyone on the forums have an old one they want to part with. I'm hoping to spend about $25 or so.

    Thanks!

  6. I had one, until I sold it a couple days ago. It is a decent GPS and yes you can download to it, but it isn't WAAS enabled. I tried to find a few caches near me with it and couldn't. Later went out with a friend who had a newer WAAS-enabled unit and realized I was looking in the wrong places (although the 315 told me I was at ground zero). You may want to look for a used 330, which has a few more features and is WAAS. They can be had for not much more than a used 315.

  7. Magellan 315 for sale with manual. Good condition, fully functional. I'm upgrading so this one is going. $65 shipped Priority Mail from NJ.

This is only my second post on the forum, but my eBay ID is Luke1977 and my rating is over 250 with 100% positibve. I figured I'd offer it up to you guys first before listing it there.
