  1. It is unfortunate that we lost some of the site data, but we should cut our losses and start over. Next time around the site admin passwords should be known by the board to hopefully prevent being locked out of the site. I have seen similar cases like this. See http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/article/148469/it_admin_locks_up_san_franciscos_network.html I am willing to help in any way if needs be.
  2. I visited a cache last fall in Scottsdale, AZ where someone left a note at the cache site saying that the cache was taken to remove 'micro-spew' (can't remember the exact term, but it was close). I was pissed when I saw that, because it was apparent that a cacher removed someone else's cache because they thought it sucked and they decided to brag about it.
  3. I know of a cache along 1-15 in Arizona that is in a large pull out along side of the freeway.
  4. I've noticed that since I started logging out in the field with the mobile apps I have started leaving shorter and blander logs. This is partly because typing with the smaller keyboard is more difficult for me, and also because I have limited time to cache and spending the time typing the logs in the field takes away from finding.
  5. How is this any different than a bunch of cachers from a certain country armchair logging virtuals in the US?
  6. GSAK is a windows only app. You will need to either install Windows on your Mac and dual boot using Bootcamp, or run a virtual machine like Crossover Mac or Parallels to run Windows apps on a Mac.
  7. I found Potter's Pond (GC3B) which was placed on 08/27/2000. It is the first and the oldest cache placed in Utah. http://coord.info/GC3B
  8. Micros are not the end of geocaching. They are a piece of it. Just because you don't like them, doesn't mean that they are bad and that others don't like them. The site has plenty of features, based on cache attributes, where you can filter out this type of cache.
  9. Congrats! My wife and I are expecting a kid shortly after you. When we had our last one, I would take the newborn out for park and grabs. We found that driving around helped the child fall asleep.
  10. I max out at 1000 at 8.6 miles. In that 8.6 miles are a few natural barriers (a large lake, a large mountain, and a National Monument) that limit the cache saturation. Springville, UT maxes out at 1000 in 6.4 miles. http://www.flickr.com/photos/22416370@N04/4921302936
  11. It means you have logged a cache more than once.
  12. This is still an issue for me
  13. I am having the same issue. I just got a new Android phone and can't seem to register it with textmarks.
  14. On the 'Getting Started as a Premium Member Page' there is verbiage regarding the 500 cache limit on PQs. That should probably get updated since we now can get 1,000. (BTW, thanks to TPTB for increasing that). http://www.geocaching.com/about/premium.aspx
  15. I opened my PQ page this morning an noticed that my PQ list displayed PQs that I had deleted weeks or months ago.
  16. You can pull data and map multiple waypoints at once with Cacheberry. I do it often. Yes, but that is only with waypoints the user has loaded into cacheberry database and having to sort by location (which may take a few moments if your database is large) to find the nearest caches and tag each waypoint you want to map.
  17. If you want a geocaching app that provides live geocaching data and that doesn't cost $40 per year, don't get the Blackberry. I have a BB and though I like cacheberry for looking at data from GSAK, I wish I could pull in live data and map multiple waypoints at once. The Trimble app is too expensive and it appears there is no traction for Groundspeak to create a BB app.
  18. I got the same issue when I 'liked' GC29JDW, which is a member's only unknown cache.
  19. I would love it if they break out Challenge Caches from Unknown caches. I could filter out caches the puzzles that I don't want to attempt, but keep the challenges which I want to find.
  20. Utah is number 1 in the US in caches per person, 4th overall. We have some very prolific hiders and they all seem to live in/around Springville, UT. There is always something new to go after.
  21. I think I have brought this up in a different thread a couple of years back, but I had a run in with the Secret Service in front of the White House while getting the virtuals there at 9 at night.
