  1. I usually cache alone. Sometimes I have my oldest child with me and he loves to do it, but I do a lot of caching during business hours when my son is at school. This past Saturday I did a couple of caches with three others when we stumbled upon each other. I would not mind caching with others, I just not have had too many opportunites to.
  2. That fits the rules. Great! The only difference is now I would not be digging to place it, but I would need to find a hole that was pre-existing. That works for me!
  3. "ST," They are called Spinkler valve boxes. The only problem is they don't comply with GC's No Burying guideline. What if no hole was dug and the box was placed into a natuaral depression and had some loose sand fill around the sides? The camo'd lid would be exposed and it would not require the finder to dig. The finder would have to just lift the lid off and reach in to pull out the ammo box.
  4. I have a sweet idea for a cache that involves using a tough plastic utility box/vault that I would place on a top of a hill in a hole I would dig. I am planning on putting an ammo box in there. I have planned to camo the lid of the utility box to look like a rock. The boxes are normally placed in the ground and contain sprinkler controls or water meters with a lid that is flush with the ground. For the life of me I don't know what they are called. Does anyone have an idea of what they are called or have any idea of what I am referring to? I am trying to figure out where to get one. Now if I could get my hands on a cement one, that would be even better.
  5. I wish I GC.com had the ability to build pocket queries to look specifically for geocoins and jeeps.
  6. The mapping on the website today is not showing caches. The only thing that it will display is the map and the "You Found/Own" markings.
  7. I would use one of these, but it would destroy the cache too!
  8. I guess what I want to do is a letterbox hybrid. What do I need to do to create one?
  9. There is no letterbox in the Antelope Valley area of Southern CA and I want to place the first. What will I need to create one?
  10. I was wondering if any one had any micro log book template to share. I have seen the one offered on the official site, but I didn't care for it. If you do could you send them to me? Thanks!
  11. I bought some magnets the other day at Walmart for a magneting cache. It turns out they won't hold a micro very well. I need some suggestion on where to get a good magnet that will hold an Altoids can or a film canister. The only one I could think of are hard drive magnets but I don't have any spare HDs laying around. Any suggestions?
  12. I punctured my foot on a huge rusty nail.
  13. Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it and it works with my pocket queries, but It crashed on gpx files I create in GSAK. All I have to do is create a gpx file with the three waypoints.
  14. Does any one know how to calculate a central centroid coordinate of a triangle based upon three coordinates? The triangle is an acute scalene triangle. I figured out the side lengths and the internal angles, plus I have the azimuths. I can get it from a geometric calculation, but I am screwing up the coordinate info. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!
  15. I know Groundspeak has been working on migrating locationless caches to Waymarking.com recently, but do any of you know of any ones that are stil active?
  16. Have many of you guys go geocaching at night? I did my first ones at night because that was when I only had time. I enjoy a nightcap sometimes of a getting a couple before bedtime. I try to avoid the ones in bad neighborhoods or the ones that would entail a risky hike. Geocaching at night is a fun twist to the sport we all know and love. I am thinking about getting a headlamp help me with the night caching as my hands are full between the PDA and the GPSr.
  17. I started geocaching a month ago and I had been using my Geko 201 along with printouts from the website. Recently I started using GpxSonar on my Axim X30 and I just ordered a interface cable to connect my GPSr and my PDA. My question is what software should I get to allow for mapping on the PDA? I want to get away from some of this paper that I have been taking with me.
  18. I have seen a cache placed inside of a book in the library, another placed inside a very realistic looking pinecone hanging on a pine tree, and one inside a partialy cored out piece of wood. The book in the library was a beautiful find.
  19. I heard about it years ago but I can't remember how. It is similar to some activities I did with a compass and map when I was in the boy scouts.
  20. The worst one was one where there was a big pile of human excriment and a huge sex toy with in a foot of the cache. I had one where a hooker approached me for sex.
