  1. Yeah - I would like to "push out the envelope" some more so would be keen to join this. That weekend seems open at the moment. Lets hope the weather plays along......
  2. Congratulations HENZZ on your 1300 - wow you are really scooting along.
  3. From the various fun caches I have done in company of other folk this topic always features in the conversation BEFORE we find the cache!
  4. AndyT1 - well done on your 800 - good and fast stuff - Hope you did the corkscrew on Tartarus........
  5. Why do I feel this Apostolic cache coming on.........
  6. Is this for REAL???? 1564 caches in 24 hours? That means more than 1 cache EVERY MINUTE of the day, continuously for 24 hours? IMHO I am very sorry, but I am EXTREMELY skeptical of that claim. If each cache is 160m apart not even Boltt or Johnstone could achieve that. Until I see some concrete proof I will not believe that - ever! Multi-member team? Logging by proxy? Then it becomes a logistics exercise - not really geocaching anymore, at least not as I enjoy it! "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence." — Carl Sagan
  7. Well done Paddawan - looks like you hit the UK with a bit stick!
  8. Great idea and I will look forward to this for sure!
  9. Well done to Team Dauncy - so privileged that you celebrated your first 100 on my puzzle. Look forward to your next 100 and more!
  10. Brave souls.... Best of luck! Had a fantastic trip managed Psalm 119, Carrel's ledge, Changing perspective and then finished up with falling skeleton's and Winter wonderland on the way down (and back up in the case of Winter wonderland!) Was very misty though so views were lacking..... not sure if that was a good thing or not!
  11. There are no rules on this that I am aware of. My personal view is that I like to let at least ONE of the FTFs log before I log but that is me. It is a game and we are supposed to have fun - so just do that - have fun! One of my caching mates says he ALWAYS delays his FTF log so that he does not delay those racing for a possible FTF - he loves the humour in that - excellent - as I said - it's fun and we can make whatever fun we like out of it. One of the things that often catches out many folk here (and me several times) is that I forget to correct the date, and log seemingly the day before publishing. That is a problem for us folk in Africa being several hours ahead of the Geocaching servers. Enjoy your caching! (Definitely a greybeard!)
  12. BrianHFox aka flash and a blur..... don't go too fast otherwise like me you will find fuel costs rising to get your fix! Well done.
  13. Many many congratulations to Ipajero - wow we stand in a shadow of greatness - what wonderful experiences you must have had. All the best for continued fun!
  14. Brilliant Idea for an event - Work not withstanding - I will be there!
  15. As Andy said - we were just discussing a FB page - great to already have one - request sent.
  16. Lovely to have an event I could walk to!!!! If I am not working then I definitely will be there - any date is good for me but evening seems better especially if folk want to hike. That way less chance of underestimating the time needed for the hike - wink, wink! Oh and remember - my puzzle cache will be on the doorstep so now is the time to start solving it........
  17. Hi guys - so sorry I underestimated the time for our hike not mentioning the inordinate search time for Big Head. Thanks to Capedoc for his help. A great day and celebration for International Geocaching day and yes - the Boks won! Next hike????
  18. Since tomorrow is International Geocaching day and we have no EVENT to mark this by then it is appropriate that we will have an informal gathering at the Dunes restaurant (S 34° 02.749 E 018° 21.512) to enjoy the geocaching that has brought us all together. This will be from about 1pm onwards and the folk that are doing the hike on the mountains above will TRY to get there about the same time. ALL are welcome and this is totally informal. If I have been a little more on the ball I would have made an event - guess I have been too busy caching...... Please pass the word around to those who may not read the forums - would love to see folk there.
  19. OK so the final plan.... Meet at Suikerbossie, Victoria Access rd. (just outside)at 07:30 am. Ralph and I will go and leave a car at Theresa Ave Camps bay just beforehand and be back at Suikerbossie by 07:30. We will go up via Houtbay corner then on to Judas Cave, Judas Peak, Big Head and finally Tranquility cracks before descending down Corridor ravine. Ralph's vehicle will be able to take 10 folk back to Suikerbossie. Take your own food, drink etc etc. Will be great to have CapeDoc along as he has done this route. Anyone welcome to contact me on the following for any last minute questions. Zambesiboy@gmail.com 021 786 1039 082 864 5080
  20. I believe Going UP Hout bay corner is MUCH easier than down. Hoping for some advice from someone who has done the route. I will try and contact The Pooks. Sawasawa suggests we go up Houtbay and down corridor ravine to Theresa Ave - that may be a good plan. The caches on back table and below were not on the agenda as I think the original plan would be most of the day if one is to enjoy the hike. GC503E Tranquillity Cracks, Twelve Apostles, Camps Bay GC1YXJC Big Head GCWHZR Judas Peak GC111BD Judas Cave GC112PH Hout Bay Corner. This list starts from the last cache before going down - ie in reverse order. Mybergs - I think is a separate route this time of year because of rain/slippery rocks? That may be a one-off cache - up and down although there are several on and near the contour trail below.
  21. What about this Saturday (20th) for Judas Peak and Judas cave? Possibility of adding tranquility cracks.
  22. Nay also for me. I have huge satisfaction that the great majority of my smileys are very worthy caches and do not just boost the numbers. Having said that though - if I lived in Gauteng - I would definitely do the PT - "to clear the area" knowing however that I would not experience the same feeling of doing one cache that has taken considerable time, taken me to a place I have never seen and provided me with interesting history or background. I do not judge those involved in the PT - its just not how I personally love the game.
  23. Big congratulations to two real "gents" of the Game - Tomtwogates on your 1100 and Sawasawa on your 1000. What a pleasure to be with Sawasawa on this milestone!
  24. What a fantastic way to plan and achieve your ton - congratulations. One can never forget Frodos!
