  1. Hi Ibycus, I dl'ed the non-ISO version and it took a little while . . . Unzipped it into its own folder and ran setup.exe VB installer boxes got to just after agreement and this error popped up "Run-Time Error '91': Object variable or with block variable not set. ". What am I doing wrong and what can I do to resolve this runtime error? It's on a Vista SP1 machine, would that have anything to do with the error? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  2. I currently have the Magellan website recommended V5.35 standard firmware installed on my Marine GPSr. It seems to work well for mostly land uses. I've noticed all the other Meridian models (except the basic one) use the V5.40 firmware. Am I missing something with the older version? Would uploading the V5.40 wipes out anything unique to the Marine unit, or rendering it in-operable? I'm guessing the Marine has marine basemap and navigation aids database that are not in othere models? Will upgrading to V5.40 overwrites these items? I hope not. I've read the pro/con related to the V5.40 in the database section of this forum, and some of the bugs from the V5.35 actually got fixed. Have anyone done the exact upgrade to a Marine unit, and the results? In general, is the V5.40 an improvement over the V5.35 and worth upgrading? My needs are mostly land-based with a little near shore fishing thrown in (freshwater so tide is not an issue). Any help is greatly appreciated.
  3. Hi Embra, Thank you for the news, even though it's negative I still have the option to upgrade from the Sportrak Pro. Since both the softwares have been opened, I need to stay with the Magellan line. Which Meridian model is the best bang for the bucks? I don't really need the barometer and altimeter functions in my general auto uses, fishing and geocache needs. My Sportrak shows the height from sea level with the 3D model. Can't the Meridian do that? Is Meridian Colour units a good unit that's way better than the Sportrak? The specs. on the Magellan website does not shows a great deal of receiver performance differences between the Sportrak and the Meridian models. In my area, the Sportrak generally picks up 5-6 regular birds + 1 WAAs bird so I'm quite happy with that level of performance. The hard question, should I abandon this lower end Magellan path and move on? I will take a loss on the softwares but gain in the newer technologies and better maps ($$$) - perhaps even another manufacturer? Thanks again. John
  4. Hi, Excellent and informative forum. First time newbie post. Recently acquired a Magellan SporTrak Pro Marine GPSr, the Mapsend Street & Destination (V1.0), and the BlueNav mapping softwares (V1.0?). Primary uses for this unit are general auto uses, fishing, and geocaching. I would like to upload a region from the Mapsend S&D, AND a waterway map from the BlueNav. I've read posts on this forum where the second map will supersede and overwrite the first map. Is this true? Is there a way to have both maps uploaded together as two separate databases? How do I go about doing that? I've also downloaded the Mapsend Manager. Can the 'Transfer Files to Unit' option be used to upload files from two different Mapsend mapping softwares? Can these two mapping softwares be used on the newer Xplorist line of GPSr? I'd hate to upgrade and find out I can't use the existing softwares! If not, will the Meridian Colour be the end of line for my hardware upgrade path? My apologies for all the questions on my first post John
