  1. Hmm.. I can imagine that some people like this feature. Me, I'm not to fussed about it. I do hope though that this feature doesn't drop unwanted souvenirs into my account. I mean, I generally don't mind souvenirs but I hide all apart from country and EC ones. Getting one where I did nothing for would be a bit odd.

Pretty sure you can only earn the first souvenir by attending an event yourself. As for the

'Friend League' you will not earn a souvenir even if all your friends meet the goal. YOU must also find at least one cache in order to be awarded the souvenir. So you will not receive it for doing 'nothing'. You must participate in the group. If you don't have any friends it seems you can still be awarded the souvenir if you earn 30 coins on your own which, depending on cache saturation in your area, should not be too hard to accomplish. Of course, this only applies to the souvenir available July 17-23. The goals for the following weeks are still unknown, at least to me.

  2. The puzzle icon is currently NOT working from the map if navigated to by using the Play/View Geocache Map. It (the new search) has always displayed solved puzzles at the corrected coords when the map is viewed using the search feature. If you did a search and added a filter "Has Corrected Coordinates/Yes" then viewed the results as a map (Map these Geocaches button), the pins will show in the corrected position. This is a very useful feature. If you'll notice, the list of caches even displays the puzzle piece in the top left of the icon which is exactly what some users are asking for. Perhaps this and a toggle button are being worked on as we speak for the map display.

  3. I was hoping for a toggle also, just like the DNF icon. If they can do that surely they can make a toggle for posted/corrected. But I'm not seeing much uproar about this so it probably won't happen. Don't get me wrong, I love that I can finally navigate to the corrected coords or see them on the map but it would be nice to have the option at the very least.

  4. Can you please clarify something? If I update the coords on a Geo-Art the pins all move to the corrected coordinates. After they are found they then move back to the posted? That is what I'm seeing but just want to verify. I like to take a screen shot of the completed geo-art after I've found them all so I just want to make sure that is how they will display. Or, can there be a toggle on, off so I could review my progress on a geo-art?

  5. The Statistics and Souvenirs buttons are a bit useless as one can get there as well by clicking on the View Profile link.

Trackable is missing the most important thing: log/find a trackable. Friends.. well, ok. I don't need it but that's just me.

The really useful things for planning caching trips only comes below: Lists and Pocketqueries. There is no way to create a list from here, neither on the new lists overview. This is as annoying as the photoalbum feature on Facebook: I cannot create a new album unless I upload a photo at the same time. But if I create a list from the map I cannot give it a description. Sometimes I just create a list as a reminder that I still need to select caches. When I create the list I don't know yet what will go inside.

Please be aware that the Statistics on the Dashboard and the Statistics in your public profile are not the same thing. The dashboard link is where you customize what is seen in your public profile. I have certain things hidden in my public profile but am able to see all my statistics by clicking that button in the dashboard. I happen to prefer the public profile sort the new way but if it must go back to "About" being the first tab I'll understand. Personally, I wish I could customize the profile so they all showed in the order that I would prefer but I'll live with whatever you decide.

I agree a link to log a trackable would be very useful. I am also very happy the ability has been added to only view my recent logs. Thanks for listening.

As far as the display on a tablet or smart phone I used this new dashboard a lot while at GeoWoodstock and actually found it much easier to use and navigate through than the old way. I like it that the recently viewed and recent logs DO NOT display on my device since I don't need them and there are other ways to get to them if I really want to see them.

  6. This problem just started for me within the last hour so curious if anyone else is having this problem. I have 30 drafts from finds over the weekend and am converting them to logs. Instead of the log date populating with the draft date, it is instead defaulting to 1/1/2001. I tried to submit a log and didn't notice it had changed from the original draft date and was presented with a pop up that I needed to change the date. I can select the proper date and log it but I have to click the calendar year 16 times to get it to the right year. I just noticed with another draft it knows the date but then quickly changes to 1/1/2001.

    Anyone else experiencing this?

  7.

Also it seems that cachers can choose not to share their activity with friends, but I can't see a way for me to not see their activity if they have chosen to share it. Please give me the control over what I see rather than leaving it in the hands of others. If this can't be fixed I will be "unfriending" all my friends.

Of the 20 recent logs displayed, 17 were logs from friends and it only showed 3 of my logs. I want to see my activity, and not be stalking others' activity.

Couldn't agree more. I don't want to see this. How can it be turned off or just show my logs? Please give us the ability to turn this piece off. Otherwise, I too will be removing my friends. I don't need to be reminded that my friends can go caching 24/7 while I have to work.

Edit to add: Other than that, I really like it.

  8. What irks me most? There's so many things but here is one that really gets me. You noticed there was a souvenir available so rather than go out and find a cache that day you instead just date changes a find from the day before. Really? Very disappointing.

If it irks you, why would you do that?

You A cacher noticed there was a souvenir available so rather than go out and find a cache that day you said cacher instead just date changes a find from the day before.

Is this better? Oh wait, here's some more clarification for you: in order to get the souvenir.

  9. What irks me most? There's so many things but here is one that really gets me. You noticed there was a souvenir available so rather than go out and find a cache that day you instead just date change a find from the day before. Really? Very disappointing.

  10. Cachly puts the pin at the corrected coords and the pin is marked with a red triangle. That way you know exactly which cache has changed coords or not. If it's blue it's not "solved". Blue with red triangle means I corrected the coords and can navigate right to that point. The best $5.00 I've ever spent on geocaching. Unfortunately it is currently limited to iOS for the time being.

Searching by caches with corrected coords then mapping them is a great tool on the web site which I use heavily but unfortunately is not available on the free official app. You would need to remember which are solved or not. This was also the case on the old app as well. Again, why I prefer Cachly.

  11. Maybe all puzzle owners should upload their own decoy pics, with coords purposefully altered to send 'lame' puzzle photo-sniffers off on wild goose chases....

I LOVE this idea!! May have to make a puzzle soon and do this.

Hopefully, the OP has learned something from this experience. I also did not know about geo-tagging in photos until a CO specifically mentioned that users not upload them in the logs or they would be deleted. All my photos are geo-tagged but I am now way more careful about posting photos, especially on mystery caches.

Personally, I think there are many cachers out there who just don't know about geo-tagging in photos and how it can be used to solve a puzzle. Good for the finder that they were able to figure that out. If I were the CO and didn't want anyone else to solve my puzzle this way, I would probably take steps to try and delete the photo(s). Starting with asking the original poster of it to delete it or re-post it without the info. Maybe add a line in the write up to please not post spoiler photos or they will be deleted?

Unfortunately for the OP, I don't think you have any grounds to delete their found log. I'm sure you will find that they did indeed sign the log book and at this point there is nothing you can do about it except try and take steps to keep it from happening again as suggested in this thread.

  12. If it's reactivated, then what about all the people who have visited from all over the world and experienced the cache, the tunnel, the whole adventure, but only been able to log the "reclaimed" cache? If it's just about making this rare cache type available again then all those people should be able to log it too. I mean otherwise are they expected to go to the expense of visiting again?

Maybe the icon should be awarded if you found either one. Of course, only if GC300N0 were archived and replaced with the re-activated original. If you found both, your Ape cache find count should only say one (unless of course you find Southern Bowl, then you would have 2)

  13. I just wanted to share a discovery I made. I use a 3rd party app on iOS - Cachly. Was anyone else aware that you can enter the corrected coordinates for a Wherigo on this app and it will then update them on GC.com as corrected coords? It does not work backwards though. You cannot update them from GC.com because you are not given the option. Only works if you update them in the app. Once updated in app, the pencil is then available on website.

Just thought I would pass this on to anyone using this app.

  14. Yep .. <_<

This is how I'm seeing it more and more often.

Does it have something to do with number of conversations?

Because I have also another account with only few conversations, and that one is working fine on same browser in same time.

This is what I see most of the time as well. It is sooo annoying. It does work on the app but really, who wants to type out a lengthy reply on a phone keyboard????

As to why would anyone use this when e-mail works just fine? I happen to like this feature as I can keep all my conversations with people in one place rather then lost in my very large e-mail in-box. The biggest complaint I've heard about this feature from a long time user was that they could not forward the message to other users. This was a case of they have many earthcaches as a team account so one user probably forwards to another e-mail for verification by the other team member. Maybe that is a feature that could be added at a later date.

But please, can you work on getting this to function properly?

  15. Looking at my Cachly app the date for the log says the exact same time as my iPhone. That means, to me, that the log is set in my time zone. I don't normally log caches on my phone but do them as field notes. But, I do recall logging on my phone once using Cachly around 10:30pm and the log was dated with the correct date. However, the logs for the trackables I also logged at the exact same time posted with the next day's date. I did mention this to the developer but have not tested it again. As mentioned earlier, I do most all my logs as field notes and complete them later at my PC.

  16. I have a trackable coin that was given to me that is part of a Wherigo. I assume the tracking number is given in the Wherigo because it has been discovered by the players of the Wherigo. I guess I gave that info to the cartridge owner after I activated it. Can't really remember. Anyway, my question is this: If I move the item to my collection, will the players in the Wherigo still be able to discover it? I want to move it to my collection so it no longer shows up in the list of trackables to visit/drop when logging a cache.
