Woe to they that should ask a question that has been asked before in this forum. I like caches that are clever but not over the top difficult. I also like caches that I can open - recently I have found two that had tops that I couldn't unscrew to sign the logs. I like caches at obscure little parks and memorials that I might not otherwise see. To me finding a cache is nice but I like it because I get to see new places and learn new things.

That was kind of my point- I get all of those benefits WITHOUT paying. If you could get cable t.v. minus the channels you don't want for free - would you still pay?

Well, I didn't realize that my post was here for the amusement of the premium members. I posted this because I saw that geocaching.com was looking for a way to raise money. First I thought - well, why don't they just charge anyone who wants to use the site? My second thought was - what would people be willing to pay to use the site? You don't want to drive newbies away(hmm, from some of the responses I wonder) but perhaps the first 6 months could be free and then everyone would be charged say $10/yr to continue to use the site. I don't feel I would gain any benefit from a premium membership thus I haven't signed up but if I had to pay to be able to access any cache info. - I would . And before you tell me about the bargain I have to wonder how many of you download music for free. So, if there are any non paying members who don't see my question as a popcorn session I would love to hear your answer. My thanks to those who answered without the attitude. I don't feel my question was gormless. Perhaps this forum should only be for Premium members.

I can see I am not going to get an answer from a non member.

I am about to go to a different city to see a botanical garden. I would like to search to see if there is a cache near or at the garden. How can I narrow my search down beyond the general zip code?
