Thanks all! I recently aquired this unit used. The batteries are not rechargable and the battery life icon is at 2/3. I will change them out and see how it goes. ~the capt.

I have the yellow unit and it runs for a few minutes then shuts off automatically. I went through all the menus but can't find anything related (other than the light going out after 30 seconds). Do I have a GPS problem or is it inadequacy issues on my part! Thanks!! ~the capt.

What happened to my vista 'snail trail'? My Garmin Vista seems to be working fine but it no longer leaves a trail! Have I somehow turned it off? I can't figure out how to get it back! HELP!!! Thanks! ~the capt.

Thanks for the input - I e-maile garmin and they dropped a new cord in the mail this morning - I don't care what some people say - I think Garmin is good people!

You might consider getting a case for it. Most likely it's getting most of it's abuse when you are not holding it (i.e. in you pocket). I've even considered cutting off the plastic screen of the case for better visibility. If nothing else, it will hold it together better than the rubberband and allow you to clip it on a backpack strap or belt. ~the capt.

I have a etrex Vista that has been blowing fuses in my vehicle. In fact, it has done it in 4 different cars. It blows the fuse in the car, not the in-line fuse of the power cord. I've read through several pages of this discussion board to see if anyone had a related problem but missed it if anyone posted. Is this a unique problem? The cord? The fuse? The GPS? The user?!? ~the capt.
