  1. Nope. You have to edit your settings in your profile & actually name your city & province. When someone else looks at your public profile it will then show your city. Right now your public profile doesn't show your location. Easy fix if that's the problem.
  2. Hey, i was wondering if anyone new why I don't have a "newest cache in my area" link on my profile. Other cacher friends of mine have it and it allows them to click on it to see all the latest caches. Is there some setting i must change? It appears under the search options. Any help would be great. Thanks
  3. We used the Google Earth feature daily. We always double checked it to see where caches were. Any trips we take we plan using the Google Earth feature. It was the easiest way to see how many caches were in any given area. It is much much faster than the map feature on the geocaching listing pages. I can't believe that only 200 people were using this feature. All of our geocaching friends here were using it. I am so annoyed and saddened that this feature has been taken away.
  4. Thanks for the update. I submitted my very first one Sunday & was wondering how long it takes. I am happy to hear that its changing so that we'll get emails confirming our submission. I have a few more I am working on but am waiting patiently to see how it goes with my very first one We really appreciate all the work you volunteers do. Thanks
  5. Thanks for placing my post here. I appreciate it. I am really looking forward to my trip. I haven't had a lot of time to look into the caching for it yet though because I am busy planning two big events here. Hopefully sometime this week. If anyone has any recommendations about anything from caches to accomodations or eateries good or bad, interesting things that are a must see/do etc or even road conditions I'd love to hear from you. Thanks!
  6. Another good one is www.geoswag.com You can't beat their prices on a lot of stuff. One of their features that we love is that they have grab bags for $20 where you get at least 3 unactivated coins & a bunch of swag. You don't get to pick your coins but its always good.
  7. April 26th is the very first one ever in Saskatchewan Saskatoon's First CITO
  8. Hi all, I'm from Saskatchewan and will be on holiday in the Northwest at the beginning of May. I am wondering if anyone is planning any events near the beginning of May that we could attend. We are trying to hit a few states so we are only going into Washington as far as Spokane & Walla Walla or Richmond. I see you have events farther west but I'm hoping that maybe someone will plan something on the Eastern part of the State. We are also going to be in Idaho & just the northwest part of Oregon. I'd love to participate in a Flash Mob while out that way since the WWFMIII is happening on May 10th. I'd plan one out there myself but since I know nothing of the area it makes it a little complicated. Our holiday is from May2nd until May 15th & we are hoping to go from Saskatchewan to Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregon & then back through Idaho & Montana. The caching will be fun but it would also be neat to meet some American cachers.
  9. We were having the same problem with there being no 'ex' button. We stumbled across a post by Red90 that says the following: You need to install the iQue plugin that comes with Cachemate to the iQue. The file is called "iQueMapping.prc" and can be found in the Cachemate ZIP file. Just double click on it to add it to the next hotsync. Once installed, there is a box labelled "Map" on each cache page and a box labelled "Ex" on the list page. Both of these export caches to the address book. We searched for iQueMapping on our PC and found it easily. We added it to our next hotsync. When we hotsynched it there were no problems. We opened Cachmate on our iQue and voila we had an 'ex' button. It works like a charm.

  11. Any idea how long this process usually takes? What a great idea! Thanks for this
  12. On Easter we weekend, we hid a couple of caches. We knew that they wouldn't be published before the weekend was out so we gave the co-ordinates to our little brother early. He took a bunch of cousins who had never been caching before and they found the caches. There was no first to find prize so we think that this was fine. The kids had a blast, did something active for a change and are all now hooked on geocaching. We don't see the down side here. I can see if a family member takes an FTF prize how its not fair or if they were present when it was hidden. Otherwise its still a find, first or not. I'd share my co-ords early with everyone if possible but instead we gotta wait on approval. What can you do? HAVE FUN! That's what it comes down to. LOL
