  1. Not my worst nightmare, but something I'll always remember! Scroll down to my log on July 6/02 Cacherunner's Adventures in Geocaching Real cachers don't smell like Fleecy.
  2. quote:My life has been thrown into a bit of chaos this week by a new addition to the family. He's pretty sweet, but awfully skittish. We're working hard to bring him out of his shell. Chevy has been really great with him. Awwwwwwww!!! So what's your new guy called? Pontiac? Oldsmobile? Too cute! Real cachers don't smell like Fleecy.
  3. I think this may be what you're looking for! World's First? Real cachers don't smell like Fleecy.
  4. Whatever time you guys decide to start is fine-just let it be known that getting up at something that starts with 5 (much less 2, but we won't go there! )does not make CR a happy cacher. Unless of course it involves a Big A$$ coffee to start! Real cachers don't smell like Fleecy.
  5. 18? You go for a nice 7 km round trip hike, only to discover that you could have done it in 1.5km! Real cachers don't smell like Fleecy.
  6. Just checkin. [This message was edited by cacherunner on August 11, 2003 at 05:19 PM.]
  7. I too, don't think it makes any difference! If you like to go outside, get dirty, play with toys, and find stuff, what's wrong with that? I have never fit into the 'traditional' female roles (or at least the traditional roles that are perpetuated by the media, but that's another subject! ), and I love gadgets, toys, and finding Tupperware in the woods! As far as finding things despite inaccurate co-ords, I often 'think outside the box', and find caches in places where people 'swear they've looked already.' Be A Girl. Go outside. Find Caches! cacherunner ( The Best Girl Cacher in Canada) P.S. MarinerBC and I will be in Spokane next month for the Spokane Cache Machine Hope to see you out there! Real cachers don't smell like Fleecy.
  8. So, if y'all will take a coupla rookie cachers, we'll be there the weekend of the 27th (if not earlier). We'll probably end up taking our poor little battered dollar to the Motel 6, as it's somewhat cheaper, and fairly close by to the Travelodge (I've done some homework! ). Looking forward to it! We promise not to bring any Alberta beef, but we may bring some TimBits, if they don't get stale (or eaten) along the way! Real cachers don't smell like Fleecy.
  9. quote: Edit: oh geez - now even more people are offended. I'll remove the comment. TG-I've learned-you can't win! Someone somewhere is going to get offended by something. I know most of the cachers in question, and, has anyone considered that the cache log might be tongue in cheek? You can't believe everything you read, folks! I learned that the hard way. And also, anyone that knows how to research could have easily found out what cache he was talking about. Try looking at things in a way that might be different from the obvious. Don't take everything at face value! Same goes for caching! Done talkin' ! Real cachers don't smell like Fleecy.
  10. quote:Witches Hat was at 1.5. Nope...more like 3 stars....some rock hopping and there isn't much of a trail. At least 3 stars...maybe 3.5. Egads! Once I read how you folks were taken there, I cringed! That was NOT the easiest way to get there, and I've been there twice. Your guide is a nice guy, but he did NOT take you up the most direct way. I know that MBC took you evergreen, but I am referring to the other folks who went on Saturday and had to go up ALL those stairs! I don't doubt that it seemed like a 3 or 3.5. I would rate it a 2 or 2.5, IF you go the right way. Sigh.........perhaps we'll direct next time! Real cachers don't smell like Fleecy.
  11. quote: Relaxing - a state not to be enjoyed for too long as there is more excitement to come.... For you maybe.........alas, we are not amongst the anointed ones. We are but humble peons, cast out in to the forests, in search of the elusive containers which haunt our very dreams.
  12. Non Fishing Related We need some help, either with buying/paying for sandwich and snack fixin's for Saturday's event, or with the preparation/ set-up. I have a list of stuff we'd like to get, if any interested parties could email me through the site, that would be awesome. We're looking to make about 60 sandwiches, with chips, pop, and that true Canadian delicacy, TimBits! Any takers? Real cachers don't smell like Fleecy.
  13. <planting tongue in cheek> Yeah, and why do VW ads say 'Drivers Wanted' ? Cuz the ones they have can't drive! And I'm talking any ones from Bugs up to the squashed down Bugs (I think they call 'em porches? ) <removing tongue from cheek> Might just be a BC thing where hardly ANYBODY can drive (unless they're from somewhere else, usually east of here)! As far as the event goes, I think it's OK, cuz it DOES promote caching. I guess how you get there matters not, as long as you get there (albeit a little more slowly in a VW ) Long live General Motors!! Real cachers don't smell like Fleecy.
  14. It's not so much an Internet treasure hunt as a GPS treasure hunt. Consider this hair split and case closed. Next topic of discussion....... If a Lock/Lock hides in the forest, and no one's around to find it, is it still a geocache? Real cachers don't smell like Fleecy.
  15. Thanks Jomarac-exactly the point I was trying to make. It's done. Peace and safe hiking to all! Real cachers don't smell like Fleecy.
  16. I think that unless people were there, they have no right to judge. I'm a firm believer in getting information from the source, and then forming opinions, but such does not seem to be the case for some contributors to this thread. Why is it important to know how long they were supposed to be gone, or whether or not they paid for their service? By the way, they DID have topo maps and supplies, and they weren't lost. Look at jrav's post. Suffice it to say that all is well, and life goes on. Peace!
  17. quote: There is no doubt that the drastic change in weather and unexpected soft snowpack impeded their progress, causing them to fall behind schedule. However, their preplanning with food, shelter, emergency equipment and numerous packets of fresh batteries, ensured that this was far from a life threatening experience. This article does not reflect the experience. I had no doubts that you guys would not have undertaken this without having the experience that you do. Ahhhhhhhhh..........the media-gotta love 'em! You can only be prepared for so many things, though. Somewhere human nature comes into play, and you can't predict how people are going to behave. Not having been included, or even considered for this particular venture, I can only imagine the stories you guys must have to tell. Although I likely couldn't have participated anyway, it's nice to at least be considered. It's like finding out that you were the only kid in the class who didn't get an invitation to the cool kid's party. That's OK-I'm used to it Real cachers don't smell like Fleecy.
  18. I'll leave it for the people involved to tell the story (or not). Just happy that all is well. Real cachers don't smell like Fleecy.
  19. Glad to hear they're alright! Lost and Found Real cachers don't smell like Fleecy.
  20. First of all, I had to respond, because I thought it would look cool to have our avatars together! I agree with you-the Fraser Valley has loads of potential-MBC and I did a few a couple of months ago, and are itching to come back. Why don't you post an event cache for the Valley? Arrange a pub night-they've been successful here-good luck! Real cachers don't smell like Fleecy.
  21. And if you're coming over to Victoria, here's a few in the downtown area! Victoria caches Also, if you're coming via the ferry to the Swartz Bay/Sidney area, here are a few as well: Sidney area Real cachers don't smell like Fleecy. 22. Poor Zoe Dog!!! I hope your cache buddy is back soon-after all, she's so good at it-remember how she didn't want to give the bag back at Roy's Retirement Home cache? Me and MBC and Pause and Play hope she's back 4 wheelin' in no time! Real cachers don't smell like Fleecy.
  23. That's so awesome! We're glad to have you back safe and sound, and in lots of time for this year's event at Newcastle! As you can see, ther's one or two caches to catch up on! Real cachers don't smell like Fleecy.
  24. WELCOME BACK!! So, are you back in town, or is the boat just on her way back in? We're looking forward to seeing you out there. Talk to you soon! Real cachers don't smell like Fleecy.
  25. It's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaack! O Canada Real cachers don't smell like Fleecy.
