team laughing gravy would like to respond to team geo-remdation's 'bump'! just where does the Cantering Velociraptor need to return to officially continue the race? It was logged into a cache in Alabama - so somplace in Mississippi? and I wonder if the 4x4 Lightning knows that it's in a moving cache - an that cache's current goal is to go back to Utah (East). and what ever happened to Herbie? Congratulations to the first 3 finishers of the first Travel Bug Cannonball! Luck and determination were with you all! It is great fun watching the progress of this race! Thanks to all those involved with providing statistics of race progress! B

team laughing gravy offers apologies to clayjar - although the mileage did look a bit odd. related to other missing bugs - Dustoff left Mig 21 fighter and Pour me a cold bud in Independence Day Dilly on 3/17 - a note at that cache on 4/13 indicates all travel bugs are gone - how would determination of 'first bug missing in action' be made?

team laughing gravy would like to note - or perhaps it's already been noted - about Oscar's Express mileage... - with the 400+ mile NE 'trip to Georgia' that was posted - and mileage credited? and subsequent trip West - would those miles be credited towards a 'most mileage' award? and what about the rule about random checking with cache owners about physical logs in caches? - just curious about thoughts from other cachers at the forum....

team laughing gravy sincerely and publicly apologies to Cannonball Cop. We are truly respectful of law enforcement but were anxious about reports that a cop had 'gone bad'. we are penitant and will do our jail time politely. we are throwing ourselves on the mercy of the court. it's just that we had just lost another traveller 'eugene rockclimber' in So. Calif. who was placed in a cache - then the entire cache disappeared! is that better than having a cache blown up by a police department? (this really happened in Cleveland just last week!) don't think any traveler's had gotten that far yet. the apology is sincere - and we are much happier knowing we are in the hands of a 'good cop'!!

and... once forward progress has been achieved to a state - ie. Ohio - if backward progress places bug in NY - is forward progress still limited to adjacent states to NY? or to adjacent states to Ohio? don't want to be eliminated because of not following rules....

Can we get some groundrules on 'anything goes' in the Cannonball? If forward progress is limited to adjacent states - is backward progress limited the same way? and once a cacher is in possession of a racer bug - is there a time limit to placement in a cache? These questions are open to the forum - requesting feedback from any who care...
