  1. I got mine from tvnav.com They were the cheapest I found. Called them & ordered around 9:00am one day, got it about 3:00pm the next! Don't have any complaints on the 76S either! "Aluminum foil makes a nice hat...and blocks out the government's mind control rays."
  2. The best prices I've found for Garmin, and Ram Mounts is at TV Nav.comweb page[/url] When I ordered my GPS, I ordered it one morning, and was trying to figure out how to use it the next afternoon! Of course they are in KS, and I live in MO. They back up their products also, ordered a Ram mount, and when it arrived one of the pieces was broken, called them, and they sent me a new one just as fast. Also, I didn't have to send them the broken one...saved me some shipping!
  3. I posted this in another thread, here goes again: quote:Topo Software I recently purchased DeLorme's 3-D TopoQuads. I got to look at the program before I purchased it, and it seemed pretty good. The major selling point was the 3-D aspect. Also, they were 1:24,000 which I wanted so I could map my property. Got it home, and started playing with it, and couldn't figure out how to download tracks, and waypoints. Nothing seemed to work. Sent an email to DeLorme, and they fired back an email to me the next day, as a matter of fact this went on for several days, and they always had a quick reply. Bad thing is...I own a Garmin GPSMap 76S. Come to find out, they aren't set up for my GPS (along with several other units)! However the nice people at DeLorme told me that this isn't a big problem. I can just buy some other software, which will accept my GPS! Great idea, Lets see, $99.00 for orginal software, more software @$30.00+....Gee I can do that!!! I DON'T THINK SO TIM!!!! DeLorme has a 30 day return policy which I'm going to take advantage of. I think the bottom line, is check with the company to make sure you can use your GPS with the software, before you buy!! I think I'm going to go with National Geographic, can't upload it into my GPS, but I can download tracks & waypoints onto the map.
  4. Here is a copy of what I posted in another thread: quote: Topo Software I recently purchased DeLorme's 3-D TopoQuads. One thing that really ticked me off with DeLorme is that they had nothing saying which GPS's their software would support, and they wanted me to by more software to make it work. NG says that their's will support the 76S

  6. Doug, I've got a 76S, and am pretty satisified with it. However, I don't have anything to compare it with, as this is the first one I've owned & used. I don't know where you are from, however, I'm from Mo., and own some acreage in the Missouri Ozarks. Most of the land is heavly forested, and this summer, I didn't have much problem getting satellites. I don't remember what I was receiving, but if I remember right, the accuracy was usually within 12-20ft. This fall during deer season, I even got within 7'. All in all, I really like it! Roy Evans
  7. Thanks for the answers! I kind of figured that it was something like I was standing 16.3 ft. from a white oak tree, on the north side with the wind blowing from the s.e. and passing gas to the tune of Dixie. I have noticed that sometimes I can turn WAAS off, and get better accruacy. I thought 12 ft. was doing pretty good, but after all they said "within 3 meters", so I beleived them. BTW, the tooth fairy is coming tonight, and I'm almost ready to send off my letter to Santa!
  8. I bought a Garmin Map76s in March. Until this last weekend the best accuracy I could get was 12'. After last weekend I'm getting 7-8' routinely. Does anyone have an explaination?
