  1. Thanks for the replies folks I'll certainly give the Froggies a look if I do decide to get an ipad I do use GSAK so will give iGeoKnife a look also Thanks again Ben Nevis (aka Mike)
  2. Hi All This has probably been asked many a time so my apologies. My current setup is an Oregon 450 with McKryton's Toolkit and MemoryMap on my laptop. This allows me to add a CSV overlay showing my PQ caches on the map. Rather than lug a big 17" laptop around, I list the caches that we plan to do on a bit of paper as the screen on the Oregon is a wee bit small. I have missed loads of caches as I haven't noticed them on the Oregon. I'm thinking about buying an ipad mini and was wondering if theres an app or similar that will allow me to save and show my PQ caches on a map where theres no wifi access. Are there any cachers out there using their ipad in this way? Mike (Ben Nevis)
  3. All seems OK apart from the fact that North Scotland covers a huge area compared to some of the minute areas in England. Would it not have been more sensible to split Scotland into North East, North West, South East and South West?
  4. I have a habit of throwing my 60CSx into my rucksack at the end of a caching trip without switching it off. More often than not I hear the "Arriving at destination" beep coming from my rucksack when approaching a waypoint on the way back to my car. This thing is amazing!!
  5. Hi My mate leaves work this week and I would like to upgrade his membership to Premium Member status as part of a leaving gift. Is there any way I could do this without him knowing as I would like to issue him with a wee certificate saying "At long last, you are now a Premium Member"??

    compass required

Batteries die, GPSrs smash on rocks, float down rivers, get left sitting by a cache, reception gets lost. AAAAGH The salesman never mentioned that when I bought my GPS! A compass would be handy in woods and other place where you lose reception
  7. I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem. I have been so p**sed off with it that I have been printing out caches which kinda defeats the purpose of ebooks. I travelled down to the South of England last week and created a PQ using the in-laws post code as the origin. With everything mixed up I could have been in Timbuktoo for all I knew. Mobipocket is the only program I can get to work properly on my PPC. I have tried others but although they uploaded OK for some reason the co-ords were wrong.
  8. I have changed my software setup. I now use Mobipocket and open it as an ebook. This seems to work fine. Only problem is when I preview the ebook before dowloading, caches are listed closest to home first but when I read it on the PDA all the caches are mixed up. These things are sent to try us!!
  9. Hi Thanks for replying The PDA is a Mitac Mio Pocket PC. I have GPXview installed on the PDA. I created a PQ and ran it through SPINNER on the PC before downloading to PDA. Cheers again
  10. Hi all I recently became a premium member and decided to download a Pocket Query into my PDA rather than print out reams of caches. All went well until I tried it out at a cache site yesterday - the co ords were miles out. When I checked everything when I got home I found that the Cache details in the PQ on the PC were ok but the downloaded PQ co ords on the PDA were different. The cache code is the same. The text is the same only the Co ords are different. Anybody come across this problem and if so what am I doing wrong?
  11. Cycle through to the Setup page, select Set Units, and change the Position Frmt setting from British to H D°M.M' (hemisphere, degrees, decimal minutes). While you're on that Set Units page, also make sure the Map Datum is set to WGS84 - that's the datum used for the deg/dec-minutes coordinates displayed on the cache pages. Many Thanks, Munin Will try it out over the weekend Thanks again Ben
  12. This has probably been asked a million time so I apologise in advance. I use a Garmin Foretrex 201. When Geocaching I input the British Grid ref and I can find the cache this way but some of the caches use a different format ie N57 24.048 W 002 13.227 How do I set my GPS for this format?
  13. I use a Garmin Foretrex 201. I wear it on my wrist. It seems to do the trick. Does anyone else use one
