  1. Hmm, at first hearing, "Over the pole" sounds like it could be an 'antipode", but where both latitudes are in the same hemisphere (to avoid drowning.)
  2. OK noting an often lack of important point sites on the other side of the world to pin our cache to on this side of the world, I have used above tool to find where e.g., their national border crosses our big highway, etc.: intersection of two liner features. Hmm, their coastline crosses our river, etc. The only problem is placing a cache upon a busy or wet linear feature... (Well as my only cache is under my bed, I have little actual experience (that's why it is under my bed... I don't want to be a Virgin Cacher for life ) And not that kind of "busy or wet linear feature" you are thinking of please.)
  3. Well OK but at least choose the antipode of a church steeple (exact point) or town hall (few square meters area) etc. Else just picking a point inside the few hundred square kilometers of the antipode shadow of a whole island sort of dilutes the fun.
  4. Gee with such puny plates, how are BC rescue crews supposed to read them from a truck? OK, I added BC to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utility_poles#References . Thanks!
  5. Hi. I'm Jidanni from Taiwan. I wanted to plant a cache under my bed but Mom said that wasn't allowed. So I just lurk. OK, I play CouchSurfing instead
  6. Why of course, the perfect place to plant a cache, at the antipodes of the center point of famous buildings, towers, etc.! Wait, there aren't many, most of them are underwater. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antipodes Never mind.

  8. Well in my case it is the http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Taiwan_Power_Company_grid . And in all cases they can be converted to WGS84, more or less exactly. So it is a good time to start noticing your humble utility pole. Nice backup, just in case one day Dr. Evil pulls the plug on GPS!
  9. Ever notice the coordinates on utility pole labels near your home? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utility_poles#Coordinates_on_pole_labels I found them a neat way as a poorman's suppliment to GPS in crowed urban areas with poor reception. One could even say they are a way to drag non-GPS users into the fun... Anyway, how could I have not notice/understood them for all those years?
