  2. Can you post the big one? It's better to start fresh. ETA I forgot to log out my son ... I am enfanTerrible, not terribleToo. Here you go, thanks:
  3. I use an inexpensive GPS (without maps) by using Google Earth. It's free software that you can use to map out what caches you want to find and where they are. You can download a .KML file from www.geocaching.com that puts all the caches right on the Google Earth map and you can click on each one to get details. It's very cool and VERY necessary to do your mapping if your GPS can't.
  4. I need alittle help with mine. I made it 583 X 303 and it looks decent, then I resized it to 144 X 75 and uploaded it and now it looks like crap. Any suggestions?
  5. We're fairly new to geocaching and even newer to the world of benchmarks. While placing a geocache in a remote hiltop area, we noticed a witness post. Further investigation, and several trips later for tools has produced our first "buried" benchmark. See pic. We carefully cleaned it off and took pics, but I can't seem to figure out how to look it up. A search on geocaching.com's benchmark page returned one result for 145 HLZ but its in SC and we are in PA. Am I dealing with "apples and oranges" here or am I missing something?
  6. Got my geostickers, they look great! There's already one on the back of my cachemobile and there'll be some happy geocachers in my area when they see what I've left for them in my caches. Left you A++++ feedback - Thank You! It was pretty cool to watch the design come about right here on Groundspeak!
  7. I had a similar problem with the coords on Google Earth. You can change the GPSr's format or the software's so they match. Or......you can use this converter to do it by hand: http://www.robuck.net/geocaching/convert.php
  8. I think the manufacturers who make GPS units make profits on the units themselves. Any seperate software needed to enhance the unit should be sold seperately but ownership should belong to the purchaser to do whatever he/she sees fit. Alas, there are more $$ to be made the way the manufacturers have it set up now. These limited unlock codes only work because people are willing to pay the price. I'm surprised that with the number of tech oriented users here, cracked codes aren't more popular. Then again, maybe there are - just not as obvious as in other forums. Of course that wouldn't be legal but it would kinda even things out.
  9. Sounds like CCD - Compulsive Caching Disorder http://www.todayscacher.com/2006/mar/humor3.asp
  10. Looking for Mapsource software named Garmin MapSource Points of Interest North America CD
  11. tadpole, and PROUD of it!!
  12. I just picked up some nice bouncy balls at dollar general that have frogs inside them, very similar to "signal" Also picked up some suction cup compass' at a tool sale all for $1/ each.
  13. Not sure of quality or service but these guys: http://stores.ebay.com/NorthStar-GPS seem to sell alot of mounts for different units for reasonable prices.
  14. We bought a Garmin 72 as our first GPRr and it works fine for geocaching. It was inexpensive and the screen is bigger than some and easy to read. On the down side, you have to buy map software from Garmin to get maps with any detail which costs about $30. I'm sure there are alot of units with more features and more memory, but for a basic unit for geocaching we're satisfied with it.
  15. Newbie here, looking for used MapSource Trip and Waypoint Manager Garmin Part Number: 010-10215-04 or compatible software for use in GPS 72.
