My wife and I tracked one down that was 14 kilometers off, in a different city. We found it based on some clues in the listing, mentioning a park (though they made new up a name for the park). No idea how they were so wrong on that one. However, that was about 20 minutes after a separate cache, by the same owner, that was about 400 feet off.

So happy I found this thread. I never knew about the set map preferences until now- I was going crazy trying to figure out why GS was forcing terrible maps upon me.

I am trying to track down some geocachers that may be living in Kauai, but all of the forums I have been able to find for local cachers there are inactive. Sadly, it seems that most of the people that create caches on the island are not locals, just visitors. I need to find someone that lives there to help me place a cache before I visit in June. If anyone lives on the island and would be willing to help, let me know and I will give you details on what I am trying to do. Thanks!
