  1. There is this one in San Francisco where multiple people have found discarded syringes where they thought the cache might be hidden (check the 6th photo in the gallery, Apr/04/2011)
  2. I just got my first D-5/T-5 geocache today. It was a traditional and I got it on foot. This one here:GC415Q7 I ran into 2 other cachers along the way so I had saftey in numbers. My hands and legs are really sore, but I feel really accomplished for going out and getting it done. Anyone else have some really awesome stories about thier 5x5 star finds?
  3. 25 doesn't seem too unbelievable. There's a challenge cache called Challenge: 29 not too far away from me that requires you to find 29 caches on the 29th of any month, two of them needing to be different types from the rest. (so at least 3 different types of those 29) So far 12 people have already found it. Some found well over the needed amount, the last log found 50 in a day!
  4. There's this one in Yahualica, Jalisco Mexico - http://coord.info/GC2MZNK it was hidden in Jan of 2011 and still hasn't gotten a single find. My girlfriends family vacations there annually so I'm hoping to try and find it next year....if it's there still.
  5. Uh....I've left golf balls, and tennis balls lol sorry I just come across them and leave them for the randomness of it all. But in my defense I usually leave them in caches that have golf/tennis courts in the area!
  6. I found a piece of paper in a ziplock bag with a bunch of signatures on it....now why would that be in a cache?
  7. Ran into plenty of ticks and mosquito's, but the most dangerous would have to be a large pair of rattle snakes just last week who DIDN'T RATTLE THEIR TAILS! Also ran into plenty of yellowjacket, and honey/bumblebee hives. Don't have to worry too much about Black widow's in California since they've mostly been replaced with brown widows (non-posionous)in urban area's. There are coyote's and Mountain Loins in the area too though I haven't run into any personally, but I know others who have.
  8. I found a cache on the east bay near Berkeley that originated from the same idea. You should keep the cache going afterward!GC124FY
  9. An update from my last post, I had my first Rattle snake encounter at GCP9DQ! While walking along the trail something larger than normal moved along the grass next to me. After stopping and looking I noticed it was a rather large snake, but what kind of snake? Continued watching and noticed the head of a Southern Pacific Rattlesnake! Walked down the trail keeping a safe distance. Got to a point where I could see it clearly through the grass, and it hissed pretty loudly then quickly darted into it's hole. I looked over and saw a SECOND rattle snake, slightly smaller coiled up. They may have been a breeding pair. Still at a safe distance took some photo's as it slithered into it's hole to join it's mate. Strangest thing about all of this was NOT ONCE DID EITHER SNAKE RATTLE THEIR TAIL! But as you can see in my 2nd photo they clearly had rattles, they just did not use them.
  10. Found this California King Snake on the way to grabbing GC2MJF4. Non-venomous though, so I went ahead and pet it after taking this picture lol. There were signs in the area warning about rattlesnakes but their generally not very common in the California Bay Area.
