  1. I don't see any reviewer note on your most recent puzzle cache.
  2. I recently got permission to place caches on some family land that is used as a boyscout camp. I am planning on placing several caches with the scouts in mind. The first is a series of four caches for each of the four elements earth, air, water, and fire. Next, I am creating a physically challenging multi projecting waypoints from compass bearings that will take the cacher through ravines, across creeks and up a hill or two.
  3. I keep a bullhorn with me just to be able to announce my presence whenever I search for a cache.
  4. Expensive equipment? Any smartphone with a FREE app can read QR codes and since my smartphone is cheaper than a lot of GPSr's out there not sure why you think there is expensive equipment involved. this is not true, with a smart phone you are paying a monthly fee to use the phone, with a real GPS which can be purchase for a little over $100.00 there is no monthly fee. Sure the app may be free but the use of the phone is not free I guess it's a generational thing then. For me, to have a regular phone is $30 a month, to have a smart phone is $45 a month, I am willing to spend that extra $15 a month to have access to the internet on my phone, which in turn allows me to have access to geocaching where ever I am and also have access to a QR code. I think as we see more younger geocachers, we are going to see a lot more technology included in geocaches.

  6. I have one right now that has gotten some good comments. I printed them on Shrinky Dinks. This is one of the codes from the multi.
  7. Epitome of hyperbole. could happen, a lot of the people who are responsible for printing the payroll checks are deemed non-essential employees.
  8. Couldn't you count the building itself as a weather-proof container?
  9. Those may be your reasons, but you are still exhibiting a weakness. The purpose of speaking is to communicate. If you are intent on using words that most receivers of that communication find offensive, it could be defined as a personality disorder. Like the guy who attempts to use a CB radio to talk on the ham radio frequencies. Yes, it is silly because it is offensive only because we are taught it is, but if it wasn't considered offensive it would fall out of use. Purposely being offensive is characteristically antisocial. There are some who are too easily offended, but then there are others who are just overtly offensive, and not much different.. [emphasis added] It is silly, isn't it? It is also silly to try label anyone who uses this type of language as having antisocial personality disorder, since using offensive language is not a symptom of that disorder or any of the 10 types personality disorders that are recognized in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. Although expecting everyone's behavior to be modeled around what you find appropriate is a symptom of a personality disorder.
  10. So then once again, since the child's mother has chosen to ignore GS's terms of service, the onus is on the mother. If you choose to bring a child into a crowd of adults you need to be prepared to answer some tough questions later.
  11. I checked and it does say something to that effect on the pages now, although I don't think it did when I did part of it. However, I don't think its such a good idea to be replacing containers on geotrails that do not have identical hides. And I don't think leaving a pill bag under a rock is a good idea for any cache. The next finder, and several others would report that it needs maintenance. Then the cache is found right where it should be, and in fine shape. If you are going to leave a throwdown, how about using an actual container? And keep it limited to the geotrail? With the copy and paste logs, nobody can tell which ones, or how many were "replaced" this way. The finders probably do not remember either. </rant> I have been kicking around an idea for a geotrail along a bike trail and every couple of miles having an ammo can with logsheets, baggies, and some pill bottles so that if cachers want to, they can stock up and replace as needed. I am a little less sure about the pill bottles just because they take up so much room.
  12. I took the liberty to edit your list to better reflect myself (since I'm the only one I feel comfortable speaking for). Injured- Telling the world within earshot you are in pain because sometimes my owie has earned a good expletive to celebrate it's existence Frustrated- Telling everyone that you cannot figure something out or are able to adjust to the situation. A more classic form of yelling I AM STUPID. because when I'm frustrated, I say I'm frustrated and when I'm angry, I say I'm angry and sometimes I need a to express that I'm f***ing pissed. Angry- people get angry because they lose control of a situation refer to previous statement Trying to be cool- Cussing to fit in, means that you are surrounded by snobs who won't accept you if you don't cuss. I was never cool in high school and I'm not cool now, I freely admit that and accept that. I choose not to modify my behavior on the sole fact that it will increase or decrease my standing with someone Frightening someone- Weak people frighten others to make themself feel stonger. if I feel the need to reach down to this level, cussing is the least of your worries and rarely is used Annoy someone- Unintelligent people use this ploy to bring someone down, because they cannot pull themself up. as an intelligent person I know that annoying you isn't fun Intoxicated- Drunk people are easy to beat up, and get angry easier. cussing is rarely a factor, although I must admit that moral codes do get challenged Tough guy - An obvious attempt to balance a weakness. The 98 lb guy always cusses up a storm. that's what martial arts lesson are for Being offensive - There is something wrong with you, and you don't know how to deal with it, so you are using the cuss words to warn others about your problem. my existence is morally offensive to some, why would I need to do more
  13. And why do they only talk like that when adults aren't around? Because they know that that language isn't appropriate. Getting farther off i know, but i have always wondered why people want to use words they know are unfit to use at most family dinner tables. The only thing i can guess is that it's kinda like cigarettes, where i'm guessing they think it makes them look cool, or tough, or something? To be honest, i do see something when i come across these people, but it sure isn't that cool look! Speaking only for myself, my reasons for using such words are because they are a part of our vernacular and to remove available words simply because someone finds them offensive is to limit our abilities to express ourselves. I will agree that these words are crude, but I do not agree that they should be universally considered offensive. They have their place in our language and can even be considered socially appropriate at a family dinner table (in the correct context). I think that we (as a collective) need to be very careful with banning things simply because they can be construed as offensive. I think the argument can be made that any username or cache name that have religious meanings are offensive to a significant population and should be banned. Just because one person finds something morally offensive, does not make it universally morally offensive. I realize that GS as already made the decision to request the user to change their login ID, and they have, but I don't completely agree with the reasoning. I feel I have just as much of a right to voice my opinion on this matter as everyone else does without being accused of acting childish and immature. I have put a lot of thought and reasoning into the moral code that I live by and find it offensive when people attack it simply because it doesn't line up with theirs. Perhaps we should ban all personal attacks in the forums and require everyone to back up their opinions with more then "because it's always been this way" or "because this book says so" or even "just because".
  14. Not sure why people get all uppity about words. Because my 6 year old granddaughter has a account here and I do not want her exposed to this type of language. Keep it CLEAN Words are just words, we associate the meaning to them. Every time someone says "flippin", "gosh darn it", "cheese-n-rice", or anything else, you might as well have said the word you replaced because the exact same intent is behind them. How do you handle situations where another person's language choice is beyond your control, such as the mall or a football game? Do you expect everyone else to mind their P and Q's? Furthermore: So to be a responsible member of the GC community, we should limit our language and content to PG13 levels. And since most 13 year olds understand the meaning of curse words and their applications (just listen in on one of their conversations when they think there isn't an adult around), I don't understand why there is an outrage at the usage of such language.
  15. What about a challenge cache that requires x amount of unhelpful posts in the forums?
  16. If it's a moral code worth having, then it's one worth expecting of everyone. Besides, what's the virtue in having a double standard, anyway? The Quran is a moral code worth having, so should everyone in the world have to live by it? Personally I align myself more with the Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, and since pirates are the most blessed of all the peoples of the world, I am offended that more people don't swear like a pirate. 10 wolves and 9 goats sit down to discuss the morality of eating meat.
  17. Who get to decide that is offensive and not offensive? Who gets to be the moral police?
  18. The MidWest Geo-Bash, had a bunch of caches published just for this year's theme of Mardi Gras, the cache name was a New Orleans based drink and in the description was the recipe to make the drinks.
  19. Not sure why people get all uppity about words. You're kidding, right? Expecting some one to have the same reaction to words is expecting them to live by your moral code. Perhaps that person was raised in a culture where using that word is not morally offensive. In the U.S. we don't see any problem with using the word "bloody", but in the U.K. it has a similar meaning as the F-word.
  20. Not sure why people get all uppity about words.
  21. Or maybe an RSS feed that we could get email updates if we choose to.
  22. Does it matter? You'll still get Cheech Honors.
  23. Do their caching habits make your finds any less valid?
