  1. Aweseom! Atwell Family - Had you not started this thread I would have not seen the Seattle Flash Mob "event". I did not know this was going on. 74 registered! http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.aspx?key=WWFM
  2. I send in feedback on the article. If Groundspeak handles it it will appear to be one comment from a small group. If everyone who knows about it sends in a comment they will know that they are messing with a lot of people. I imagine many people who cache would also like other articles in their magazine. They are throwing sand in the eyes of their own readers in many cases.
  3. Sounds like a travel bug with a place to store a log... Not sure if these are common or grand fathered in but I personally do not like the idea of moving caches. Good thing we are all entitled to our own opinions
  4. I don't like people to steal them, if someone is a collector they should have the courage to log it and then keep it against the coin owners will.... (or let it travel) Honestly though I hate finding copies of coins knowing the coin is actualy available to travel. Not being able to handle the real thing and look at the design makes it not as worth it. I either ignore them or occastional discover them but never move them. Just my opinions and all...
  5. Cool coin. I have found a few cachers for Christ styles of coins. Always glad to see another. To bad it is not out in time for Halloween
  6. I have a 2001 TJ. I use the sand bag type mount that sits which is a standard dash mount from garmin. It works but it is not the best. Another option...
  7. A custom error should be enabled that says... "Processing... Please Wait..." Most people would then be happy not to see the typical unhandled server error and would patiently wait (forever). I prefer a real message that says... "Your issue has been logged and our support staff alerted. Please do not post this to the forums as you are trippling the traffic by talking about it." Either way we would not see any more Server errors...
  8. People are insane. 30 a year if nothing new was delivered would be a bargin! My 30 dollars entitles me to some advanced features. Groundspeak can prioritize and decide where it goes. If Jeremy wanted to host fidelity.com or something I may be a bit worried but what they do and how lean they must operate to do it is amazing. I don't like the net to be slow but I also know when to whine and when to appreciate what I have.
  9. If you need the info to find the cache then the cache type would be a mystery/unknown/puzzle. Anything is fair game. I assume that a cache needs to be solvable to be posted but the difficulty and technology needed is not driven through policy. I try to keep my required resources on this site so I don't point to required files or documents off server. If you upload the image do the geotags come through? It is good to ask but then again you are giving away the "mystery" to solve your cache.
  10. Maybe a feature to email all your listed friends... and while you are at it make it so you can see this in more of a grid view with other columns

    Sneak Peak

This is what we imagine as we submit a cache... Jeremy Presenting the queue Team Misguided making a case for a cache listed 527 feet away from another - with the F.A.Q. front and center. Final approval

    Sneak Peak

This is probably better than I had hoped for. Thanks folks!
  13. I realize this topic has been talked to death but if it has not been mentioned, maybe a reviewer account should own these challenge type of caches if the inventor of it should really log it. At the end of the day it does not matter each way but it is one idea

    Sneak Peak

I am curious to know what happens behind the scenes as far as approving caches and what reviewers see and use. Are there screen shots worth posting of magical tools that show 528 feet proximity circles around all the legs of a multi, self checking test cases that pre-approve the cache and does all the work... Just wondering Guess I am board as I sit here ripping video...
  15. Zoom doesn't seem to update the list but panning did...
  16. Nice - How about the show the current mark when I come in from an archived cache for example... (seeing the old red marker that could be enabled..)
  17. It would be good for gc.com, today I can't add a link to my profile in email or a blog comments because people can't see it. If there was a public view then it could draw more attention to this sport.
  18. Forums are really not designed for bug creation, tracking, and reporting. It could make sense to use forums for discussion and create another way for people to submit bugs, feature requests, and issues where they can then go and see status. It could also give Groundspeak a better way to manage requests. I assume you have something in house to manage and triage items... (Of course assuming is never a good thing)
  19. I log because I want the online and offline tools to know what I have done and not done. Helps me de-clutter maps. I also like the visibility with my buddies. As mentioned before, I also love it when someone logs my cache finds and gives feedback. I say log away but it is of course a personal choice and no no will be damned one way or another.

    Temp caches

I so totally do not understand this thread...
  21. My take is if I have to do pre-work to solve for the coordinates it is a puzzle cache. Typically I need the print out to do a multi but I can grab the print out and run and do not really need anything else at my disposal. A puzzle cache implies there is something that needs to be figured out prior to going into the field. A puzzle could be on the print out and all you need but if is more than what a multi is covered by. To me there is a clear line between puzzle and the uber bucket of "other" that also falls under a mystery cache. It would be good to make sure that everyone agrees on what a puzzle cache is and what a puzzle cache is not.
  22. Took me a minute to understand your question... http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...e1-937e5ce111cb Thanks!
  23. I vote for a true puzzle cache type. Let mystery still be a catch all for "whatever" but if a person wants to create a puzzle cache and call it such then that would be great.
  24. I like the new layout but I prefer a hybrid of this and the first non-google map. A list of the caches on the screen under the map so I can highlight the pins and see the 2 react. The filtering of this map rocks but an overview list of caches below would make it a hundred times better. Good progress! This is probably FAQ already but once I show or hide the cache listing thing the other popups on the cache pins no longer work. On another note, maybe the popup on the push pins should be a mouse over so I don't have to click to open and click to close... One more note, cache listings link does not reflect current filter view, but original view...
