  1. I would like to get feedback on some of the report pages such as my watch lists and my caches... On my watchlists pages it would be nice to see when caches were last found, the last 5 log types, or other informaton. Just a list of caches is not that helpful. Similar for TB's I am watching, last movement, total miles traveled. The watch gpx utility makes the first feature request nice. Seeing the last 5 status of my watch lists would help me take action. If I am watching a cache since I could not find it or if it is a cache I own, it would be nice to see the last 5 sad faces and the last find date to help drive information up without drilling down and analysing. Several lists or reports have no additional columns and I think this would be helpful without cluttering up the screen.
  2. I just flew back over the pole from Moscow to Seattle and it was fun playing with My GPS. Top speed was 530 mph and highest we were was 36000 feet. Wait I was on a plane not a plain... I have had good reception where there are no trees though as well... Anyway. The plane did not crash and the GPS worked very good.
  3. The Baby Talk Cache was hidden and then found by many people and then my permission to the locatoin fell through. It has been in my garage for over a year. The idea and work that went into the original cache has not changed just the location. it does not make sense to archive it since I want the same cache to remain active. I will be hiding it elsewhere, probably a half of mile form the original spot and hopefully in a new creative way. Same container, some name, same reason. new locaiton. If people see it on there list and want to re-log it then more power to them. I just need to get the thing out in the wild again!!!!! I have seen to many GC number thrown away and not reused to the best ability to not waist resources. If a cache is created and then archived with no finds there is no reason to keep it alive and waste a number. I have one that fits that category also but will hopefully get it approved one day
  4. I saw this last night and I am very excited. I have a bright orange 58 willys that is not currently running (and could be for sale...). Bring on the TB's Thanks Jeremy and GC.com for the new fetaures and added bonuses like this. I am looking forward to seeing the press it gets.

    Stats Visibility

Make it a premier feature and get more income coming to GC.com from those that want to add features to the site but may not be supporting the site Personnaly I am not sure why I would ever want to turn off my stats. And as long as I have more than my friends it is a compitition http://www.blankdev.com/geocaching/GroupStats.asp Seriously though, it is nice to lookup a person and see what caches they have hidden and which ones they have found. I think that a vote may be needed since I would much rather GC.com focus on features that the masses for sure would use.
  6. I always looked at the mystery cache as a ... if you want to know what kind of cache it is you better go find it... This thread has given me a new insite to the mystery cache but at the same time, my original ideas are still valid. Single container, puzzle, or other, it will be a mystery to me unless I go find it. The ones I have found all have been different but all fit into the mystery box pretty good.
  7. Okay, I lied. After using the new page a bit I do have a request. I love the page but the top 1/3 of the page is not packed with my most important things. I think that if you are a premium member, it would be great to have a easy to get to list of your saved queries so you can just run them and get results right from the my page. I also think a quick search field would be useful.. It could be a text box with a drop down next to it that lists cache, user, waypoint and a go button so you can jump to a person place or thing without having to go to a bunch of deeper pages. Account infomation and profile are right in the middle of a bunch of white space and I don't use them that often. I agree with the previous folks that a more detailed list of caches I own and stats on them would be very interesting. I may care more about my caches than logs I have posted as far as what is in my face every time I go to My page. I look forward to custom lists... If you ever have brain storming sessions let me know
  8. Just want to say good job! I like this a lot better than the old page. I will use it for a while and enjoy the new featuers before I send a list of new requirements.
  9. I usually fight hard to stay quiet long enough for my kids to "think" they found it. Sometimes the excitement just overtakes me or the grin on my face is a dead give away
  10. I use pocket queries, I will see if I can get what I am looking for there I agree they are both traditional but if the icon could differ in the result sets it would be a nice to have See you on the trails!
  11. It seems that a micro cache and a tradictional cache are getting to be more and more distinct. It would be nice from a search and seek page to see these broken out by icon. Even if Micro and non-micro are both "traditional", it would be nice to view the sub type via an icon. When planning an excursion I always have to drill down to see whether it is a micro or not. Just a thought.
  12. At first my wife and kids and everyone I work with thought I was addicted and over the top. Now they are all right there with me. At work we just bought some group GPSr's and probably the last 5 cache outtings with my family was my wife's idea. Family time in the woods is not dorky. Collecting LED flashlights is another story (just kidding to that poster...)
  13. If the from alias was always set to some non-monitored GC account instead of from the person filling out the form, then wouldn't bounced mails just return to the GC account? GC's form decides who the from is set to... If a person click on the box to include my alias, it coud be included in the body and not on the from field. Maybe I am missing something...
  14. To spead up the found pocket query you could make it an on or off feature for paying members. If they do not have any configuration or choice then it seems that generating the gpx file should be pretty fast. The current queries have so many parameters that I am sure that it is hard to tune the code. Of course the suggesting is not to speed up getting the query in our hands, just to speed up the query
  15. I have been collecting pocket knives for 30 years, it started when I started recieving them for Christmas from my great grandfathers collection. I love finding knives in caches because the become traded items... right into my collection. 800 + knives and counting... I guess I am doing my part to cleanup the containers out there
  16. 100% GC.com for me. I prefer to stick with what is good and will be around for the long haul I do not want to update logs at both locations either. For caches that are posted at both sites, do the cache owners do that, or does Navicache screen scrape GC.com for caches? I think that as a way to support GC.com and keep the sport consistent we should stick around here. (I don't sound biased do I)
  17. Dressing up cache pages can be nice. I like how Moun10bike uses the same background image. I can instantly tell a Moun10bike cache when I open it. Keep is sane and simple though
  18. There is probably a disk space problem. .net reacts differnet in different situations with low disk space. I can add a log to a cache but then can't get back and view it via the cache link. I get the low disk space error when uploading images. Jeremy needs a bat phone so we can let him know when things happen like this real fast.
  19. Instead of a field guide. I think a nice little .net application that lets you pick several caches from your pocket query and then prints out an overview map and table of contents with individual maps, driving directions and caches would be nice. Before I go out for a long weekend or trip I could easiy render my weekend cache plans instead of doing it manualy
  20. I found that the pocket queries replaces all of my own logging. I have 3 recurring pocket queries. 1. My Need to Find, 2. My hidden, and 3. My finds. I can then transform the xml on a web page instantly and daily or weekly the data file is automatically up to date. Excel or other mechanisms were just dual entry and always a bit out of date. Just my 2 cents.
  21. I agree. Buy the official TB and support the site. Too many one off tracking sites and "things" to deal with can complicate a good thing. The official TB is the way to go.
