  1. There is enough evidence in current virtuals, locationless, and eartch caches to support this type of category... http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...44-d9c2c2348ff9 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...d8-c45dfee29684 Missle Silo's, bomb shelters, you name it, there is a need for it. How can you archive exisitng items if the categories don't exist? Because there were no categories before did not keep them from being approved.
  2. What about if virtuals move? I would prefer to have pure find counts at GC.
  3. I have read that existing caches and data would stay as is. Has anyone looked at the effort or process to migrate all old caches and data to the new system? It would be work but seems like it would make it a cleaner distinction on where to go and what to do. Even if all the existing items rolled up to a legacy category and then the owners could recategorize them or something. The effort might be larger than the benefit but I think it is something to think about. Getting stats to mesh and each site serving that one purpose seems like a better idea to me. Thanks
  4. Then should I call it de-comissioned nuke plants. Still, tourists take pictures of nuke plants daily. I don't see a big deal here. You can get the coords and a picture without getting too close
  5. Benchmarks each are unique and have a unique location. Seems like they are more aligned to geocaching.com. I am glad the profile is shared between the site!!! Thanks. Uber stats page in the future? Maybe hanging off of Groundspeak?
  6. Nuclear reactors, would those roll up into another parent category? If you have nukes, coal plants, and other things... What would the parent be?
  7. Maybe they have a personal bug and they were catching up on its travel. Did the person doing the logging have a historical entry in the cache as a find? Then there is the statement... It is not about the number and people make this game personal to them... Maybe they like to have a lot of miles
  8. email high tech caching with gear photos to gblank@winisp.net That is simpler than posting them here. Gadgets, gears, silicone diodes... Action shots are good also! If I can use them in my project I will email you the final results. Thanks!
  9. People using different technology to play the game. So a picture of you taking a picture maybe
  10. I am serious. Pictures of people and there high tech gadgets in action. PDA, Cell Phones, Laptops, Slide rulers (okay, so legacy high tech will work also) Thanks!
  11. I need pictures showing you using technology while geocaching. Pictures of how technology improve the game, how you use devices or software. If you have anything you would like to share that would be great. Thanks, GeoBlank
  12. Does the last entry mean I can have a land rover logo in my picture I submit as long as a judge would be able to blur it if they like the picture? Very not clear.
  13. I just started using book mark lists but it would be nice to have found, hidden, last found, distance, and the normal log columns on those pages. It seems like the data would be in the join anyway and should be displayable. If you agree please let GC.com know Also, is there an official location where features are listed with progress and priority after GC.com has triaged them? Thanks, GeoBlank
  14. That sounds like a hold over from the Jeep essay contest last year. Essays aren't happening this year are they? How would you name a person in a picture. Spell it out with white jeeps
  15. quote: if someone had originally submitted one that had a person in it (and therefore would have been disqualified) Question: Where in the rules does it say that a photo cannot have a person in it? I think I missed that... Thanks!
  16. I was doing the wimpy 1/1 caches yesterday down by the river. I was not prepared to go into goat country. I am very interested in the trip as well as how much total time a group should allocate for finding these 3 caches.
  17. The rules state one picture per TB. I think they should say ... and if you are holding it during judging you are no longer in the running...
  18. I hae also been planning on doing this. I am at 249 caches and It is now or never. Since this is popular, it seems that it could be beneficial for GC.com to give a user this view of there cache logging. The same information is available just not the connect the dots map. If every cacher does this we will have a bunch of TB's that really aren't doing anything and a lot of log data to store that is redundant. Can GC.com comment on how this could turn into a feature request This way I will hold off on creating a personal TB.
  19. I will be planning a team building event for mid august and plan on having three teams race to get the 7 caches in bridle trails park. If anyone has been thinking of placing a new cache in that area go for it. The more the merrier Just thought I would throw that idea out there in case you were planning one but just a procrastinator like myself. Thanks!
  20. I am going to close this thread as I think the mystery voting buttons now makes sense. Thanks for filling in the gaps. I own a real Yellow Wrangler and was a month too late in starting the jeep hysteria here See you next year in that category!
  21. I think this all makes sense now. So from the 1st to the 15th roughly, the voting buttons will appear. Thanks for your feedback and other links AtlantaGal.
  22. So submitting a picture is not good enough, it needs to then be nominated by other cachers? Does number of votes determine which are nominated or is that an additional criteria? It seems an awesome picture that has no forum marketing should still be a winner if the picture is the best. Can someone post official process along with voting dates and method to get to an images voting button? Thanks
  23. A week or so ago, I saw a voting button on jeep picture logs. I went to the same place tonight and can't find those buttons. Is there impact to the overall winner if other cachers vote? I did not see this mentioned when I scanned the contest rules. How will you determine what the final entries are and then what is the process to choose monthly winners? Thansk (hope this is not FAQ)
  24. I am going to many spots in mexico in a few weeks. If there are none in mexico and you want me to take a couple down I can. Stopping at all the normal cruise ports, cabo, ixtapa, maz, acapulco, and one more that I can't spell either....
  25. Who found a BD cache when he/she/it was active in Washington? What are those little devils called and where can you get them? What happened to BD anyway?
